Cheers, that was very helpful. I was under the impression that it was quite tricky to swap the battery but your video explained it very clearly and I did it in a couple of minutes.
Thanks Gary. It is deliberately an “idiots guide” and I know people should and can read manual , but many don’t. I’m hoping it’s kind of video somebody will search for when finding themselves stranded and wondering what to do!
@@ThePlugSeeker I'm a typical guy, why read an instruction book/manual when I could work it out myself - lots of head scratching later, I'll be watching one of your videos for the answer.👍🏻😉

Excellent advice, thank you. My LEAF wouldn't start the other day as 12v battery too low. I blame Leafspy dongle being left plugged in. I charged battery and all was ok. I didn't know about keyfob against push-button though.
To anyone finding it hard to open the key fob: There is no need for external tools. The fob is designed to use the built in key to open it. There is a tab in the key hole, Slightly put the key into that hole from it's side and you can easily open the key fob with minimal force.
Yes, this is Flame red colour, it goes really nicely on the Nissan Leaf. They have also brought this colour on the newer 40 and 62kWh Mk2 Leaf’s as well in U.K. I enjoyed this car, but last year I upgraded to a 62kWh Leaf in. Limited edition 3 tones, white with black back and a purple/blue roof
Yes. I tested both myself and they worked. This correlated with accounts online I found as well. However the CR 2032 is slightly wider and a site I found said on review that meant it had longer longevity. It still appears to fit fine however.

@@ThePlugSeeker Thankfully, no, but I've had the key battery warning on the dash before, and if I had procrastinated too long I would have had no idea how to start the car without this video. Also useful for an apocalyptic scenario, where button cells are unavailable 😉
Before I found this out I once went to a Tesco at 12am to get a new battery for the key ring cos it had died snd was worried I would be able to get to work next day 😂
"Gone out for a long drive" in my first generation 30 kWh Nissan Leaf???...you jest!! 😂 I LOVE my Leaf (I have exact same as yours, age and power) but a LONG drive is wishful thinking! I've managed 120 miles once driving VERY conservatively. Key info was great though, thanks.
I jest?? Checkout my videos, I drove my 30kWh Leaf from Surrey Glasgow , and I days when rapid chargers were not nearly as numerous everywhere like they are now.
@@ThePlugSeeker 👏🏻 well done. What I meant and what I should have said was "go for a long drive in a reasonable time (on a single charge?) I bought my 1st gen Leaf in London and it's first journey was a trip home to near Kinross in Scotland...only took 5 Chademo stops plus an overnight granny charge at a friend's in Yorkshire to get there!😂😂 But it did make it... eventually. Loving the key fob colin #productPlacement ! Cheers pal ! 👏👏
It really is my key ring for my spare key FOB 😁 but I wonder if any sleuths will follow the website out of curiosity 😉
Thank you for this post. Saved me driving across town to save my wife. Now I can get back to watching UA-cam 👍
Am so pleased to have helped. I actually myself (before I realised this) once went to hunt around a supermarket late at night for a battery. 🤦♂️
Please share channel 😂🙌
Great video, your step by step should help every Nissan Leaf owner maintain their key fob batteries.

So there is no manual key ignition switch to start the car... (as in turn key to start)?
No. EV’s have nothing to “ignite”, so turning a key is unnecessary, most just have an “on button”.
Thank you. Saved me a ton of time.

How much do the batteries cost as I paid £5 quid for Nissan to put it in for me.

always keep a spare 2032 in my glove box......funny my ENV has just started complaining the keyfob battery is too low....might change it soon then...
You seem to get a few weeks of warning before it runs out. Order on Amazon and will probably arrive before it runs out 😂
