Today’s so called “Indian culture” is more like Victorian England. Even England has moved on but India is still stuck there, and repeated colonisations have made people forget true Indian culture based on the laws of Dharma, nature & truth.

John Pratt this is the reason why Christians and muslims were ideologically too behind than any of eastern dharmic religions. You fought among yourself and blood thrust was common in your culture. This isn't what we were taught in our religion i.e. Violence and greed. Hence, we admire ancient india more than morden india. Colonization has ruined the core values of indian society but still today majority of us know where our root belongs and sooner or later we will reject western ideologies and go back to what ancient india standed for so long. 🙂

Yes Hinduism is all about acceptance and we should treat everyone with respect despite what grown adults do in their beds. But all the so called examples here that apparently "blurred" the lines are all bullshit.
In what world does danced together means had sex? Or means romantic love between the dancers?
Narad was turned into a woman by God to give him an experience of what it's like to be a woman. No where is it said Narad dressed as a woman and married a man.
Krishna took the mohini form and married Arjuna's son? Okay so after their marriage Krishna became Arjun's sons wife and lived happily ever after, is that what you're telling me? No obviously it means Krishna created a beautiful woman for Arjun's son to marry. And she is an avatar of Krishna just like Rama is an avatar of Vishnu but is not Vishnu himself in the physical sense, in the story.

In India subcontinent many cultures prevail, all have different ways of living, so different literature developed, but problem arises that's this was later converted to religion, the definition of real God got mixed up with the stories of the kings, peoples were made to believe they are all one.
One of the greatest wrong done was labeling these kings as Vishnu Avatars, whoever's did it from where he got this information, God will never come and say that to mankind,.
We mustn't link these stories with God.

Indeed, it's about time. Even when you look at later manuals which incorporate details of our medieval history, such Vatsyayana's 12th century classic Kama Sutra, you see the plethora of human society outlined within its' pages, reflecting the type of civilization Indians had constructed for themselves. And in those writings, we see vatsyayana depict a very open-minded arena of human beings cohabitating a society comprised of LGBTQ inclusivity, acceptance of polygamy & polyandry, socially sanctioned (and taxed) legal sex workers, a biodiversity of culture differentiating in variety from region to region of the Indian subcontinent to the upper Middle East and extending towards East Asia, as well as a healthy and unrepressed view of accepting the totality within human sexuality. Lesbians were even given a very respectful title, "svairini", meaning "independent woman" (ie: a female who does NOT rely upon a man in her adulthood nor elderly years). We were an advanced civilization. And we were quite wealthy. And everything that we had in science, math, technology, ethics, architecture, etc. was usurped in sequence by first Middle Eastern barbarism, and then European deception. We were once the Commonwealth, although modern "historians" try to neglect that factor of our globe's collective history. We need to unify NOT with Europe, but with the rest of Asia. A plan for a pan-Asian model for our collective continental future growth should be well implemented in the psyche's of our conglomerate pan-Asiatic future generations. Sanskrit, Tamil, Mandarin, Japanese, etc, these are the multitude of languages spoken by people who know and follow the principles of dharma - core principles first spread throughout our continent originating from our Vedic Bharati tutelage.

Christian evangelists and Islamic scholars have taunted the Hindus for holding such views and calling us "Barbarians". Foreign Invasions and foreign rule have robbed India of wealth and such openness. This has led to many stories to be retold in modified forms (or dropping such instances completely) to make it acceptable and avoid criticism from others. This was done to such an extreme that most Hindus today will have no knowledge of these concepts (or stories) and might feel alien to their understanding of Hinduism.

Timur and other did try to invade India but they failed.
Dehli Sultanate didn't extend beyond South Asia.
Muslim rulers of India were foreigners but they had no country to go back to. Their empire was mostly locals with local rulers.
Babur himself lost all his territories in central Asia to other central Asians, he looked toward India and managed to conquer it and founded Mughal empire.

    • @audobone
      @audobone 9 років тому +14

+Tera Baap Natural physical attraction between a male and a male or a female and a female can be classified as love too. As long as it is consensual, it is fine. For anyone who equates bestiality with homosexuality above, note that the animal won't agree to physical relationships with a human. That's when it becomes "wrong". Homosexuals don't force heterosexuals to have sex with them.
As for love not being related to sex in any way, +Tera Baap... How about we ban sex for heterosexuals too? Since love between them shouldn't feel the need to be consummated?

