@queenbrightwingthe3890 exaggeration in order to special summon hugin the runick card they use doesn't banish cards. They're gonna use at most 2 more runick cards to get draws off fountain so it's 6 cards max they banish especially with fountain at 1 and even when fountain was at 2 you'd have to have a very specific hand to use fountain twice on turn 1 if it hits your core peices or 1 ofs sure definitely annoying but there is a big difference between 6 and half a deck 😂. Remember runick is banish face up depending on what deck you play you can technically benefit from it kashtira for example banishes face down now that is busted
Yeah Konami beginning to realize how making everything a UR to encourage people to spend for gems would bite them in the butt when said URs are ruining the game and they have no choice but to hit the URs. They wanted to have their cake and eat it too, but now they're being forced to have to settle for needing to listen to player demand for the longevity of the game. This is a really good list!
Same problem is happening in dl, for both speed and rush. Konami gave us idp, which has become a game changer for the format, but it is already a limit 3 card, and since its a box ur, they cant hit to 2, 1 or ban it, they now will have to hit 1 or 2 cards from every strong deck to keep idp at bay, because they cant hit idp itself. And for rush, they released dragias as an box ur, also limited to 3, this card by itself is a ridiculously annouing boss that upon hit the board becomes priority n1 for the opponent to remove, since it can easilly deal a lot of damage. They could have put it as an sr, or made it f2p, but they didnt think through, or they were just too greedy, and now they cant hit dragias as well, and since its a generic card, it can easilly be dplashed into any deck and become an horribly strong boss.
@@neonoah3353 That's really unfortunate for DL. At least with MD Konami is realizing that there is a problem with their current philosophy and is taking the steps to adjust it. Did you know that the only reason why Tcboo was semi-limited for the longest time when Gozen and Rivalry went to 1 was solely because Tcboo was a UR? There wasn't any good justification to keep Tcboo at a lighter restriction when it's just as bad as the other 2 SR cards, so it's good that they put that mindset away when Stun was being a massive pain
The few times they didn't make good card URs are things like Kitkalos an SR, or the 2 smol purrely or even delicious being R. Those kind of things really give me the sign that they are ready to ban it if it ever become a problem and still give us nothing. Those rarely happens but it happened, and I want that to happen more.
Because there was no set rotation in YGO, this is inevitable problem tbh. design choice wise, I think that any card that gives +2 or more card advantage (draw/mill/discard or something) should be UR rarity 😮
Even with some of the floodgates getting hit to 1, Master Duel RNG your opponent is going to somehow hard draw the one of that they need every time. lol
I feel you when it comes to desires. The only deck I really used it in was sword soul. Even in that deck I only felt good about using it when cheng ying was on the feild to get the extra attack and banishes.
Man desires makes me so nervous. Those little 2 seconds when you're banishing cards and you don't know if you're gonna get ashed or not. And then if you draw 2 it is very scary to go and see what you have banished. Sincerely, even in swordsoul it feels so weird.
Hopefully this is a harsh lesson for Konami to realize that making EVERY GODDAMN CARD UR LIKE SAKITAMA is a horrible idea and will hurt them in the long run and us in the short run. It's not good for any body.

They took Diablo out from beginning and now kash is limited to one bord if broken it is almost gg 90% of the recovery gone. Chaos Ruler hit hearts alot to PUNK and Tearelemts. I have a wonderful Tear, PUNK, Bustiyal, Kash with a Superpoly target and link. With Dark Ruler gone this lost 50% of it is power.

I'm pretty sure the change in Chaos Ruler was in part due to Dis Pater coming out. I played against a deck that was using Bystials and lv 2 tuners to make Dis Pater to loop him and make a big annoying board. I don't know if it was super strong and consistent or if they just had a great hand vs my bad hand, but in the game I played it felt like Chaos Ruler was worth banning.
Putting my cynical hat on I think they just want all the dragon players to whale for the Rulers which very few if anyone would do with basically full power dragon link still legal.

Nah look at the ban list. People hate shit like Shock Master, VFD, Scythe, etc. and D Barrier has been one of the most hated side deck cards since Branded SwordSoul format. Most players generally want to play the game and agree that floodgates suck. Unless you’re arguing that a negate board is functionally a floodgate, which is a massive leap in logic since negation is finite whereas floodgates demand backrow removal else they’re infinite negation of a specific game mechanic. Unless of course it’s a lingering floodgate like D Barrier or VFD, which makes removal worthless and negation doesn’t exist for backrow outside of boss monsters that you won’t have set up by the time a D Barrier is flipped or Red Reboot.
@dariuspenner2528 negate boards function as floodgates when you don't get to play a single card in your hand without it being negated. They also require you to just "draw the out" or hope whatever handtrap you had before they started playing was good enough.
@ slaygoblins incorrect. Negates run out. Once a Baronne spent it’s negate it’s done. Same goes for Apollousa, Savage, etc. Negate boards also have way more that hard counters them. DRNM, Tactics/Thrust, Kaijus/Golem/Sphere Mode, Evenly, and every other form of mass removal hose negate boards and force negates prematurely. Floodgates specifically require backrow removal, of which all that’s commonly played is Duster. Can’t go into Phoenix under most of them and they function as infinite negates against specific mechanics until removed. You can at least play into a Baronne and bait negates to play. You can’t even attempt to play into garbage like TCBOO, Summon Limit, Antispell, etc. unless you drew into Duster or play other backrow hate. There’s an excessive amount of combo hate from board breakers to hand traps that not drawing into anything is unlikely. Not drawing into duster at 1 against stun however is very likely
Dragon Link went down but the Supreme King engine will allow us to still play the deck competitively. We’re just less likely to win tournaments but we can still top. We will be back at full power when we get Scarred Dragon Archfiend

