I can attest that you can do the work the course teaches to control your shot! I signed up about a month ago, and recently won the Bowhunter class of my local 3D tournament with a 313 (31 target IBO) round…and it was only my 2nd ever competition! I’m not perfect by any means, but know that if I put in controlled shooting work, I’ll get better!!

Second the above. Minus the tournament, even helped me discover some physical issues (draw length).
My grouping has severely improved and for once feel confident in each shot

Thank you man, your method helped a lot in my Barebow training now i am all about closed loop full control over my shots every shot is a challenge and my brain not like to be in control, my brain always want to shift it to auto release(open loop) but i force it to control now, and when i feel my brain is not comfortable then i know my shot is in the center. i come to a state where i enjoy aiming more than shooting the arrow, i see the arrow tip on target and i wait for my soul to settle down then i gain the control over my mind and shoot it in center.

Took Joel's class about a month ago. He was a one of a kind instructor, no one like him with the knowledge he possesses. I learned so much and plan to go back for another lesson soon. Joel and his son, Bodie, are very special people indeed. GO BODIE!!

That that slow motion “yip” at 2:13 still haunts me… glad it’s immortalized on the internet for the rest of my life 😂

Hey I listened to you on Joe Rogan on how archery translates mostly into everything else in life. I am a musical artist by heart and find it difficult to teach my kids because I do not under any circumstances want to try to imprint something onto them that they blindly follow until they realize what they really want in _their_ lifes.
But I'd still like to get them into playing instruments though... any ideas for any type of guidance in that direction?^^
cheers and, good draw - I guess. Good pull?^^ trueshot, something like that ol 🤙

I would group tight to the left or right but My panic was so bad just a few weeks ago that when I duct taped a spot I shot around it in a perfect rectangle at 40yds. Increasing my arrow weight to about 450gr and decreasing my let-off to 80% from 85 (Hoyt ventum pro @ 65#) has reduced the release shock and made shooting so much smoother my panic is gone…mostly. And my draw is smoother with less valley but a very nice wall still.

Would you consider that relearning shot control is or could be hypnosis in some way? It’s a mindset thing IMO, more than the physical part of the process.

Joel. I"m looking forward to watching all your videos. I got into traditional archery about 23 years ago, shooting and building a few take down recurves, and have progressively got worse with target panic. I've read books, watched videos and even got feedback from Byron Ferguson but still blow every shot. I quit shooting for the last 6 years or so because of it. I'm now back but nervous to even draw a recurve bow back. Please share any advice you feel to share to help me get over this. I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Shane

Just watched you on Rogan and your kid at Lancaster. Impressive. I have to ask "did you name Bodie after Patrick Swayze's character in Point Break?" It would be fitting cuz the kid is zen.
