Mitsubishi *what* were you thinking when you designed the back of the Evo wagon...
statesidesupercars Im assumings the wrx wagon
statesidesupercars I kinda like it
statesidesupercars I like it
its coz its part still a mitsi cedia
They made it perfect
Wish we had the evo wagon in the states.
Gears and Gasoline hey G&G you rock !
we don't need that evo wagon. the US used market is filled with cars that have more power and cost less, and some of them are even wagons.
love your videos by the way.
That's weird. I've seen 3 Evo wagons so far n in the states.
would have been discontinued by now anyway.
I believe the main reason for the Boxer rumble is the unequal length headers. Also, that forester definitely has an aftermarket exhaust which amplifies it. I've been driving Subarus for the last 9 years, and love the intoxicating sound.
I've owned my Sti Forester for 5 years now, turbo back exhaust, no cats, dyno tuned, 202kw (270hp) at wheels with 390nm. Dropped 40mm on Tein coilovers with Prodrive wheels. Is such a beast, sounds unreal and appreciating in value.
I have a Forester STi 2 Type M with similar setup and love it
living in the states, we don't have the sti. I got a 2007 forester xt limited that is slowly making its way to sti status though. Lowering springs, rays gramlight 57dr, syms wing, wangan waist spoiler, sti intercooler, zerosports gauge pod with sti genome gauges, invidia g200 catback exhaust and many other small things. About to drop some money on a jdm sti front end conversion!
I personally prefer the Forester STi over the Lancer Evo...
i prefer the impreza wagon
Jens Thoelen I prefer the impreza sti fast af boi
I prefer the Koenigsegg Regera
Quinn Kirlew Always someone like you.
same but when it comes to the sedans evo any day...way faster and cheaper to build and will make more hp.
I wanna see them facing the Nissan Stagea. That would be very interesting ;)
Master Ed ayy
I've one they can borrow!
Yes, the Autech 260RS especially
Master Ed yep, when i see it it seems it missing stagea.
oh hell yeah !!!
Fun fact:the Forester shares the same platform as the Impreza, including the STI. Which means an STI suspension will bolt up right under it and turn it into a monster.
car throttle(or someone else) would you want a ae86
Yes please.
Car Throttle when will you make a list of cars on a tight budget for the US?
Car Throttle it would be great
Windows98 ill take one
Yes becaus Initial d
The Evo wagon eats the RS4 wagon for breakfast. There's a video of a Swedish guy testing them back to back. That thing is bonkers fast.
Good review, thanks. I've had an FSTI 5 years and you pretty much nailed what it's like to own and drive. Super sound, super performance, super practical and higher gearing in gears 4-6 make it more highway friendly than the Impreza it is based on. And nothing like it exists in Japan these days. Latest 'hot' sti wagon from Subaru? A 1.6l CVT with red stickers. I cry. Until I turn the key on the Forester. Cheers.
I *LOVE* the boxer rumble from that Forester STI.
Subaru legacy spec b? Big enough for a family, quite fast and looks awesome
Great car, awful fuel economy though.
Zero Ninety yeah I guess these two also do :D
Zero Ninety well its a turbo 4 cyl its not a na civic
MysticBlack nothing wrong with na civics 🌚🌝
They're bad even for a Turbo 4 cylinder. I used to own one, that's how I know. Loved everything else about it though.
The under steer on the forester is insane tho... That back also swings wrecklessly
I’ve replaced my e46 330i touring with an 06 forester xt. Must say the noise and the turbo lag definitely make it fun to drive everyday. Need to save up for an FSTI next :)
EVO wagons are really cool mix in a GTX35 and 700hp and you are on to a winner!
Eh, I prefer keeping my cars stock.
Finally something with some decent cars in it. I do love a good Evo wagon I'm not going to lie
Watching this i realized that indeed the sound of the STI was used for Roman’s Eclipse in 2 fast 2 furious:))
You could have included the other Mitsubishi wagon, which is the Legnum VR-4. Bigger engine, same drivetrain and power output as these ones. Plus you can get it for much cheaper!
and the engine sounds better in its way
HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT THE LAN EVO WANGON!?! IT WAS MY OLD CAR (this is a joke)
Forester is my dream first car
Forester is amezing car 😁
My one is making me happy :-)
I always say that the forester( SG9 2007)is my 1sr dream car too. I swear..its just so awesoma to find that there is someone wlse who thinks and dreams and desires like me.forester is just great..the frameless windows, the high speed it generates its just the thing..we will get them for sure.