Konami made a bunch of changes that any player could have (and did) tell them to make two years ago, and then took a shotgun to a bunch of pot cards and tier 2 strategies. Objectively, it's one of the best lists we've ever had for the game, but it also INFURIATES me, because I don't think Konami deserves praise for making a lot of decent changes after 2 years of them just being allowed to be problems, and then continuing to kinda ignore a lot of the more recent problems. I don't want to play a game that feels like it's working on a several month delay on solving issues that the playerbase can VERY easily identify, I love YuGiOh, it will usually be at least some part of my life, and MD being accessible makes it kibd of given that I would play it pretty consistently. But the fact that I don't WANT to play every day is kind of telling, I am literally the easiest target for Konami to entice to play, and the fact that they have ANY issue at all getting me to want to play every day means that it is failing on some level. I am that big of a fan, I am the lowest hanging fruit and they sometimes struggle to keep me invested, that does not bode well for retention of players who aren't already heavily invested in Yu-Gi-Oh as a IP.
A cute deck idea is Dragon Ruler Kashtira. You can keep attaching banished Rulers to Arise-Heart, use the extra level 7 bodies for a second Shingra-La, and keep detaching Rulers to add 1-3 cards to hand per turn for more bodies. The Kash bodies are the main elemental attributes, so that helps synergize further with the Dragon Rulers, and with them all being level 7, you can use Birth to normal summon Dragon Rulers without tribute if they're stuck in hand, too.
Birth limited to 1 people are not gonna waste resources on rulers if they are smart that is. It’s nothing more than trying to get people to spend on that pack simple as that
Im really surprised they hit floodgates. Just last month i made a complaint saying they were cool minus the fact that the same people were just shoving as many in some decks that they could. Followed by the irony that as they made cards that played around them, they were able to play with them too
At this point I’m questioning whether or not it’s even worth it to run the small Kashtira package in VS. Fenrir being able to grab either an earth or fire while providing an extra interruption going first was huge. Now I’d be stuck running something stupid like Scarekash if I wanted another earth off Fenrir, but both the Riseheart and Scarekash do pretty much nothing in the deck aside from sitting in hand. Might be worth throwing in Pank to hedge against going second as a frankly way better board breaker than Fenrir but the thing is useless going first. Same goes for Kaijus to make up for attribute deficits and even then those aren’t that good rn either. If you cut the Kashtira package you lose 4 cards plus the 1 TCBOO so that’s 5 slots to try and fill. Not an insignificant hit unfortunately
some decks already played 3 unicorn, a kasththiosis (however you spell it), and a birth for the full ariseheart line, but the deck is prolly a little less consistent with more bricks, but prolly still good to play if ur a VS enjoyer, ive seen a based list from the dc cup that played nadir servants to search out ecclesia and the trap so you can try that too
"Dragon Rulers won't do anything". Dlink guy completely rebuilds board through nib on his turn after nibiru and on his next turn after I clear it again.
Except that d-link prefer to play mostly light and dark dragon (aside from that dragunity link). Dragon rulers don't really have that much synergy in them. As a deck, they are just rank 7 engine or aurarodon turbo. As individual card, each of them better of being played in different decks like how redox fit well in earth pile deck, same as tidal in water pile.
Destruction to 1 is the second most questionable decision on this list, someone just HATES getting their engine pieces milled by the thing I guess. Birth going to 1 literally only hits "pure" Kashtira, I've NEVER seen or used an engine build with more than one of it, but I still find it funny so it gets a pass.

