Thanks for the Video's. Searching for electronics is maddening unless it is something you work with everyday. I need a machine that can do a good job on Photo's and Documents, for myself and other family members. Trying to end the clutter. I've pretty much settled on the Scan Snap xI1600, thanks again

Do you need to a computer to scan or can it scan directly to cloud?

NOTHING is as easy as you show it. Very frustrating. I finally got the scan done and now I am battling the Excel part. It asks me questions about the way to display that I don't know how to answer. I am seriously rethinking this purchase. There is no Voila!

I need to understand if I should buy the iX1600 Receipt Edition or the Premium. I don't have quickbooks, but do want to scan receipts. Is the iX1600 Receipt and Premium the same except the receipts go to quickbooks for the receipt version? Is the premium better because it comes with a 4 year warranty? I want to make the right purchase and appreciate your help. Thanks.

Exactly. Super major flaw. Cannot list the notebooks themselves alphabetically, especially online. Can do it manually only on the desktop app. But this does not replicate online. It becomes super infuriating to know you have notebook "online". But you can't find it...

I often have to scan documents that consist of more than 100 sheets/pages; in such cases, can I split the document into several parts and scan them one after the other and still get one coherent document?

Nice job. The ScanSnap Home document management system makes some attempt to OCR the scanned pdf file and tries to name the file based on the document content. It's usually not very successful, but better than having at the end of the week hundreds of newly scanned pdfs all with nearly identical names. The document management software is actually pretty nice.

"I love my IX1500-it’s the perfect size and works really well. However, there are a few things that annoy me: (1) Scansnap software: This is by far the biggest frustration. If I scan a document, move the PDF file to another directory, and rename it in Windows, Scansnap won’t recognise the file when I bring it back into the Scansnap software. The software is crippled. It insists on having the exact original file name (that is hard if you won't remember the filename) (2) File compatibility: For example, when I scan a training folder that’s in a ring binder, I use my HP scanner to scan the folder cover, only as it won’t fit through the Fujitsu scanner. I use the Fujitsu to scan all the training pages. However, Scansnap will not read PDF file created by other software like HP scanner. This means I can’t merge the files, which is quite inconvenient. Why limit Scansnap’s functionality this way? (3) Multiple Wi-fi networks. The scansnap is portable. However, I wish it could remember multiple Wi-fi networks. (4) Auto-renaming. The scanner tries to come up with a document name, but I wish it was smarter. For instance. I prefer document names with YEAR-MONTH-DATE. WHy can't it read the document and create it in this format. (5) It does not support TWAIN, which mean you cannot use third party software.

I'm still not clear on the difference between the premium and the Chromebook edition. Everything just says "it's built for chrome book" but still works with Mac and PC, but what does that mean exactly? Will i lose some Mac and PC functions if i choose the Chromebook edition?

I coughed too violently and got a pneumothorax. I wasn’t even short of breath. I’m a female 5’3” and very petite and athletic. Just from coughing! I had a chest tube put in and it was incredibly painful. Pick a good hospital and don’t let them deprive you of pain medication. I never felt my lung collapse. It didn’t hurt prior to getting the tube put in, and that part had me begging for death!

Many video reviews spend as much time telling you what they are going to tell you or show you as they do showing you. This video is a great example. The incessant self advertising also irritates and sends me looking elsewhere. I'm sure some of his info was valuable and he is sincere but I came for a hands on review and don't have all day for self sell. In seminars and courses it is appropriate to spend 20 percent of time telling you what you are going to learn. But not in quick review UA-cam's.

Please Help!! When you scan a long receipt it can't be printed? If I attempt to print, it says 1 page. Doesn't matter if the can is a PDF or a JPEG the entire massive receipt is on a single page so you can't read it if you need to make a print. I could easily split that long receipt into 3 pieces on the same exact page and then it would be readable

What about people who want to make prints of receipts? Especially long receipts? My long receipts are narrow enough where 3 would fit onto a single print but as far as I know, with ScanSnap my long receipt will require 3 pages and the receipt only takes up the center of each page.

Does this scanner work for received invoices that need to be paid from QuickBooks Online, or does it only work with receipts?

Hi Sean, Is there any way to set up strictly on a mobile device to link to NAS? I can’t seem to set up profiles at all and my laptop is out of date to download the software. All I get is the option to download it to my iPhone files app and there are no user profile setups.

What software can I use? I just purchased Neat Desk and the software is now a pay and I don’t want to pay to scan and organize. I used to use PaperPort way back in the day. What do you recommend today in 2025? I am very experienced at scanning, I have a HP mfp and can scan to desktop file I set up but the auto doc feeder is crap and jams non stop so I purchased a used neat desk and now I found out the software no longer works

How are you doing now? Can you do fun excursions on vacation like ziplining and stuff?

I have a large number of family photos of various sizes to scan. So I would like to scan them quickly, without having to adjust the guide, or indicate the photo dimensions before scanning. It seems that ix1300 can do this. Is that correct? Also, can the ix1600 also be used for the same purpose?

Good content, but IMO, the multiple camera angles don't work. Just face the camera. And don't hold the item you're reviewing during your commentary. Keep it simple. But thanks for the excellent information.

I don't understand why ABBYY FineReader is mentioned here? I just bought an ix1300. I have not installed Finereader; I'm just using ScanSnap's built-in OCR. As far as I can tell, everything you are showing works without Finereader--it extracts vendor names, amounts, etc. The big drawback is that in Receipt mode, it does NOT do "normal" OCR. Want to find the receipt for the hammer or gutter? Good luck--you'll have to open every Home Depot receipt, maybe going back years. Or did you buy that at Ace Hardware? I will probably use the Documents profile to create searchable PDFs of receipts, which means I'm back to manually naming each file, and no CSV tallying.