In America you can get a 1990s Buick Roadmaster wagon
Car Dynamics haahahah
You laugh, but those old roadmasters are the KING of cheap speed (straight line speed anyway, lol, they handle like a marshmallow).
That's the charm of those old Roadmasters, being the last "road boats". They're immensely fun to _try_ to chuck around corners, and just feel the roll.
@@lynnmckenney1987 lmao I think it'd be hilarious to corner it.
@@lynnmckenney1987 The 94-96 Caprice 9C1's with the LT1 actually out performed the Crown Vic in every measure. They handled, braked, accelerated better, and were more comfortable inside.
I don't mind ads, I don't mind buffer, but when ads buffer, I suffer
NOT ORIGINAL!
Unoriginal af
You should've reviewed the Gf8 STi, literally the best looking wagon out there.
Had a Evo 9 wagon for 4 years here in New Zealand ,Best car i have ever had or driven ,reluctantly had to sell it 2 years ago ,still miss it ,not sure how much it costs to insure in the UK but here in NZ it only cost me $700 a year fully comp
Taillights are red, hids are blue, i'd never take you over my Subaru.
Kuba Linhart jdm poetry
Hahaha thats gold
Who cares about the interiors if it's fast!
Milan Interior aren't necessary, cause weight reduction bro
Racercar drivers don't need girlfriends! Lol
Anyone with eyes. Step into an audi and then look at japanese cars and tell me what you see.
Sayuj Raphael Only cookie cutters care about interiors
wrong use of that word.
as a Forester owner, it's definitely a sleeper. It's always fun leaving people who think it's just an autotragic heap.
I would pick an Impreza over an Evo any day purely for the boxer burble... Massive respect to both cars though!
Sam Pagett The good Subies dont burple - its only a sign that the owner bought a cheapo version without ELH's..
Mika Veijalainen you know nothing about subarus with a stupid comment like that.
My brother has a 2008 Subaru Forester XT and just recently tuned it up to around 250 hp I believe. It is stupid quick and so much fun, we don't get Forester STI's here in North America so the XT is the closest you'll be able to get. The XT would basically be the WRX equivalent to the Forester STI.
that ridiculous noise from forester is just amazing
If age isn't a issue, I'd also consider the 04-06 Volvo v70r 6 speed. 5cyl turbo, 300hp 296ft lbs or torque adjustable suspension and a awesome noise. Also better build quality if that's a biggie for you.
Nice video.I think Forester is better because its suspension is softer for daily driving and its AWD system allow to have nice weekend offroading too :)
Never knew they made an evo wagon... thats like my wet dream
Love that Subaru sound!!
Wasn't a fan of the Evo station wagon, but gotta admit it has kick. 😊
that Lancer is dope af! M5 Touring? not for me :)
The EVO wagon can sound really good
Ive heard some Forester with a really deep burble
I'm 17 and still have my first car which is a 2005 Forester x and I love it. It isn't quick at all but it is smooth and comfy to drive and very reliable. Has over 360000kms on the clock and hasn't missed a beat
Callum Goodall how much did you get yours for?
@@finlayhesp5920 2500 aud
this made me miss my legnum vr4 :(
Yeah, this is a great test.
Pls make more of these affortable car tests and comparisions.
Legacy STi would be my choice. Only seen one in the UK but test drove one in Japan and it was awesome. Great combination of both of these cars and looks a shit ton better then the Evo wagon.
such a good car i brought one 2001 sf gt turbo - $6400 = spent money on suspension steering and brakes - wrx turbo with a 3 inch exhaust 150 mph shopping wagon.
UPDATE = new engine RA STI SPEC C ej207 with auto trans and diff LSD 4.44 now we are cooking HP !