I’ve been playing D Link without Chaos Ruler for months now, still lines, but was a impactful hit. If you respect other decks with H/Ts Seals pass is still decent
I'm a chaos ruler enjoyer, but acknowledged it should probably be banned (my unholy 60 card punk thunder dragon-link tearlaments pile will have to go to sleep). Completely banning wyverburster though rather than say down to 1, kinda feels like taking D-link out back and shooting it (honestly I'd rather have seen chaos space go if they had to kill the consistency a bit). Maybe the red-eyes variants live on but boot sector and ravine search are now super exposed for the most part and probably will almost always require using the normal summon to attempt.
Having chaos ruler turns boards that would be Seals + Savage into full everything combo. I love the card but I think we can acknowledge it is insane at this point. Hitting Wyverburster hurts more.
There’s a lot of good cards still around. No one really touches dragunity and no one plays chamber dragon maid anymore. There will always be good dragon synergies, the question is if we are patient enough for the OCG to make a new standard.
They banned Terraforming and Demise, and all of the Pots to 1. I think Konami wants to see where decks stand on their own merit without the assistance of outside generic sources. I wouldn't be surprised if they banned ROTA soon, not necessarily because it's busting any particular deck but because it's making Warriors more consistent. I think Master Duel wants to only hurt consistency as opposed to outright killing any strategy.
@@kenja0685 Problem is that hurting consistency punishes weaker decks more than it does stronger decks. For example if you ban ROTA, something like say Heroic Challenger would be much more affected than Infernoble, even though they lose the same card. The more recent a deck is, the more inherent consistency it has, and so the less it relies on external consistency, which means banning external consistency doesn't affect it as much. It would be much better to look at the consistency tools of certain decks themselves, instead of the generic options.
@@DaShikuXIThis is a bad argument for 3 reasons: 1. It is not true that a more recent deck is more consistent, look at VS or kash and compare them to swoswo or zoo. 2. Weaker decks and stronger decks is not a constant thing in the meta, if a 'strong' deck gets hit then a 'weak' deck can take it's place in the meta. If this 'weaker' deck is abusing the same generic cards as the 'stronger' then fundamentally the meta hasn't changed. I would much rather play against a branded deck playing only in-archetype cards over generic pile of cards ft. prospy, terraforming, rota, chaos ruler and so on. 3. Most importantly, DECKS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO HAVE WEAKNESSES AND YES, BRICKING MORE OFTEN THAN OTHER DECKS IS A WEAKNESS. If you don't want to brick you can either: play more in-archetype cards, even if those are not as strong as your best starters. Or just play a different deck that doesn't brick as often even if it's a weaker deck.
@@kenja0685 Hurting Consistency of a Deck is good but POD at 3 solves that issue. Banishing 10 cards that could be garnets or potential starters with those cards being at 1 or 2 hurts Decks a lot more than having POD at 1 or even 2. For instance if POD is run with Kashtira, even though you draw 2, your copies of Fenrir and Unicorn might get banished.
Honestly a very good ban list. I would have outright banned the floodgates and pots, but it's close enough. The one thing I really do question here is the Wyverburster hit, as I feel like there are better ways to nerf Dragon Link. Wyverburster is used in other decks, like say Red-Eyes, which are now punished unnecessarily. Still a good ban list though for sure.
idk, if you were to hit dragonlink wyverburster is prettty good. it essentially makes seyfert bad to run and obviously makes collapserpant bad to run as well.
The "irrelevant deck is getting hit too" is a terrible argument for not hitting something. Dlink has been played for ages in various forms, and is a very flexible deck that's very difficult to hit effectively. Wyverburster ban is one of the few hits that's actually meaningful.

It is used more in DLink than Wyverburster, but banning it has less of an impact on other decks than banning Wyverburster, as less other decks play Levianeer. Considering the fact that Chaos Ruler also got banned this patch, a Levianeer ban makes much more sense than a Wyverburster ban, both for DLink and for other decks.
Wyverburster ban is a massive hit. Seyfert and chaos space is the best engine in the deck by far and banning Wyverburster completely invalidates Seyfert and turns chaos space from a flexible combo starter into a bystial card.
@@DaShikuXI You don't seem to know how DLink works. 1 - Levianeer is not used more than Wyverburster, thats absurd. If you're looking at the deck breakdown on MDM, 88% is only for people that use wyverburster at 2 copies. Coupled with people who play it at 1 and 3, wyverbuster is on 99% of DLink decks, and a lot of the remaining 1% is probably decks that got mislabled. 2 - Wyverbuster makes chaos space and seyfert into combo starters, plus it's the best extender if you already have other starters like black metal dragon. It is the cornerstone of the deck. Levianeer is a useful tool for boardbreaking that ocasionally gets used for extending and hand ripping if you open cracked. Doesnt even come up most games. Completely different roles. 3 - We are not throwing darts to decide on what the hit should be. If the goal is to take the deck out of the meta, the hit should be meaningful, and wyverburster is one of the most effective solutions. No one cares about "Red-eyes", I dont even know what that deck would look like and I've played MD since launch. If its playing wyverburster and the black metal package, it's probably just a worse DLink.
I will admit my current deck in master duel is based off of your runnick/bystail deck (with a few minor changes of course) that you won ycs with, honestly runnick destruction, is basically a reverse painful choice in a way, a 1 for 5 hit is pretty insane/advantageous, and even runnick smiting storm to an extent could be like that, if not more, granted you are running the risk of allowing your opponent to create an unbreakable board to be able to hit 5-ish cards. (Also that isn't even a guarantee as they could have a negate available to nuke the smiting storm.) Also I am in agreement with you about pot cards, even the one that allows you to choose which ones you toss away, they are good, but the drawbacks are always a bit risky imho. - I honestly kind of feel the same way about cards like tripe tactics talent/thrust, lightning storm etc, they are good/great if your are in a position you can use them, but often they are "dead" or useless cards that are simply just sitting in your hand. Though again that is just my opinion on them, they are good when they are good, bad when they are bad. xD
Banning chaos ruler and white dragon hurts a lot for chaos / light n dark decks. I mainly enjoy those but dragon link was the main reason those two cards got hit. The changes in the banlist are pretty fair and will shift the meta around.
I almost feel bad for the Kashtira players, first Konami makes it the most expensive deck in the game and it turns out to be really mid, with a lot of weaknesses that can easily be exploited in deck building (for the other decks) and now it is even less playable than before. The thing is, it is still freaking everywhere so Konami really wants these people to buy something else.
the same ppl that shit on "floodgates" don't realize that yugioh for years has been creating situations in which your opponent cant play. floodgates in the forms of slow trap cards scare people but searchable, consistent, combo lines that can create big negate boards with monsters is okay! :))))

Had a dude lock down 90% of my field in 1 turn and then he surrendered the second i using his card to summon my kaiju to his side of the field freeing my field. Made me sit there for like 10 minutes just to surrender the second he didnt get to completely lock me out of playing fuck that deck.

