Ahahaha! Green tip! That brought back memories from art class of how we had to label all of our equipment or we’d probably never see the tools again! Thanks for this - your style is wonderful and inspiring.
Your snow & trees are outstandingly fine & lovely. The serenity of this untouched snow is palpable. I struggle with snow, always overwork it, so this was excellent info. I'm a huge fan of the salt technique, but heard Zoltan Szabo in my head warning against more than 3 grains! LOL Beautiful Mr. Hobson. Thank you so much for sharing your craft with newbies like me! The background texture looks amazing using your technique. The composition is so simple, yet you achieved a lovely painting. Great idea including only the shadows of a tree, which conveys a larger feel to the composition. I'd love to see more of your watercolor demonstration's. You explain everything so well, because you're a great teacher, Mr. Hobson!
Just love your techniques and how you teach. I hope you will post more lessons online for students who can only view in this format. Thank you so much for your wonderful gift!
Enjoyed this video thoroughly. The background technique was superb, and the shadows added to the mystique of the snow scene. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I follow all your videos.
Great video, thanks. I tried the loose trees twice and will try this. Do you use these 4 mop brushes you show at the end of the video for most of your paintings or are they specifically for this? I want to know if they would be useful enough for me to purchase and also what size numbers are they? I can see a 16 and you said your 6 but what are the other two and are they all mops as one looked a bit different. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much. I am going to look again for them. I love the 2 videos I have watched and plan to watch more. I painted two tries of this loose trees and like them. I paint very tight and controlled and am trying to relax and loosen up which your videos are helping me with this goal. Thank you so very much.
Love this painting. I have a question, though - once the background dried, I could not get the salt off! It's caked on there and if I rub any harder I"m afraid the paper will tear. It looks sort of interesting with that texture left on, but I'm baffled as to what I"m doing wrong. Painted wet on wet, salted, then lightly sprayed. Thanks for your help!
In addition to what Ken said, I also try using a squeegee with a soft, rubber blade. I can gently rub the squeegee back and forth, which usually gets those stubborn bits of salt off. Any salt crystals that remain simply become part of the painting. Hope this helps!

Кеn ! How interesting with salt !
Love this! I don’t think this is beginner but I wanna try it.
You can do it! Try several times. Ken
This was challenging but very fun. Have to work on making the sky lighter. Mine was too dark and the trees didn’t show up much.
Ken Hobson yup!
PS: I have many squirrel/mop brushes, but they're so light and small, difficult to work with. Any suggestions? You're a master with yours!
very helpful!
is this the best brush
Beautiful! What brand of paint do you use? And is the paper hot or cold pressed?
