Yes, it's the idiots at charge these days. Morons who never understood anything about anything, and insists on telling everyone else what to think and do.

The naval battle reenactment inside the Colosseum never actually occurred during the time period depicted in the movie. These spectacles were known as Naumachia. Additionally, the presence of sharks in the water (as seen with a person falling in) is historically inaccurate; there's no evidence Romans brought sharks to the Colosseum. This seems to be another Hollywood exaggeration, albeit visually impressive, but I'm being a bit nitpicky about historical accuracy - that's Hollywood for you.
Naumachia was primarily about showcasing power and spectacle. The two young emperors ruling together as brothers didn't get along; the younger was eventually murdered by the other. The depiction of golden armor is another Hollywood embellishment. Furthermore, the idea of a massive battle ship charging straight against well-guarded giant walls, as seen in the trailer, is ludicrous and historically implausible. Storming harbors by hammering against such walls would be strategically foolish - it's just a ridiculous scene!
Ridley Scott has made similar historical inaccuracies before, as seen in his portrayal of Napoleon. It seems he's lost his touch in filmmaking. Rhino riding, as depicted, is another absurdity; it never happened in reality! Also, the inclusion of Lucile 20 years later is historically off, considering Commodus ordered her death after exiling her to a remote island near Syracuse, 19 years prior. How she appears in the movie is baffling.
The depiction of Caracalla is also confusing. He was known as a soldier-emperor who had little interest in politics and court affairs. His reputation as a bad emperor stemmed from his excessive military spending and frequent absences from imperial duties to campaign. The portrayal seen here resembles more of John Hurt's Caligula from "I, Claudius" rather than the historical Caracalla.
In summary, there are numerous historical inaccuracies and creative liberties taken in this movie

That dreadful song aside, looks epic, but.. the trailer doesn't really seem to have any flow to it.. I compare it to Alien Romulus, which DID have a flow. Doesn't set me on fire, but I am sure it will be more than adequate. The budget worry me though, at a rumoured $300 million, this need to do Barbie money at the B.O. and I don't think it will.