My friend and I predict that the reason for Synchro Zone being limited is to potentially promote another N/R format event. I can't foresee this card being played in any competitive strategies, and I can see some synchro piles try this card as a permanent Swords of Revealing Light that also gives you a synchro on your opponent's turn, and a recovery tool.
Synchro Zone was used in Stun, take off the tinfoil hat lol. Also they just have to ban cards for the event itself, no need to make it part of the global banlist.
Hitting Wyverbuster was a mistake and what should have happened is Bystial engine getting another hit/change by Saronir going to 1 (because let's face it they would not hit UR Lubellion if there is another option). I think Bystials are ok as Handtraps but are problematic as an engine and if Sanorir goes to 1 then Druiswurm could probably go to 3. A change like this would have addressed both DLink and Branded but instead DLink got severely nerfed and Branded's power level is once again off charts.

I’m still convinced someone with alot of sway at Konami HQ lives and dies by One Bad Day and various other Stun decks and fights tooth and nail to keep floodgates off the ban list. Its the only explanation for why these damn cards are still legal.
@@luminous3558 Not at all. The deck is insanely strong. The vast majority of the deck is unlimited. And it's easily the best deck in the meta after this banlist. The only reason it did not get hit is because the pack is still in the shop.

They did this because dragon link won the last duelist cup and stun always is fantastic in the duelist cups. Why play combo when your opponent who isn’t playing stun will scoop turn 1 when they don’t draw the out to your floodgate.

Okay, Josh saying wyverburster was a good hit has simply solidified my opinion that he simply wants any non-runick deck that is good to become unplayable.
Soooo many Synchro Decks got murdered by the Chaos Ruler Ban. Punk Bystial’s endboard is now surpassed by median SS-Tenyi, so no reason to build the Deck. Chaos-Thunder Dragon is only playable as the version that uses the non-Colossus Fusion, which is tough, because it eats up another ED slot and two more main deck slots. Pure Chaos is absolutely dead. RDA/Resonators is also dead. Pretty much every Synchro Deck except Swordsoul and Blackwings has been reduced to either Gold-only or completely unplayable. Edit: I loathe the fact we’re heading into another Branded Meta. If they were going to go this far, Ban Super Poly to reign Branded in.
The Synchro Bystial might be the biggest joke in this BL only because Chaos Ruler is banned, my 3 Ringowurm,3 Ready Fusion,3 Cyverse Gadget will become useless in other decks,all of them are ur cards.🤣😭😭

Every time I face Dragon Link (they’re rampant even in Platinum), clicking the “surrender” button is almost a reflexive reaction given I’ve no patience to see what kind of convoluted board and unpredictable tech they’re about to use. Good riddance.
I hate the ideas of simply killing decks. You go through the effort to make the decks, make the cards, just to completely make them unplayable. Seems pointless. Removing circular would kill most cyberse decks, killing off baby dragon has pretty much killed off dragonlink. Could've made other hits/limits.
Just limit both babies and chaos space like in the tcg. Allows the deck to still exist and be strong but dramatically lowers the combo potential. Banning wyvernburster all but kills it.
OCG logic does not apply to Maxx C. They semi-limit or limit cards purely based on playrate in Japan (Ash Blossom semi is an example) but they will not touch Maxx C. Perhaps they are at least aware that it's a card that should never be at anything other than 0 or 3, and they just refuse to ban such an integral part of their game.
Honestly that all of them dragon rulers are ultra rare is just a huge bummer. The deck is not good anyways, so I wouldn't play it except for short experiements
"Game retention" has been pretty stable for the last 6 months at least. Highest peak in the beginning of the month at just under 40k and just over 20k at the end of a month. (At least when looking at steam numbers, but that's arguably the most important platform anyway)

Limiting duality and banning card of demise is disastrous for stun, but there are plenty of less-used floodgates available that would still cripple most decks going first. Desires should be at 3. If some maniac wants to use 3 desires, they're more than welcome. Sure, more copies means you will open with it more consistently, but there's also a good chance 2 of them are going to end up being dead cards.