    • @audobone
      @audobone 9 років тому +4

Tera Baap As far as bestiality, I see your argument that, since we eat animals, sex should be ok. This is a logical failure because we outlaw torture of animals, even in how they are killed for food (we can argue about feedlots later, ok?). We do not allow people to skin cats alive, or light dogs on fire for fun, or starve horses to death. Rape (sex without consent) is a form of torture. Bestiality is viewed by the law as sex without consent, therefore akin to rape and to torture.
Ask your local cops if it is OK to slowly skin a chicken, cut off one leg, then the other, remove the beak, all the while it is alive, so long as you intend to eat it. The answer is no.
Also, there are laws to prevent torture against animals. Legal standards. The fact that many slaughterhouses don't follow them is hard to stop for the government due to the sheer numbers and area that slaughterhouses function in.

    • @audobone
      @audobone 9 років тому +2

Tera Baap Well, first off, I'm a vegetarian. I wasn't supporting killing animals in my above statement. -_- I was pointing out why I felt bestiality is wrong on certain levels. My opinion. Whatever you said above is your opinion.
And your last sentence itself speaks in support of homosexuality. Just add "love" in there and it's done.
No one in this world is fucking anybody to tell who they should love. (In your choice of context, have sex with.) Whatever. It's a largely liberal world.
I support equality for homosexuals, not bestiality and that's my choice and part of my belief system. Just like how ignorant homophobics choose to be homophobics.
Lastly, I dunno which animals have chosen you as their spokesperson that you're confirming for them that they don't feel pain in sex with humans or that they want or don't want to have sex with humans or when they're humping against women or men they're actually expressing sexual desire or something else. You keep asking me "how do you know?"
Well, you should answer it too.
And oh, guess what? I actively support animal rights groups... Which is why I'm against bestiality.
But I support homosexuality because I unlike you, I can't speak for animals or understand them (going by the way you present your points, it surely looks like you can talk to them; so I'll believe you. *sarcasm*). But, I understand humans and thus I can speak for their rights to love or have sex with another human regardless of their genders.

You are welcome to join Hinduism (Sanatana Dharma/Eternal Ethics). Doesn't matter if you're homosexual or even an atheist. Whatever you believe in, may it be other gods that are Greek or whatever, all that matters is how good you are to one another and how much you positively impact the world. There's no changing the world to your liking and justifying your hate with God, just having good dharma (ethics) and spreading happiness. And yes, we may have our stories describing the world but we are also based on science and reasoning. Nevertheless, these stories are interesting!
Unfortunately, India has forgotten and lost their way. Hopefully, they can open their minds back once again and be as prosperous as they once were. I'd be happy to answer any questions about Hinduism too. I'm not an expert, but I can definitely give some helpful information.

It's your life so you decide which religion is best for you. In the previous comments they've already described Hinduism beautifully. Or you can choose to be an athiest. Though athiesm is a part of Hinduism.
Or you can follow the left hand path & be a Satanist.
It is actually an atheistic religion & philosophy. Satan is just a metaphorical construct that symbolises certain ideals.
It means freedom. It is about embracing your individuality & treating others with the respect they deserve.
I would suggest you to keep open mind & read books on different religions.
If you want to know about Satanism read The Satanic Bible by Anton Szandor Lavey.
The Satanic Narratives: Mordern Satanic Bible by Damien Ba'al (highly recommended).
      Satanic Feminism by Per Faxneld.
If you want to know about Carvaka philosophy read:
      Carvaka/Lokyata by Debiprasad Chattopadhyaya
For Hinduism there is no definite books cause it is vast like an ocean & there are no definite rules here.
But still for basic knowledge you can read for starters
The Hindu Mind by Bansi Pandit
A Primer to Hinduism by DS Sharma.
You can read books by Swami Vivekananda, Bhagvad Gita, Mahabharata, Shiv Mahapurana (my personal favorite) etc.
Then you should decide what you want.
      Happy reading.

