I really wish the new version would have retained the reverse-charging feature. There's real value in having a flashlight that allows you to leave your power bank brick at home. Other 18650 lights (such as Wurkkos) provide this important feature; Sofirn should be no different.
I love the reverse charging in if22a. I use it as my primary powerbank nowdays. Just enough juice to get you thru the Day and to get a quick look someware dark.
I have he Wurkkos HD15, small compact 18650 headlamp that doubles as a right angle flashlight with flood and spot beams plus has power bank option. I show that one to my friends and they are amazed with all it can do. I carry 2 extra 18650 in my backpack so I have 9000mah of power bank if needed to charge a couple phones. Sofirn should have kept the power bank option in the IF24/pro.
Same. I have a Wurkkos HD15R for the combo of high/low/handsfree(mag base, right angle clip)/charging in a waterproof package. The main limitation of 18650-based lights is that they're slightly inconveniently big for EDC. I so rarely need the full endurance/brightness on a light, being able to top up my phone ends up being the main reason it's at the top of my gear rotation. I use it to charge at least 3-4 times more often than I make use of the extended light capabilities. The solid metal case makes these the most rugged power supplies you can get and it's easy to extend use by just grabbing spare batteries.
I have both the 23 and 24 (non-pro). I got the 24 for the same reason you mention regarding the holster. I also frequently use my 24 hooked on the back of my waist belt during dog walks, running the beacon mode with red light. It just makes me feel a bit more noticeable. And then use the higher output of the 23 for my hand light. Both are great values for sure. I do love the idea of switching out the colored side emitters with UV though... Maybe they'll hear you and come out with a new variant. Side models are all the rage these days. IF24U or something like that.
Still loving all my iF23s but improved UI is much welcome Use of 18650 is a deal breaker for me. Don’t use reverse charging much, but good backup feature to have Don't need all the color modes, just white, red & red/blue will do for me Will get an iF24 Pro when i see a good discount (under $25 without battery)
@trevorreiten349 so we need the IF23.5! 24 controls on a 23 chassis.. retaining the reverse charging capability. I bet if we ask for it, they will build it. Sofirn and wurkkos listen to their customers' suggestions and ideas.
It's great to have choices! I looked at the IF24 and chose the IF23 (as well as a couple of Sofirin Lanterns) due to the reverse charging. We lose power due to storms from time to time in Houston, and it's always great to have long lasting lights and power banks.
Improving the user interface is definitely what I'm looking for (controls such as rotating ring, slider, rotary knob, bezel ...). I think this is the right way to combine many functions and ease of use. Omitting the power bank functionality is a minus.
Im a big fan of sofrin. I have 2 lights from them. The sp31pro and IF22a ive had both for nore then a year. Im very hard on gear. These flashlights are the best you can find for the money. Id put them up against any nitecore or olight. I like a flashlight with uv and red light. Id like to be able to use red without having to lose night vision. I definitely need to get this light. Its a design i could really use as a mechanic.
I have both. Like the size and useful battery size of the IF23. The 23 has some real challenges with the UI. So I would have preferred another 21700 sized IF24 but man that UI is a vast improvement. So Sofirn also makes a IF24 Pro with a SFT40 LED, I want one of those also, I just wish that had gone with a 21700, after all you got the IF24 in a smaller 18650 for people that want a smaller carry light. Thanks for keeping up with the most popular lights on this channel. 👍
I just bought a little budget light from sofirn its the sc 13 and its packs a lot of punch for something under 3". And has a 1300lm turbo i think its the best olight sr1 alternative/killer. Nice vid btw cheers
I just checked them out again. The original IF24 is 6000-6500K, so I was going to skip it, but the Pro is 5000K, so I will order one! The IF23 is an outstanding toolbag flashlight, but the IF24 Pro may be something I'd carry. We'll see!
I got mine recently and not really a edc guy simple is ussaly better but the size and battery like got me. Regardless if it can't blind people it fits well into my veto mp2x instead of a bulky milwaukee rechargeable or a simple pen light. Works well looks like crap already because the coating is kinda cheap but it's used in attics and crawlspaces for electrical work. I think if I ordered the other model I would have returned it most likely looks considerably bulkier. I know it's not a edc perspective but I probably use it harder or more than most people.
IF24 Pro comes with a buck driver also. its going to be more efficient in low modes and have constant brightness. Too bad about the RGB gimmicky modes. They really should add UV as you say. That would be much better. They could also have orange for fog, green for hunters and warm white and have one of the most complete all in one flashlights ever!
What did you use the UV light for? I would love if more very small lights had a dedicated red light mode. That's great for night vision protection. I have no use for any other color.
Best part is the tir lenses are the exact same size convoy uses. I swap them all the time. I have the pro version which has the buck driver and an SFT40 5000k emitter
I ride a Boosted Board, nightly, to work & back, and want a flashlight, and a side light, to glow red, or blue, or orange depending on the weather. The clip Fits on the strap, at the back or side of the left kneepad. 😊
That RGB is so cool, specially the 50/50 red/blue mode for cops, but why doesn't Sofirn add another flashing mode 50/50 amber/amber? That is very usefull for car emergency or for private security who are not allowed to use the blue police colors.
I bought the old Sofirn modell on AliExpress. The light mode menu is to complicated for me to remember which button press does what. So i end up allways get the wrong light mode everytime. Not good. They should remove the color change modi completly or just add the red color as a option. A option could be the complex light mode menu printed or laser engraved on the case side.
I think Olight was REALLY onto something with the Arkfeld UV. That uv light i use just as much as a flashlight! I definitely will never go back to a non uv light. I think the flatness is a REAL game changer for me too. I'm really considering getting the Arkfeld pro. Idk if i need a laser though but i do manage to point at alot of things so who knows. I do wish the would come out with a Arkfeld mini and make the UV light stronger as well. Idk how much you are in contact eith olight but i would definitely recommend coming out with a rechargeable keychain uv light. Or rechargeable keychain light/laser combo. 👀
@TTime685 lol I have and work in an occupation that needs to verify id's often so having this helps. Also at night it really helps to see things without a harsh white light. I've used it as a night light and it worked perfectly.
@@henryohenry1504 If you need it for work that makes sense. But UV actually hurts my eyes worse than 4-6000k because of it's a higher frequency. Similar to those blue Christmas lights, lord I hate those things.. lol. I much prefer a red light
@@henryohenry1504 I guess if you need one for work that makes sense. But UV tends to hurt my eyes worse than 4-6000k light due to it's high frequency. Similar to those blue Christmas lights, I can't stand looking at those things.. lol. I much prefer a red light
I think every light going forward, that aims for high functionality, should come standard with a UI at least equivalent to the simpler of the two modes of anduril 2.0.
Red light would be good to keep to preserve night vision and not attract flying insects. Green would be useful for hunting so animals don't notice it as much. Other than that don't know what other colours would be of any use other than decorations.
Pretty sure they’re updating the UI so that the new IF24 won’t activate the emitters when you turn the dial to a new selection, only when you press the button after changing selections. Really should have been that way from the start.
@B-RaDD I got it for the laser which was the only reason I was considering the arkfied from o light but i don't need the other color lights wurkkos added on there but it was still half the price of o light
that rgb side light is so fkin stupid and pointless. they could've just done a switchable color temp of warm white (around 3000k) and daylight (around 5000k) for the side light. and they should have kept the 21700 with the reverse charging feature.
@@wobblybrute undoubtedly problematic, do you find yourself buying every next new model though? Surely when you do you are fueling iteration and indirectly the Chinese war machine. Probably less so when you buy a folding lawn chair.