They're gonna use at most 2 more runick cards to get draws off fountain so it's 6 cards max they banish especially with fountain at 1 and even when fountain was at 2 you'd have to have a very specific hand to use fountain twice on turn 1 if it hits your core peices or 1 ofs sure definitely annoying but there is a big difference between 6 and half a deck 😂. Remember runick is banish face up depending on what deck you play you can technically benefit from it kashtira for example banishes face down now that is busted

Yeah Konami beginning to realize how making everything a UR to encourage people to spend for gems would bite them in the butt when said URs are ruining the game and they have no choice but to hit the URs. They wanted to have their cake and eat it too, but now they're being forced to have to settle for needing to listen to player demand for the longevity of the game. This is a really good list!
Same problem is happening in dl, for both speed and rush.
Konami gave us idp, which has become a game changer for the format, but it is already a limit 3 card, and since its a box ur, they cant hit to 2, 1 or ban it, they now will have to hit 1 or 2 cards from every strong deck to keep idp at bay, because they cant hit idp itself.
And for rush, they released dragias as an box ur, also limited to 3, this card by itself is a ridiculously annouing boss that upon hit the board becomes priority n1 for the opponent to remove, since it can easilly deal a lot of damage.
They could have put it as an sr, or made it f2p, but they didnt think through, or they were just too greedy, and now they cant hit dragias as well, and since its a generic card, it can easilly be dplashed into any deck and become an horribly strong boss.

That's really unfortunate for DL. At least with MD Konami is realizing that there is a problem with their current philosophy and is taking the steps to adjust it. Did you know that the only reason why Tcboo was semi-limited for the longest time when Gozen and Rivalry went to 1 was solely because Tcboo was a UR? There wasn't any good justification to keep Tcboo at a lighter restriction when it's just as bad as the other 2 SR cards, so it's good that they put that mindset away when Stun was being a massive pain
That assumes everyone has the same opinion about the direction of the game
The few times they didn't make good card URs are things like Kitkalos an SR, or the 2 smol purrely or even delicious being R. Those kind of things really give me the sign that they are ready to ban it if it ever become a problem and still give us nothing. Those rarely happens but it happened, and I want that to happen more.
Because there was no set rotation in YGO, this is inevitable problem tbh.
design choice wise, I think that any card that gives +2 or more card advantage (draw/mill/discard or something) should be UR rarity 😮

I feel you when it comes to desires. The only deck I really used it in was sword soul. Even in that deck I only felt good about using it when cheng ying was on the feild to get the extra attack and banishes.

Man desires makes me so nervous. Those little 2 seconds when you're banishing cards and you don't know if you're gonna get ashed or not. And then if you draw 2 it is very scary to go and see what you have banished. Sincerely, even in swordsoul it feels so weird.

Hopefully this is a harsh lesson for Konami to realize that making EVERY GODDAMN CARD UR LIKE SAKITAMA is a horrible idea and will hurt them in the long run and us in the short run. It's not good for any body.

I f hate this. Chaos Ruler and waveryn ban is disgusting. Kash hits is nasty. Kash is almost unplayable at this point. They took Diablo out from beginning and now kash is limited to one bord if broken it is almost gg 90% of the recovery gone.
Chaos Ruler hit hearts alot to PUNK and Tearelemts. I have a wonderful Tear, PUNK, Bustiyal, Kash with a Superpoly target and link. With Dark Ruler gone this lost 50% of it is power.

I'm pretty sure the change in Chaos Ruler was in part due to Dis Pater coming out. I played against a deck that was using Bystials and lv 2 tuners to make Dis Pater to loop him and make a big annoying board. I don't know if it was super strong and consistent or if they just had a great hand vs my bad hand, but in the game I played it felt like Chaos Ruler was worth banning.

Nah look at the ban list. People hate shit like Shock Master, VFD, Scythe, etc. and D Barrier has been one of the most hated side deck cards since Branded SwordSoul format. Most players generally want to play the game and agree that floodgates suck. Unless you’re arguing that a negate board is functionally a floodgate, which is a massive leap in logic since negation is finite whereas floodgates demand backrow removal else they’re infinite negation of a specific game mechanic. Unless of course it’s a lingering floodgate like D Barrier or VFD, which makes removal worthless and negation doesn’t exist for backrow outside of boss monsters that you won’t have set up by the time a D Barrier is flipped or Red Reboot.
@dariuspenner2528 negate boards function as floodgates when you don't get to play a single card in your hand without it being negated. They also require you to just "draw the out" or hope whatever handtrap you had before they started playing was good enough.
@ slaygoblins incorrect. Negates run out. Once a Baronne spent it’s negate it’s done. Same goes for Apollousa, Savage, etc. Negate boards also have way more that hard counters them. DRNM, Tactics/Thrust, Kaijus/Golem/Sphere Mode, Evenly, and every other form of mass removal hose negate boards and force negates prematurely. Floodgates specifically require backrow removal, of which all that’s commonly played is Duster. Can’t go into Phoenix under most of them and they function as infinite negates against specific mechanics until removed. You can at least play into a Baronne and bait negates to play. You can’t even attempt to play into garbage like TCBOO, Summon Limit, Antispell, etc. unless you drew into Duster or play other backrow hate. There’s an excessive amount of combo hate from board breakers to hand traps that not drawing into anything is unlikely. Not drawing into duster at 1 against stun however is very likely

