I’m in government healthcare. Your video gave me all the details to approach our tech support to see if this scanner can be used for our processes. I scheduled an appointment with Fujitsu and this video already answered all my questions. A huge thank you.
Good morning Dr. Ed. That is wonderful. Thank you very much. Please be sure to mention to Fujitsu that you saw my video. I would really appreciate it. If you need any other help, please let me know. 😊👍
I'm glad to hear it Natalie. It can definitely be a bit trickier than some hardware/software but ideally this video and my video on installing PaperStream ClickScan can make the process easier. 😊👍
Hi Sean, the Scanner is great, but i've got a problem with the quality and the size of the scanned files (only documents): If I create small pdf files the quality isn't good enough (for me; not comparable with an big office scanner) and if I get a good quality (with 300dpi) I can't get small pdf files (under 100 kb for one sheet). I played with all of the setting options to get a mix that works for me, but the result could be better... Do you have any experiences with the settings of the fi-8170? Thanks and best regards! Michael
Hi Sean, thank you very much the reviews and guides! I started a small business recently and I wanted to buy a scanner, but I’m already lost with so many options on the market When you have the time, can you suggest me some names? I’ll look them up myself If it helps, I’m looking for the following: ADF desktop scanner Wifi and USB connectivity Supports Windows (program) and Android (app) Saves on Desktop and Google drive Legal Size (A3 & A4) and Receipts Double-sided (duplex) Speed doesn’t matter, 20ppm is more than enough No need for high quality images, 300-600 is enough Auto feed, De-skew, auto rotation, blank page removal, OCR, auto naming Much appreciated!
Hi Ana. You are most welcome. I'm happy to help. I would suggest the ScanSnap iX1300 or iX1600 depending on your budget. Both scanners have all the features you are looking for. If you haven't already, please check out my review videos for each (iX1300 - ua-cam.com/video/hMGaO45Q8DI/v-deo.html and iX1600 ua-cam.com/video/Po4klbKyRVI/v-deo.html). There are of course other companies that make scanners including Epson, Kodak, Canon, Brother, Raven, and Doxie, to name a few, but, in my experience, Fujitsu (now Ricoh) makes the best products in this area. If you have any other questions, please and check out the additional FAQ videos I have made, and post on those videos and I will be happy to answer. 😊 Thanks for getting in touch with me. I hope that you're having a great weekend. 👍
Hi there. I just released a new video comparing the two scanners which will ideally help you answer that question: ua-cam.com/video/tw0Ldnq0CGA/v-deo.html. 😊👍
Hi Stuart. That's a good question. I'm currently away on vacation so I can't test it for you, and this isn't something that I do often, but I believe that the answer is yes. I made a video showing that the ScanSnap iX1300 can scan a mix of legal and letter size paper; here is the link - ua-cam.com/video/VVdeA8WUWAE/v-deo.html. The fi-8170 is a business class scanner and has more advanced technology than the ScanSnap series, so I'm confident in my belief that the answer to your question is 'yes', even though I don't have it in front of me to test. If you like, I could test it for you and let you know when I'm home from my holiday. Let me know if you'd like me to do that. 😊👍
Hi Joshau. Please excuse my delay in replying. Work has been crazy. Please check out my videos on the iX1600 and iX1300 but please keep in mind that these scanners don't have the same heavy duty build or advanced scanning features.

Is this scanner easy to use when scanning mixed letter/legal documents? Does it scan into a PDF?

It is can scan paper A3?
Hi there. No. A3 size is 297 mm x 420 mm. The maximum paper size this scanner accepts is 216 mm x 355 mm.
is there a more affordable alternative?
