- bungie has announced that the raid is launching on june 7th, which is a departure from the usual 10 days of prep. so, why the shorter timeframe?

The only reason I can think of them wanting to do this is story. It would be weird if we chased the Witness into his castle and we had to wait another 10 days.
I mean, it wouldn't be that weird. The witness being all powerful, youd want time to prepare

They've actually said the raid is against the Witness, but that they don't want to lock that story beat behind a raid. They also said it would come before the final story beats because while it wouldn't be the end, it would be a significant cursory moment for the end. I do wonder if there is a week delay in the campaign and finishing the fight with a raid in between.

If they make Pantheon a yearly event that has different lineups with new emblems and a gilded title, I'd be fine with it being limited. If it becomes SRL then I'm gonna be super disappointed.
It will be like GM Nightfalls imo, where a new version of Pantheon will be released near the end of each Episodes.

I personally love raid launches directly following expansion release. Its chaotic and brings a really intense and fun atmosphere to the game

Makes sense since the raid is the end of the Final Shape story. No need to wait two weeks to find out how the story ends.
They've clarified in the postshow of the first Final Shape reveal stream that the raid isn't the end of the story. We'll have to all band together or something after to finish it.

Gonna be rough for prep though. The power grind will be a bit wild. Normally I take a week to complete an expansion but this is going to be complete in 2 days sort of deal.
In other words, all the people who play on weekends won't have even seen the story

as someone that's actually missing this raid because I'm going to the F1 Grand Prix in Canada, I'm excited for this purely because I want to see the chaos. these are always fun raid launches, and I'm down for it

My first was Abu Dhabi 2023, was an amazing experience
It’s cause the Final mission is after the raid, having over a week would probably remove a lot of the tension from the story. This way it’s more of an actual short build before a final battle. Also hit prediction is that the artifact won’t be out until echoes so FS raid is a fully pure experience with no power up’s and no champions

@@pee-pee_mama the first reveal in the questionare after they said we’d get 7 missions on launch then the final mission after the raid. The artifact is a theory based on the fact that Echoes is likely to launch a bit after the final shape cause its about stuff after the final shape considering the artifact is likely to drop with echoes it’s just a theory but not a bad one that we won’t have extra artifact power for the final shape raid.
The logic here is most people who want to go into the day one raid will probably also do the campaign on legend to bring their power up faster.

I think the reason they're releasing the raid so early is because the raid itself is part of the campaign. I read a leak somewhere saying the raid is against him in every encounter is another form and at the end he kills us or we get hurt and it leads into the final mission of the game.

I think there is a story component, but I also think they don't want to give us a lot of time to build-craft prismatic. Given how powerful it looks, it gives the elite gamers an edge in the raid race
More likely a lot of prismatic may be locked till after day 1 or the clear. Like the 3rd super in forsaken or the original plan for strand fragments. Bungie has a tendency to lock things away, but having the day 1 raid race a week and a half away, would mean there'd be a week after launch where people would have to wait on story conclusion, full subclass activation, and potentially some endgame activity. I bet that would significantly ruin the flow of things for them this time, especially if the mission before the raid has some sort of crazy plot twist cliff hanger

I love day one raiding but simply this timeline will likely preclude me from a contest mode clear. It usually takes me a couple days to just beat the story due to work and such.
I've been taking the first Friday off every June because it was the best camping experience I had with my dog and the same date I spread his ashes at the same site. Not gonna miss visiting my good boi to be frustrated by LFG during contest mode.

I literally JUST uploaded a video regarding clans, their history and how the feature has stagnated over the years. I go over ideas like new bounties (woohoo), an in game message/recruitment board and even a rotating PvP Clan War event.
I'm glad they are making some small changes, since there is SO much more potential.

Sounds like we wont be gettting much of a power bump if we have such a small amount of time. So the Legend campaign gives you the gear to put you at the entry point
They said previously that the final campaign mission wouldn’t be available until after the raid. It’s probably moved up like that so people don’t have to wait that long to finish the story.

I feel like it’s more in tune with the cannon ya dig? It’s like the big “final battle” of the light and dark saga it’s supposed to make us feel underpowered and the culmination of a decade of conflict.

I think it was stated before that the Final mission of Final Shape is the thing that'll be unlocked after the Raid is completed. That is probably why it is so early after the expansion launches.
To me, it is because the raid has strong tie ins with the campaign and once the raid is done, we are going to play one final mission to conclude the story, hence why the raid day is only 3 days after the release so than we can finish the story in a timely manner.
The thing after the raid is whatever actually defeating the witness looks like.
I ain't gonna haven't time to do Pantheon. I usually don't get around to new raid or dungeon content at least a month after it's out.

My guess was that the raid will either be the finale for the campaign or will need to be beat before the true finale is available. Don't know if either is a good idea, but god knows that doesn't stop them.

while i do understand having less time to understand the sandbox is cool and all but i highly doubt the sandbox is as different as say forsaken launch or TTK launch right so we probably are gonna roll in with a pretty good understanding of things anyway

Probably because they don't want ppl to wait too long for the final story mission which is after the raid probably, Bungie talked about how they want to do the Witness differently

My guess is that this all ties back to marketing for the next Destiny game after The Final Shape (be that Destiny 3 or another expansion). The reason they've been so vague when it comes to what's next is that any info would spoil (at least in part) the ending to the Light and Darkness saga. So it wouldn't surprise me if the announcement for what's next comes in game at the end of the story (or very shortly after). The dream scenario for Bungie is that Final Shape is a huge hit with fans, then they can ride that wave of good will into preorders for whatever's next.
Destiny 3 won't be happening and Bungie has already permanently damaged their reputation years ago with how horrible and predatory they've been towards players. It won't matter if Final Shape is the besr expansion ever made (which it won't be). People aren't interested in anything they make anymore.