Konami made a bunch of changes that any player could have (and did) tell them to make two years ago, and then took a shotgun to a bunch of pot cards and tier 2 strategies.
Objectively, it's one of the best lists we've ever had for the game, but it also INFURIATES me, because I don't think Konami deserves praise for making a lot of decent changes after 2 years of them just being allowed to be problems, and then continuing to kinda ignore a lot of the more recent problems.
I don't want to play a game that feels like it's working on a several month delay on solving issues that the playerbase can VERY easily identify,
I love YuGiOh, it will usually be at least some part of my life, and MD being accessible makes it kibd of given that I would play it pretty consistently.
But the fact that I don't WANT to play every day is kind of telling, I am literally the easiest target for Konami to entice to play, and the fact that they have ANY issue at all getting me to want to play every day means that it is failing on some level. I am that big of a fan, I am the lowest hanging fruit and they sometimes struggle to keep me invested, that does not bode well for retention of players who aren't already heavily invested in Yu-Gi-Oh as a IP.
A cute deck idea is Dragon Ruler Kashtira. You can keep attaching banished Rulers to Arise-Heart, use the extra level 7 bodies for a second Shingra-La, and keep detaching Rulers to add 1-3 cards to hand per turn for more bodies. The Kash bodies are the main elemental attributes, so that helps synergize further with the Dragon Rulers, and with them all being level 7, you can use Birth to normal summon Dragon Rulers without tribute if they're stuck in hand, too.
Birth limited to 1 people are not gonna waste resources on rulers if they are smart that is. It’s nothing more than trying to get people to spend on that pack simple as that

At this point I’m questioning whether or not it’s even worth it to run the small Kashtira package in VS. Fenrir being able to grab either an earth or fire while providing an extra interruption going first was huge. Now I’d be stuck running something stupid like Scarekash if I wanted another earth off Fenrir, but both the Riseheart and Scarekash do pretty much nothing in the deck aside from sitting in hand. Might be worth throwing in Pank to hedge against going second as a frankly way better board breaker than Fenrir but the thing is useless going first. Same goes for Kaijus to make up for attribute deficits and even then those aren’t that good rn either. If you cut the Kashtira package you lose 4 cards plus the 1 TCBOO so that’s 5 slots to try and fill. Not an insignificant hit unfortunately
some decks already played 3 unicorn, a kasththiosis (however you spell it), and a birth for the full ariseheart line, but the deck is prolly a little less consistent with more bricks, but prolly still good to play if ur a VS enjoyer, ive seen a based list from the dc cup that played nadir servants to search out ecclesia and the trap so you can try that too

Except that d-link prefer to play mostly light and dark dragon (aside from that dragunity link). Dragon rulers don't really have that much synergy in them.
As a deck, they are just rank 7 engine or aurarodon turbo. As individual card, each of them better of being played in different decks like how redox fit well in earth pile deck, same as tidal in water pile.
They still need to ban Destruct Potion to get rid of the Numeron Dragon OTK.
Destruction to 1 is the second most questionable decision on this list, someone just HATES getting their engine pieces milled by the thing I guess. Birth going to 1 literally only hits "pure" Kashtira, I've NEVER seen or used an engine build with more than one of it, but I still find it funny so it gets a pass.
Tidal has been great for me in Marincess. Foolishing the barrier statue to revive with Anemone is better than praying you hit it with Springirl.

I’ve been playing D Link without Chaos Ruler for months now, still lines, but was a impactful hit. If you respect other decks with H/Ts Seals pass is still decent
I'm a chaos ruler enjoyer, but acknowledged it should probably be banned (my unholy 60 card punk thunder dragon-link tearlaments pile will have to go to sleep). Completely banning wyverburster though rather than say down to 1, kinda feels like taking D-link out back and shooting it (honestly I'd rather have seen chaos space go if they had to kill the consistency a bit). Maybe the red-eyes variants live on but boot sector and ravine search are now super exposed for the most part and probably will almost always require using the normal summon to attempt.
Having chaos ruler turns boards that would be Seals + Savage into full everything combo.
I love the card but I think we can acknowledge it is insane at this point. Hitting Wyverburster hurts more.

There’s a lot of good cards still around. No one really touches dragunity and no one plays chamber dragon maid anymore. There will always be good dragon synergies, the question is if we are patient enough for the OCG to make a new standard.

POD imo should be at 3. It makes semi-limiting and limiting cards much more of a lost and having it at 1 opens a lot more engine pieces in Decks.
They banned Terraforming and Demise, and all of the Pots to 1. I think Konami wants to see where decks stand on their own merit without the assistance of outside generic sources. I wouldn't be surprised if they banned ROTA soon, not necessarily because it's busting any particular deck but because it's making Warriors more consistent.
I think Master Duel wants to only hurt consistency as opposed to outright killing any strategy.
@@kenja0685 Problem is that hurting consistency punishes weaker decks more than it does stronger decks. For example if you ban ROTA, something like say Heroic Challenger would be much more affected than Infernoble, even though they lose the same card. The more recent a deck is, the more inherent consistency it has, and so the less it relies on external consistency, which means banning external consistency doesn't affect it as much.
It would be much better to look at the consistency tools of certain decks themselves, instead of the generic options.

