Ended up deciding to go to a back-to-basics approach with my UA-cam uploads and resume making synthesizer demos. These are selected presets from the first non-GM program bank of the Korg X5DR, which I was deeply motivated to acquire recently.

From demos like this one, I would say the only missing sound would be the FM chime from the DX line (it does create passable semblances of the electric grand piano) .
Get him up to 5K so we can get the T2 theme boys!
Very spooky sounds. I love it!!
Pretty sure that the SynTronic preset was used in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
When I had this to record with sounded amazing thru 8 track cassette. Now I've graduated from these. Now korg TR rack,NS5R,and my 88 key N1 has it all. Same FM and AI1 set and AI2 as well. So I have the M1 TRiton TR Trinity X ,WO1, And T series 234,364 all these in two modules. Yep.
all sounds are very good
Pipedreams reminded me of Oneohtrix Point Never, same for Asian Jung
Also, mallet loop just basically the sample from forest temple from Zelda ocarina of time song.
interesting perspective. Asian Jung i could see being used in Magic OPN but PipeDreams sounds too crisp lol
Thanks for the upload. Pipedreams most be the patch Vangelis used on the 1492 soundtrack.
Yes the universe great sound
Nr. 10 'Transform' is clearly what Sony used for the PS1 startup logo 😃 crazy
That's impossible. The Playstation was made in 1994 while the X5DR was produced one year later.
They used a Roland D-50 for making the PS1 sound I think
Actually, they sampled a roland d-50
And made the other sounds in the ps1 startup sound are samples
Dope
Que bellos sonidos
lovely
Is it possible to make the unreleased music from the movie Labyrinth?
Thanks for the great demo, bro! I had the Korg X3 / X3R, great synth, but it didn't have reso filters. Does the X5DR have a filter with resonance?
Thanks for the message. Sadly, the X5DR only has an exciter feature for the filter: true resonance wasn’t until the Trinity.
@@PythonBlue Thanks for the info, Python!
You can mimic resonance using a parameter from one of the effects, can't remember if from distortion or exciter. Works really good!
@@littlebritain64 Yes, with the Parametric Equalizer you can do it, works quite good yes!
Hey there and thanks for making t his video
I just got myself a korg x5dr today and all seems fine hoever
i wanna try change to the G bank to here the gm sounds hoever i cant figure out how
according to the manual i need to press the PROG button then BANK button and it should switch
and in the display somthing infact happens and i do se a G infront, however i then have no sound no matter what sample number i pullout using the arrow keys
what am i missing. Do i need to Confurm that i have selected the G bank or what am i doing wrong ?
I hope you can find time to assist :)
Are these the original presets?
please a video about bank B and other video about COMBI patches
Yes please!
Hi there guys, anybody knows why my bank A presets are way different from these ? I have the exact same module.
How Many banks has it?
Thank you so much for this video. I'm trying to connect this to my mac so I use use it with my DAW's midi sequencer (logic pro x). I connected it via focusrite 2i4 midi in and out and between the computer's midi settings and i can'tn seem to get any sound from it. Any ideas?
Do you have an audio interface for the audio output of the module to connect to your computer? It’s a separate connection from MIDI.
I am using the "Midi In" and "Midi Out" on my audio interface.
I can't use the audio output and still sequence the sounds, can I?
Will any 12v adaptor work with one? Or does it have to be the original.
I would say using another power supplier could be safe: check one of good quality, Ac/Dc if the Korg is Ac/Dc, same voltage (V) and same or a little higher Ampere (A) . Check also if + and - match on both machine and supplier ( usually on synth boxes is written).
Thank you very helpful
I'm so glad to hear all the D'ni Legacy references in here hahaha
Glad to see I’m not the only one familiar with that web game!
@@PythonBlue it's honestly a pretty intense absurdity to find someone else familiar with it just by randomly browsing synth demos! It's hard enough to find people who have any interest in Myst-likes at all, but an obscure myst fangame from the 90s that was originally a browser game consisting of html links between pre-rendered 3d stills?! really was startled to hear those references (and sound sources!) in here, even if i knew you liked myst-likes from your other videos. always loved the ost so was pretty happy to hear it too!
Sounds like the o5/rw
Yes, the 05r/w was strangely misnamed, it is not really an 01 family-member. It is really the most of sample ROM from the X3/X5 range, and the same ROM is also on the X5DR and X5SR. The 05RW would have better been called the X3r/w or X5 r/w, except it isn't a true rackmount copy of the X3 or X5 either, it is slightly different.
What does non general midi presets mean? Are these included with the x5dr factory or do you have to download them...
I think I know what it refers to. This module contains a synonymous engine with the M1, and it probably includes M1 patches that don't (necessarily) conform to General MIDI.
@@ericbgordon1575 so some the sounds are M1
Wow
One patch, "Piano 60", originated in the M1, @@spellerlittlewing. I know there are others besides.
1:20 I feal like I've heard this somewhere before...

Pretty sure that John Carpenter worked with one of this