I got a Honda Accord type r as a practical family car and as far as cheap performance cars that can fit the whole family I'd say it's spot on
the subaru, its fucking awful
ADAM WOOD how come
hes a mitsushitty fan boi
haha, not at all. i dislike the aesthetics of both, but the subaru is just gopping, just truly ugly. i mean, the back of the mitsubishi isnt inspiring, but at least the front is ok. but the subaru, really? they probably ran out of R&D money and thought "that'll do" the body just looks like "that'll do"
Subaru does not hire car designers and pass on the savings to their customers , I always tell people to drive one for atleast a week and you'll be hooked .
They don't hire designers? Yeah I can believe that, it explains a lot..
Subaru Boxer engine... awesome sound, and 4g63 of Lancer Evo... Amazing
Love the subie
I am not entirely sure if they were ever available where this show is filmed, but I feel a better comparison for Subaru would be a Legacy gt wagon (possibly spec-b), it's a lower to the ground more performance oriented (similar to Evo wagon) wagon while the Forester (a crossover suv) would be better compared to the Mitsubishi Outlander which is the same crossover style. But thats just my 2 cents still loved the film!
Evo = Racetrack. WRX =Street racing.
Prins van Oranje what? you can do both with the evo and putting a crossover on the race track would Kinda be retarded wouldnt it?
Yeah, what I meant was that the Subie is a bit more comfy and the Evo will preform better on a track.
You should have tried a tuned legacy spec.B. Handling of wagon with the boxer rumble!
Man that Forester sounds good!
Subaru has the forester, forester sti, legacy, legacy sti, impreza wrx, impreza wrx sti. Mistubushi has the Evo, which is fine but you cant have a mad fast turbo Mitsubishi unless you want to spend heaps on an Evo. Subaru fans have so many options..
Nissan Stagia??
ZeGenesis stagea
extremely expensive and almost impossible to find...
warowner9 ...they're like 10k
I was only thinking about the r34 cause i dont like the look of the older ones... In that case you are right but still a very rare car
over here in aus they cost from 5.5k dollars up
Not sure about "looks to die for", but yeah fits the bill for a family-friendly performance car.
COULD YOU DO THE IMPREZA STI (SUBARU) PLEASE!!!!!
Not an Estate i know, but for Sleeper points. My "Saab 9000 2.3T Aero" tuned to 320bhp does the 70-100 dash in 3.5 seconds in just 3rd gear. That pretty much leaves anything, apart from supercars.
Glad you made this video. I have a modded fxt and I absolutely love it. Mine isn't quite at 350 but I think that would be a great range.
Can confirm everything about the forester STi, absolutely awesome car. Though i drive the first model of it, a 2000 SF5 STi straight from japan.
Forester STI is my dream car
MrCommentator Get one ! You won’t regret it. I shall be buried with mine !
Ita my 1st dream car too..cant count how many pics or foresters i ve in my phone.its just soo good
you have to try the Mitsubishi Galant VR6
Thank you for profiling these cars. I've spent hours torturing myself on Torque GT, specifically with these cars, because I know just how much you would get for the outlay. I agree the Forester is cool, but in stock form the Evo would munch it, not to mention the rarity factor of the Mitsubishi. Even by JDM import standards, it must be amongst the rarest available, hence the price tag. I think these two are in a market all to themselves. German equivalents are stratospherically priced in comparison (and nowhere near as cool). Skyline's are, again, a step apart and not found in wagon form from the factory. For those in the know, there is no alternative to either of these cars. Put it this way: a top spec Evo Wagon for 16k is still less expensive than a brand new Fiesta ST in the UK. It's a no-brainer.
What there was an Evo Wagon.. Shit I never knew
2500 worldwide
From 5:04 to 5:09, that was a great angle ! Very immersive !!
I agree with your choice Subarus are better 😀
Car throttle evo wagon vs stagea pls
we got the Forester XT in the states; I wish they had brought the Forester STi over - you can throw wrx wagon specific suspension at the Forester STi and have a really fast wagon instead of a quick CUV, there aren't many wagons in the states, and there certainly aren't any that are fun and affordable anymore. Same goes for the Evo wagon, we didn't get that in the states either.
what about a gen 2 legacy gtb ? massive boot, reliable car, cheap (below £3000) look great, nice interior, fast as hell, easy to modify, easy to tune, all around the superior choice over a Forrester which isn't really a proper wagon, and a lancer estate
I just bought a Subaru Outback last week. It has the same engine as the Forrester, but the body is a little lower and wider. I can't wait until I have the money to tune it up. U
why the forestor over wrx wagon?
i don't get it either
because the wrx would win no doubt
Apart Media I'm about to go crazy from what you just said
More interior space, less of a cop magnet, similar or more power.