1. It is not true that a more recent deck is more consistent, look at VS or kash and compare them to swoswo or zoo.
2. Weaker decks and stronger decks is not a constant thing in the meta, if a 'strong' deck gets hit then a 'weak' deck can take it's place in the meta. If this 'weaker' deck is abusing the same generic cards as the 'stronger' then fundamentally the meta hasn't changed. I would much rather play against a branded deck playing only in-archetype cards over generic pile of cards ft. prospy, terraforming, rota, chaos ruler and so on.
3. Most importantly, DECKS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO HAVE WEAKNESSES AND YES, BRICKING MORE OFTEN THAN OTHER DECKS IS A WEAKNESS. If you don't want to brick you can either: play more in-archetype cards, even if those are not as strong as your best starters. Or just play a different deck that doesn't brick as often even if it's a weaker deck.
@@kenja0685 Hurting Consistency of a Deck is good but POD at 3 solves that issue. Banishing 10 cards that could be garnets or potential starters with those cards being at 1 or 2 hurts Decks a lot more than having POD at 1 or even 2. For instance if POD is run with Kashtira, even though you draw 2, your copies of Fenrir and Unicorn might get banished.
Honestly a very good ban list. I would have outright banned the floodgates and pots, but it's close enough. The one thing I really do question here is the Wyverburster hit, as I feel like there are better ways to nerf Dragon Link. Wyverburster is used in other decks, like say Red-Eyes, which are now punished unnecessarily. Still a good ban list though for sure.
idk, if you were to hit dragonlink wyverburster is prettty good. it essentially makes seyfert bad to run and obviously makes collapserpant bad to run as well.
The "irrelevant deck is getting hit too" is a terrible argument for not hitting something. Dlink has been played for ages in various forms, and is a very flexible deck that's very difficult to hit effectively. Wyverburster ban is one of the few hits that's actually meaningful.

Considering the fact that Chaos Ruler also got banned this patch, a Levianeer ban makes much more sense than a Wyverburster ban, both for DLink and for other decks.
Wyverburster ban is a massive hit. Seyfert and chaos space is the best engine in the deck by far and banning Wyverburster completely invalidates Seyfert and turns chaos space from a flexible combo starter into a bystial card.

1 - Levianeer is not used more than Wyverburster, thats absurd. If you're looking at the deck breakdown on MDM, 88% is only for people that use wyverburster at 2 copies. Coupled with people who play it at 1 and 3, wyverbuster is on 99% of DLink decks, and a lot of the remaining 1% is probably decks that got mislabled.
2 - Wyverbuster makes chaos space and seyfert into combo starters, plus it's the best extender if you already have other starters like black metal dragon. It is the cornerstone of the deck. Levianeer is a useful tool for boardbreaking that ocasionally gets used for extending and hand ripping if you open cracked. Doesnt even come up most games. Completely different roles.
3 - We are not throwing darts to decide on what the hit should be. If the goal is to take the deck out of the meta, the hit should be meaningful, and wyverburster is one of the most effective solutions. No one cares about "Red-eyes", I dont even know what that deck would look like and I've played MD since launch. If its playing wyverburster and the black metal package, it's probably just a worse DLink.

I will admit my current deck in master duel is based off of your runnick/bystail deck (with a few minor changes of course) that you won ycs with, honestly runnick destruction, is basically a reverse painful choice in a way, a 1 for 5 hit is pretty insane/advantageous, and even runnick smiting storm to an extent could be like that, if not more, granted you are running the risk of allowing your opponent to create an unbreakable board to be able to hit 5-ish cards. (Also that isn't even a guarantee as they could have a negate available to nuke the smiting storm.)
Also I am in agreement with you about pot cards, even the one that allows you to choose which ones you toss away, they are good, but the drawbacks are always a bit risky imho. - I honestly kind of feel the same way about cards like tripe tactics talent/thrust, lightning storm etc, they are good/great if your are in a position you can use them, but often they are "dead" or useless cards that are simply just sitting in your hand.
Though again that is just my opinion on them, they are good when they are good, bad when they are bad. xD
Banning chaos ruler and white dragon hurts a lot for chaos / light n dark decks. I mainly enjoy those but dragon link was the main reason those two cards got hit.
The changes in the banlist are pretty fair and will shift the meta around.

I almost feel bad for the Kashtira players, first Konami makes it the most expensive deck in the game and it turns out to be really mid, with a lot of weaknesses that can easily be exploited in deck building (for the other decks) and now it is even less playable than before. The thing is, it is still freaking everywhere so Konami really wants these people to buy something else.

Had a dude lock down 90% of my field in 1 turn and then he surrendered the second i using his card to summon my kaiju to his side of the field freeing my field. Made me sit there for like 10 minutes just to surrender the second he didnt get to completely lock me out of playing fuck that deck.
@@Raining_H The main issue is not the monsters but the spell that summons should be limited to one and the L4 should be limited to one. Then make Brith from 3 to 2. That is how you hit Kashtiera. Then it wouldn't be toxic. Having alot of UR in it is own is a hit. With one summoning spell it wouldn't be toxic.
If this is done i do not like but i do not mind or hate to hit Fenri too.

My friend and I predict that the reason for Synchro Zone being limited is to potentially promote another N/R format event. I can't foresee this card being played in any competitive strategies, and I can see some synchro piles try this card as a permanent Swords of Revealing Light that also gives you a synchro on your opponent's turn, and a recovery tool.

