It reminds me of the Tatum draft pick oddly. Like in that draft, Fultz was the obvious pick for #1 and Tatum was in the mix with a few other prospects for the second spot (woulda been 2nd but the Lakers let Lavar control who they drafted 😂) and the Celtics with the #1 pick decided to trade back and take Tatum, some were very confused by this considering how good Fultz had looked. Now Ime was the sure thing. He changed the dynamic of this team entirely, but then something happened where they felt they had to move on. Boston had multiple great assistants (some had already left for other head coaching jobs) and yet they chose some dude who was in the second row last season? Both of these choices confused many, then made many realize why the franchise was so confident in these choices.

Joe is such a smart, innovative and REAL coach. Hes arguably the most interesting and human of all the coaches. superheroes, military, christianity, MMA, competitiveness, crazy practices, data analytics, counterintuitive ideas, football, pop culture references, the town, etc
Creating and communicating character through different mediums and experiences. Holistic approach to teaching and guiding. Aspiring coaches should look to him as an inspiration.
Love Joe as a coach. Decisive, analytically-driven, and open-minded. It shines through in his coaching but also in this (very interesting) conversation. Possibly my favorite coach with/after Spo.
I'm not going to lie, as a Celtics fan, last season I was so frustrated by Joe's coaching (especially the lack of timeouts) in the beginning but had to give him the benefit of the doubt due to him being thrown into the deep after the Ime situation. This season I can't point out anything he did wrong and you can see how good of a coach he is after putting together his own staff & having a proper training camp with the players.. I'm impressed of how he made all the players buy in & finally win a championship.
I'm still amazed with what he was able to do at the last minute essentially. He learned a lot and it paid off huge. I was just as unsure as other Celtics fans but what really turned me around was that interview he did with JJ Redick right before the Jrue trade. He just felt so raw and relatable, and hearing his story of how he came up as a coach was pretty awesome to hear. He just kept his head down and did his job but held himself to a high standard, and he was rewarded with the opportunity of a lifetime.
Agreed. I wanted him gone after last season… the start of this year - I figured ok we’ll see how it goes. Wasn’t a fan of the 3-point barrage mindset. But I was wrong. He’s good. A good maybe great coach.
Agreed. Hes the most "modern" coach. Pop culture references, unorthodox practices, analytics driven gameplans, proudly wears being a christian AND MMA guy on his sleeve. Plus reveals that he coached half the season with a torn meniscus.
Everyone in the league said the Celtics don't have the "'dog" in them. Mazzulla is the dog. this year proved that and his growth and the teams compared to last year can't go unrecognized.
I am a massive wvu and a massive Boston fan. I don’t even have words for how amazing it is to see Joe lead these Celtics. I always took pride in him being on the staff, and was well familiar w his young yet successful coaching career. I’m just so happy he’s the guy leading our Celtics. Mountaineer and Celtic nation loves you Joe!
@@ThadCastIe 100%. He got some unfair criticism last year but by the way he’s handled himself this year you would’ve never known that. We are definitely very lucky to have coach Mazzulla

If people are not honest with each other, that's where misunderstandings can occur. One lie leads to another until it's out of control. Joe seems like a good guy and it's good to see good people achieve success.

The concept is really cool and Joe's actually a really interesting guest. Zach's done this for several years now, but I think Joe is by far the most interesting
I am by no means a Celtics fan! But I have a lot of respect for their coach and what he stands for. It’s refreshing to see someone with such integrity getting the shine he so rightly deserves in this day and age. Great interview Mr. Lowe!
Joe is a very interesting guy, I'm glad Brad Stevens had the foresight to promote him to head coach and then the patience after losing to Miami to give him more time, and it paid off big time.
Yeah listening to this guy talk... It's wraps for the league. Best bet for the rest of the NBA is to mess with his Netflix recommendations. Everyone else is cooked.

Out of all the content I’ve seen from the championship that was what made me tear up. So happy for Joe congrats coach Jeff as well wish you would have stayed. I hope you get the ring you deserve.
I had my doubts about Joe, especially after the way last season ended... but he did it, and I can't help but be a believer now. This was a great interview, really got into the details of how he thinks, and why he coaches the way he does. Provided they stay healthy, he can lead the Celtics for many years to come and has the potential to win a few more Championships along the way.