All that matters when buying a car is;
1. Do I need it ?
Mode of transportation and practicality, not to show of to the neighbourhood, while craving attention.
2. Do I want/like it ?
Personal taste is still personal taste, you drive, you choose.
3. Can I afford it?
Next to the selling price, check up on maintenance cost or any known issues.
There is a reason why some performance cars are being sold after a certain mileage.
Also think about safety. When dealing with performance, you need the best tires and brakes=> money!
The E36 M3 video's are a good reference point when it comes to costs after purchase.
Love the Forester but goddamnit it's thirsty. Don't think I could live with that...
subaru army!!!
Fronty YES
Fronty the evo doesn't look that appealing, the Forster looks bad ass
Will Harris agreed
Ya sure
c:
In the US we have the Outback XT and Legacy GT Wagon. Both very fast wagons. I own a manual Outback XT myself.
Well it's nice, but it isn't SuperGramps
for me the forester it's perfect because I'm at high school and I work with my dad, and I would love to give it a track day some time it seems to be pretty fun !!!
Oh, cool. there is a Evo behind me. i let him pass me.
oh shit that's a wagon! WTF :(
when you look at both of them from the fron youre like oo yea SO CRISPY when you look at the back youll throw upp
Looks like we got a real car guy here... Doesn't even know where the ACD button is on the evo he's reviewing? So he just ignores one of its best features... Smh
Top End Seriously. I'd like to see this fat headed moron get 450hp out the forester Sti. I'm sure the head gaskets and rings will love it. What a fool.
They All Fall Evo can make more power stock due to the fmic and bigger stock turbo. If you pass that stock point, the Subaru is a much better platform with better drivetrain.
not even, Subaru engines blow ringland stock if you want to compare a built ej to a built 4g63, I hate to tell ya but the 4g63 will come out on top, its well known through out both communities that if you want a good road car, you get a Subaru, but if you want a race car, you buy an evo
Just because he doesn't know where a button is on a dashboard, doesn't mean he isn't a car guy.
it's staring him right in the face. drivers side, by the door, right of the steering wheel. all the ACD switches are there. SMH
With a few easy bolt ons and an exhaust system it would sound much better than it does now i think.
_"It's JDM, so it's gonna be reliable"_ Unfortunately, NO.
Fuji heavy industries does know how to make reliable stuff, and now they have learnt some management skills to make more profit: just sell crap, the quicker it breaks down, the faster you can sell a new car or charge huge money for an overhaul.
I mean, even Toyota is doing this, even ****ing Toyota, right? They are omitting little features that didn't increase weight, nor consumption, little features that had no cons but made the engine reliable. One thing is the holes under the 3rd piston ring, they are easy to drill, and serve a purpose: oil that is scraped from the cylinder wall has a place to go, those holes. Now, even VAG, BMW, Toyota, etc. are drilling less and smaller holes, which gives a cost saving of 0.20$; the bloody result is that small holes get clogged up quicker and your engine starts using oil. Some bastards from Nissan or Jaguar don't drill these holes at all.
Subaru has some strange fetish going on with plastics inside the FB20 engine block, the only purpose of those pieces of plastic is to let less coolant reach the cylinder. It's full of things like this.
^^same story with gearboxes and electronics; worst thing of all: it's designed in such a way that it's expensive to repair, because you need special equipment and specially made OEM-parts.
#bringback2jz
Subarus especially seem to be shit for reliability, they always seem to be blowing head gaskets, destroying gearboxes and all different sensors seem to fail crippling them in one way or another
Callum Pearce
Yes, except that's not Subarus thing, it's the thing of new cars in general.
Old Subarus were great, and new cars are almost all shit.
---
No really, if you take apart a bmw engine you will notice they started using weaker valve springs on the m62 than they used on older engines. If you just look into the details you will see so many ways in which they purposefully decreased lifelime...
---
By the way, on crappy sensors: often cleaning the sensor fixes it, especially hall sensors for the cam+crank shafts if they are place inside the engine.
Also a good fix is to spray hydrophobic silicone on the contacts, especially during winter time.
