Welcome to the Letterman UA-cam Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.

Boy George was sentenced to 15 months in prison for attacking Norwegian model Audun Carlsen. He was convicted of assault and false imprisonment after being found guilty of handcuffing Carlsen to a radiator and beating him with a metal chain.
Do you understand pride people are extremely physical and violent to women and children?

3:57 - The audience laughter followed by George's playful yet sincere admonishment. Killing them with kindness, indeed. Remarkable interview and impressively composed for living his truth in a time when it couldn't have been easy. He's been through a lot; hope he's hanging in there these days.

As a child of the 80’s George and the Culture Club were ever present in those days. You couldn’t turn on the radio or mtv without hearing him. A pioneer musically and socially. Gracefully paved the way for so many others in the face of much adversity.

Boy George imo became a walking contradiction. Looked like a woman but wants to be called Sir. I hate that word and I consider it misgendering when someone refers to me as that.. BG may be seen as a pioneer but he gives into the right wing bigots and is kind of one himself now. He went against trans people actually.

Culture Club, Van Halen, Twisted Sister, Cyndi Lauper, Lene Lovich, Prince, Michael Jackson, ABC and if I thought for longer I could remember more. These are the faces and songs for pre-kindergarten me with a sibling that was 7 years older. I'm glad we got our MTV in Podunkville. I distinctly remember Church of the Poison Mind IN the parking lot of the apartment complex we were living in. For almost a full year. Car radios, cheap boomboxes and even little transistor radios on the steps. I would go as far as saying Georgie Boy who wasn't at his best at some points the past 35 years, should be considered one of those international treasures. He is. There is no other Boy George. He and Culture Club made songs that have become some of the new "standards". Karma Chameleon is just as important as I Got Rhythm. WAR IS STUPID!

The banter between these two is genuine and funny without being offensive, even though they are very different people. Dave was the best at getting the best out of people. George is a highly evolved being and truly exceptional songwriter and musician. I grew up in the 80’s but was born a Metal Head, it wouldn’t be until my teen years that I expanded my musical palette and well into my twenties before rediscovering Culture Club and appreciating their music. I would recommend a second listen to anyone that might’ve not been a fan in their heyday, they were deeper than the standard pop music back then.

As I age...I actually respect someone like Boy George more than Dave, because he isn't afraid to just be who he is, to embody how he feels, to be kind, nice. Dave meanwhile functions more like a guy who tries to poke and bring out something uneasy in people, to sort of unsettle them, almost provoke them. Which is...weird, it's like he comes off as someone who was afraid to be who he was, so he acted like being culturally conventional and questioning anything unusual is the only sane or smart thing to do. Which means Dave put way too much stock in what others think of him?
Dave got more interesting with age, but here he was just brash and kinda crude. It's quite interesting George wasn't emotionally phased by it at all, that takes some very firm and mature peace with who you are. I never saw an interview with him before, but he comes off smart, well.

I forgot how tall George O'Dowd is. I met him back in UK, when Malcolm McLaren managed the band that became Bow WOw Wow and wanted George to front the band except Malcolm wanted George to call himself Lieutenant Lush. This line up didn't last beyond a few rehearsals. Next time I heard of George was this new band Culture Club. I had to agree with John Lydon's assessment at the time, he thought George was a great talent but his band had no balls , " they're so wimpy, so la-de-la-de-dah ".

He is not a murderer or a 14 year old that stabs a 17 year old as they do now.
You can talk, Most children now KILL .
George is a smart, sensible man who just dresses differently but has a lot of respect for people. Unlike the children of today that hate their parents/ rebel/ then become murderes and drug addicts, wanting everthing their " own way".
      Their attitude " stinks" today!
Unlike George, who's attitude is " caring".