Synchro Zone was used in Stun, take off the tinfoil hat lol. Also they just have to ban cards for the event itself, no need to make it part of the global banlist.
Hitting Wyverbuster was a mistake and what should have happened is Bystial engine getting another hit/change by Saronir going to 1 (because let's face it they would not hit UR Lubellion if there is another option).
I think Bystials are ok as Handtraps but are problematic as an engine and if Sanorir goes to 1 then Druiswurm could probably go to 3. A change like this would have addressed both DLink and Branded but instead DLink got severely nerfed and Branded's power level is once again off charts.

I’m still convinced someone with alot of sway at Konami HQ lives and dies by One Bad Day and various other Stun decks and fights tooth and nail to keep floodgates off the ban list. Its the only explanation for why these damn cards are still legal.

@@luminous3558 Not at all. The deck is insanely strong. The vast majority of the deck is unlimited. And it's easily the best deck in the meta after this banlist. The only reason it did not get hit is because the pack is still in the shop.

They did this because dragon link won the last duelist cup and stun always is fantastic in the duelist cups.
Why play combo when your opponent who isn’t playing stun will scoop turn 1 when they don’t draw the out to your floodgate.
SHS is also coming. No need to play Samurai Robots when Dragons can just do the same job without playing pendulum cards

They are connected with ecclesia that could either summon alba going second to possibly make a mirror jade and sword soul combo pieces

I craft 1 wyverburster for my chaos deck and got royal, only for it to get banned
Soooo many Synchro Decks got murdered by the Chaos Ruler Ban.
Punk Bystial’s endboard is now surpassed by median SS-Tenyi, so no reason to build the Deck.
Chaos-Thunder Dragon is only playable as the version that uses the non-Colossus Fusion, which is tough, because it eats up another ED slot and two more main deck slots.
Pure Chaos is absolutely dead.
RDA/Resonators is also dead.
Pretty much every Synchro Deck except Swordsoul and Blackwings has been reduced to either Gold-only or completely unplayable.
Edit: I loathe the fact we’re heading into another Branded Meta. If they were going to go this far, Ban Super Poly to reign Branded in.

I hate the ideas of simply killing decks. You go through the effort to make the decks, make the cards, just to completely make them unplayable. Seems pointless.
Removing circular would kill most cyberse decks, killing off baby dragon has pretty much killed off dragonlink. Could've made other hits/limits.
Just limit both babies and chaos space like in the tcg. Allows the deck to still exist and be strong but dramatically lowers the combo potential. Banning wyvernburster all but kills it.

OCG logic does not apply to Maxx C. They semi-limit or limit cards purely based on playrate in Japan (Ash Blossom semi is an example) but they will not touch Maxx C.
Perhaps they are at least aware that it's a card that should never be at anything other than 0 or 3, and they just refuse to ban such an integral part of their game.
Honestly that all of them dragon rulers are ultra rare is just a huge bummer. The deck is not good anyways, so I wouldn't play it except for short experiements

I bet they are seeing that the games retention is going down and so they finally started to hit problem cards in hope to get players to come back.
"Game retention" has been pretty stable for the last 6 months at least.
Highest peak in the beginning of the month at just under 40k and just over 20k at the end of a month.
(At least when looking at steam numbers, but that's arguably the most important platform anyway)

Since when was mst searchable, banished the top 4 cards from your opponent’s deck, and potentially could be activated from hand on your opponents turn as well as triggering a potential +3?
I mean, Branded already has Branded Fusion at 1, Aluber at 2, and Branded Opening at 2. It's not like the deck hasn't been hit.
And they also got endless support so it ended up doing nothing. I don't know how they plan to butcher branded but can't wait for it to happen. Been way overdue.

Limiting duality and banning card of demise is disastrous for stun, but there are plenty of less-used floodgates available that would still cripple most decks going first. Desires should be at 3. If some maniac wants to use 3 desires, they're more than welcome. Sure, more copies means you will open with it more consistently, but there's also a good chance 2 of them are going to end up being dead cards.
Desires also makes stun better too which is probably the main reason they hit it
Desires at 3 is literally optimal in any deck that plays it.

You gotta hit decks that top , not decks that are tier 5 or 6. regular stun isn’t even close to the top 100 . it’s completely fair and balanced . Play droplet imperm lightning storm and the deck crumbles . I don’t see an issue here to be honest. The only deck that deserved it was runick but no they went after the pots.

I f hate this. Chaos Ruler and waveryn ban is disgusting. Kash hits is nasty. Kash is almost unplayable at this point. They took Diablo out from beginning and now kash is limited to one bord if broken it is almost gg 90% of the recovery gone.
Chaos Ruler hit hearts alot to PUNK and Tearelemts. I have a wonderful Tear, PUNK, Bustiyal, Kash with a Superpoly target and link. With Dark Ruler gone this lost 50% of it is power.
The main issue with Kash is not the monsters but most important is the spell that summons should be limited to one. Then L4 should be limited to one. Then make Brith from 3 to 2. That is how you hit Kashtiera. Then it wouldn't be toxic. Having alot of UR in it is own is a hit. With one summoning spell it wouldn't be toxic.
If this is done i do not like but i do not mind or hate to hit Fenri too.
Birth at 2, summoning spell at 1, L4 monster at 1 ,and maby Fenri at 1.
Then Kash is fear.
But not only fear but it makes the deck cheaper.
The pots did nothing wrong imo. But i dont play master duel or duel links anyway so I dont care. Just playing custom banlst edopro