---
The boxer diesel had head gaskets that were not oil-proof, or at least not VW-longlife-oil-proof. Another problem is cooling of the engine; and an overheated engine can *** up valvesprings and piston rings, and blow the gasket because of too much expansion.
---
The brands so know how to fix their problems, moreover they have done it before, but now they purposefully deny to.
+Callum Pearce and I presume you've owned every single subaru to declare this statement? The blown-gasket problem occured in some 2.5 engines and that only began in early 2000s. Some may still have this problem, but that could be down to poor maintenance, because boxer engines require to be looked after. I also believe you're just talking about high-performance Subarus like the WRX. Well, some people like to "thrash" their WRX's because they think they were built that way, so inevitably something breaks. However, looking at the reliability surveys, Subaru name always comes up on the list, whereas I struggle finding cars like Ford anywhere in the list.
Geri Jokūbaitis
_Some may still have this problem_
I tell you: boxer diesel from 2008...
It's gasket wasn't VW-longlife-oil proof.
---
When comparing Subaru to other cars, it's not that bad; even when comparing Subaru's in general to other JDM cars, it's fine.
But if you compare new Subarus to Old Subarus, it's terrible enginge- and gearbox-wise (for the CVT). The CVT is just a type of gearbox prone to overheating... I have to say Subaru CVTs are not worse (if not better) than other CVTs.
Yet new subarus can take a lot of offroad-abuse, and usually the only thing to fix the bumper is to click it back and remove the chrome insert prior to offroading.
Damn that is some beautiful cinematography. Who ever shot some of those scenes, Good fucking job dude.
I personally love the plastic interiors of JDM, like my Mitsubishi Lancer, because its a constant reminder that what we paid for is under the bonnet
Evo Wagon > STi
I'm looking for a manual is300 right now. It will be so much fun to drive once i get one.
The evo is better than the subaru for looks, rep and i love it.
Rodrigo Bastos YOU wrong SUBARU is more balance why you say cause is faster HahahA SUBARU won RALLY race more than evo SUBARU won 24 hours iN Germany 4 times
K well have fun with that reliability :P
You want a loud exhaust? You should try my Evo 7! Thats loud!
I would choose a Forester STi over a Evo Wagon and im a die hard Mitsubishi fan. But if it was Evo sedan vs Impreza STi sedan. I would get a Evo.
Dear car throttle I have one more car for you to think about my Audi all road 4.2 it has a 4.2 liter V8 engine that produces with an ECU tune 374 horsepower. It also has all wheel drive but it has leather seats heated everything and a zero to 60 time of 5 seconds dead. I picked this car up for only $6,700 U.S. dollars. It has had no reliability issues and I bought it with 87,000 miles and now I have 145,670 miles.
dat sound gives me chills..
Nooo way how did you find an evo wagon! Im going to have to move to England now.
i love my forester ive fitted a td04 bigger intercooler and king springs with a 2inch lift totaly changed the driveability next steps are a set of sti pinks and fuel pump upgrade and a remap oh and 16x225x70 insa turbo dakars its gonna be so much fun in a muddy field
Id go with the Evo Wagen all day! Wish there were some in the states!
Wait, so they made a forester sti and an evo wagon as production cars? I always thought people just engine swapped them and put a front end kit on it.
That particular sg9 has considerably higher suspension than normal jdm sg9. This fact affecting handling impression pretty much
I miss my Evo Wagon!
I like the Evo wagon, but DAAAAMN! It's extremely rare here, in Russia. We have only one in sell all over the country and the price is $32.000 for a car, that was imported from Japan 9 years ago >______>
Evo wagon one of my favorite evo alongside with evo 6.5 TME RS
wow, a sunny day in the island...
Should have conpared the EVO Wagon with the legacy WRB or S402
Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo. 5 cylinder 20v turbo & very tuneable to 500bhp. Pick them up from £1500
Also if you are looking for fast wagons you should definitely give a try for Volvo V70 R. Amazing sounding 300hp inline 5 awd and IMO better looking than either of those two.
Not sure what parts are like where you are but where I am we pay nearly triple the price for parts compairing a euro to a jdm spec car. Euros may seem cool but something goes wrong n your fked if you don’t have the cash
CarThrottle is home for all the car people
