What a guy you are Peter! You were a champion and will be remembered as a living legend and a true gentleman. As for your lovely fiesty wife, both of you were fantastic catches for each other. Whilst a few decades in front of you the question you ask yourself about those around you that never made i? I might have been one of those in my era. Played football and golf at high level, became a registered nurse and taught anatomy and physiology at university, coached some fantastic athletes and married a woman with that fantastic fiesty attitude also a registered nurse. Be at ease with the lives of the many that didnt make it. Most of us got our own kicks in life scoring different goals. Sport has always been a great grounding for life!

Crouchy is a winner because he surrounded himself with people who were positive and reminded him of the opportunity he has...and he took it and didn't waste it. He now also has a partner who backs him in what he does now which is brilliant as the 2 of you are the ying and yang that makes a couple podcast work. You both look so happy and easy together but most importantly you can both take the stick that each of you give one another knowing where to go to and where to not push it. Fully tuned into where you both are is a very special place to be. You have a partner that supports you and so does he...that is the glue which makes everything work and when its not going so good you both have that special person to lean on...And as for crouchy answering his doubters... he has the fabulous Abbey as a partner, a mother to his children and a very happy partnership which is the envy of many. Peter has an immensely strong character with a good work ethic and what stands out is his ability to prove the detractors wrong. What worked for him was having a supportive family and real friends who had his back to make the big time and to stay at the peak, for so many top level games. Having a dynamic, supportive, domestic partner is the unspoken secret weapon. Few couples have the mutual respect in both their personal and professional lives and that is apparent in their podcasts. Rarely do all the stars align to create and maintain success, yet they did.
I loved every minute of this pod Peter crouch is such a giving kind truthful human I find him inspirational And I loved loved abbey asking the questions and their spark this is true love and it is beautiful to see
I got quite upset listening to Pete's experiences. It was a sombre awakening for such a young lad. He deserved better, anyone behaving like that should have been kicked out and passes revoked. His experiences, and ability to keep moving forward are a testament to the quality Lad that he is, so inspiring. Similar to Abbey, I would have gotten angry. This video is a great reminder to keep my eye focused on my objective regardless of what is happening around me. Something that touches me even more is how Abbey is always saying how much she fancies Pete, and his confidence and humour seem to be able to accept that he is a babe, despite the cruelty that happened in his earlier years.

Loved this interview. Abbey you have to remember the huge role you've played in Peters success too. I'm sure your love and support has helped more than you both realise. I can totally relate to a lot of what Peter says, being very tall and thin myself I've had to put up with the same horrible verbal at times.
This interview is incredible!! The one thing that really stood out was when Abbey asked if Pete was ever bullied. This is totally different but also the same…I am a gay man but I wouldn’t say that I have been bullied because as Peter says, “get in there first and do it better”!! No one can take the piss out of you better than yourself!! I understand it takes a certain type of character to do that but if you can, it’s the biggest slap in the “bullies” face!! Their joke is diminished before it even got going.

Massive villa fan here , I was gutted when it didn't work out for Pete at villa , I was a little kid about 10 years old at the time and I remember family and friends saying he's not even a division 1 player , now I look back at his career and think what a player. "Good feet for a big man" and all the usual sayings but at the end of the day from what he was at villa to what he become at Tottenham, Liverpool, stoke etc is all down to proper hard work and a bloody amazing mentality .