I believe Devdatta patnaik need to learn alot about sanatan hindu dharma. Our inferences are wrong as long we consider them as "myth". Hindu dharma is based on science like any other religion in the world except its valid in all period of time. It never got obsolete with time and always yield a new meaning based on our reasoning.

I am for Decriminalisation...but this famous Devdutt Patnaik is a person with half knowledge in Indian literature, and half knowledge is very dangerous.
The way he interprets a thing is faulty and he himself praises him to be a great commentery writer of our scriptures. This is clearly seen in his books. Scholars and Indic researchers like Rajiv malhotra have clearly spoken this sad truth.
And i don't know how these instances that you depict in this video represents homosexuality? Watch out for Devdutt's misinterpretations

Todays people dont follow pure form of Hinduism... once lord shiva disguised as a woman tried to make love with lord krishna...Lord Shiva has knows to exist in many forms....hes depicted as a Straight man married to parvati, a transgender, a bisexual, a gay man....what our ancestors used to follow was TRUE AND PURE Hinduism....and if you read vedas and upanishads and scriptures from the time of indus valley civilisation, you will know it wasnt a "unnatural" thing in that era...it was ok to be homosexual...people lived in harmony...ancient indias had A LOT of wisdom and compassion towards people and creatures of earth...discoveries like sandals......even the sitar (some foreigners call it indian guitar) were used by gods and are described in holy books, perfumes were also used by ancient indians and gods....shampoo was discovered here...aryabhatt calculated precise distance between sun and earth and moon and earth and from other planets thousands kf years ago....we have jantar mantar in Delhi, jaipur which have buildings which are arranged in some unique pattern and unique structure arranged with help of ancient indian cosmic theory which tell us 100 percent Precise time. They were used by kings and queen and ancient indians....oldest surgery happened in ancient india....plastic surgery, reformation of blunt noseand other such surgeries were done by ancient indian surgeon Charak....orthopedic surgery done by ancient indian doctor Shushruta.....preserving food, sugar was first extracted in india
But sadly Modern day indians are no longer that wise....majority of people consider Homosexuality as an "against the nature" clause...the youth of India has different views about Homosexuality...majority of them respect them and are ready to accept them....lets just wait for time to pass...i believe that someday India will be free from Homophobia...and i have a strong feeling that with the help of todays youth...things will get much easier and friendly as they are educated.
Ps: im not gay im straight but looking at all this breaks my heart....human hurting other human...i want this to be over

Shiva dancing with Krishna as a woman has nothing to do with sex infact if you know the story you'll know that the theme of this story was meditation not sex.
Krishna himself didn't marry Arjun's son. He took the form of a real woman and married him. Dressing up as a woman and becoming a woman are different, and the difference is clearly mentioned in the Mahabharat. If Krishna did marry Arjun's son then are you telling me that Krishna was, from that day onwards the wife of Arjun's son? No he was planning the Mahabharat war. The claims are ridiculous!
I don't think sexuality or sex were the highest themes in any of these stories.

I find a lot of Indians complaining about the current scenarios and the mentality of people prevailing in India today about various things which are considered as "taboo".
There no denial of the fact that there are many people who behave like uneducated literate, who want to hang upon the vices of the community and these are the people who are quite vocal about them. And that's why people assume their thoughts represent India/ Hinduism.
But the that's not true! Problem is not that there are no good and educated people in India, problem is most of the such people choose to remain silent.
We can restore the glory of Hinduism if we choose not to close our eyes and bend in front of the conservative shit, who try to draw boundaries in this ancient way of living of India! And at the same time we need to erase quite a few too!
Hinduism is not mere a religion ( as per the definition of Oxford), a mere code of conduct, it is Sanatan Dharma. And Dharma had got a very simple definition...something which holds together, which sustains the realities which are inherent in this universe. And that's why these are not taboo!!

The 4 major Dharmic traditions (Sanatana Dharma/ Hinduism, Buddhism,Sikhism and Jainism) have a beautiful and very broad views in all aspects of cosmic, earthly and human diversity, including sexual
Diversity. Ancient Hinduism like Buddhism have gotten these aspects right as proven but science. The Abrahamic religions (Christianity,, Islam and Judaism) on the other hand look increasingly fairytale like with their religious claims and rigid belief systems. I’m so glad I discovered Hinduism and left Christianity.
