This has to be one of the best runs done on GDQ purely because of the group of people and the quality of the gameplay ! Seeing the guy that doesn’t fully know what’s going on getting really excited for the tricks was class to see
amazing run. I don’t think people realize how close this run was to wr on full game. that library crash sadly ended the library and the runthere. by considering how awesome it would have been to break it there as we is 1:04. But I can’t deny how awesome this run was and played really well.
Great run! Always love when they explain the evolution of the speedrun while they're doing it. And especially all the people/community members that contribute. The story about being in discord late at night after drinking and claiming, nah I swear this is better, then it actually is better, is such a classic story
great run! thanks to Nervy, Helpless. also terrific commentary by Chronos, really made the run. having that guy who didn't know shit was a fun counterpoint too, really great chemistry all around.
Bryonato and Chronos are the perfect couch, Chronos is always so chill and informative, and bryanato shows so much geniune interest in the run and asks all the right questions. Peak GDQ
yeah I think if they actually had no tech issues and no screwing around at the end of the maw. I think they might have gotten wr there which would have been amazing.
@@sman7963not everyone who watches GDQ has played every single game that appears on it. Even with Halo being as big as it is, not everyone has played it. Nothing wrong with asking questions for people who might not know.
Later in the run, they do a trick called carrier bump. This trick has a risk of crashing your game later on. And if you got to the door after carrier bump in a certain time frame, the game would soft lock. there was a patch created by a community member that looked in to the files and prevented the crash and potential soft lock. so that was what nervy was scared about happening.
11:35 Wait is this an MCC thing? Ive completed Halo 1 & 2 Co-op Legendary on original xbox (and am very proud of myself for having done so in my youth) but I thought if ur partner dies you revert to checkpoint, and only on lower difficulties can you have one person die and the other will respawn at the checkpoint when the remaining player arrives to it.
This is only the case in Halo 2 on Legendary difficulty. On subsequent game releases they made this into the iron skull modifier that you can select in the menu, including in Halo CE: Anniversary, which is the version they're playing.
The couch commentary here is awesome, but unfortunately it's also incredibly unfriendly to anyone who's never played the game before. Other live Halo runs generally have someone who at least loosely outlines what's happening with the story/objectives throughout each mission. Here, everything is incredibly specific/jargony to a point that someone who's never played CE before will have zero context for anything that's taking place. The best GDQ runs (imo) are the ones that showcase the speedrunning strats and execution while still allowing series newcomers to maintain some sense of what's going on (Bryonato's Titanfall 2 speedruns come to mind in that regard).
Tbf if you're watching a speedrun to get story/lore you're at the wrong place to do so. Marathon I suppose a couch member or even the runner could give an outline or summary. But during normal speedrun attempts you should have already beaten or watched a playthrough a few times already. Even then I mean it's a speedrun event not playthrough event so its not really expected. Regardless chronos was doing a good job so not sure what else you could expect.
yeah they would have and most likely even broke the full game. The full game record is 1:04.05 they had a 95 percent chance of breaking it if they didn’t crash in library.
AGDQ 2024 is live right now! Tune in to watch at www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick
Even with the technical issues it was still a great run. Shout out to the runners, the couch, and the tech crew. Always love to see Halo on GDQ.
Chronos is the best GDQ person ever. Biggest range of games, is super kind, and is really informative.
Fr
Got to meet him during this GDQ and I absolutely agree, great dude!!
Watching Helpless7's shenanigans while waiting was the highlight of this run for me!

Maybe the most entertaining GDQ run I've seen! Loving the co-op runs and the banter. Congrats on $1mil!
great run! thanks to Nervy, Helpless. also terrific commentary by Chronos, really made the run. having that guy who didn't know shit was a fun counterpoint too, really great chemistry all around.
Honestly, my favorite mashup of people of GDQ's I've seen so far. Good combo.
10 years ago, on 2014 Halo speedrun took off. I still remember Goatrope's GDQ speedrun like it was yesterday.
Marty, they're killing the marines!
GREAT SCOTT
I straight up thought they where going to do a speed run side by side race and I was like wow possible the best idea ever ...please do that one day
Loved the co op tricks in this run, good stuff
1 million raised let's gooooo 🎉🎉🎉
they must’ve been praying to RNGesus the way that library went. absolutely insane
Such a heartbreak from that crash. I was gutted when it happened
Such an amazing run to watch live, Just as fun the second time on youtube :)
Great run and fantastic commentary! Hadnt seen a co-op run of Halo and the glitches are fascinating
I love when Chronos is on the stream, loved his Halo Reach run, definitely a favourite in the halo community 🔥🔥
Congrats on raising $1,000,000!!!!!!
Bryonato and Chronos are the perfect couch, Chronos is always so chill and informative, and bryanato shows so much geniune interest in the run and asks all the right questions. Peak GDQ
Dang, loosing that potential Library WR to a game crash really sucks.
I thought the computer fully turned off not the game.
yeah I think if they actually had no tech issues and no screwing around at the end of the maw. I think they might have gotten wr there which would have been amazing.
Great run, runners, couch and donations reader. The best run in the whole marathon, THANK YOU!
Used to speedrun this game in 2005-2009. Crazy to see these updated MP Strats, very entertaining video!
nice runners and couch, thanks
Big thanks to runners for doing this cool rum of good old Halo
Wart wart wart
Great run! A shame on the tech issues, execution was on point the whole way. Very funny run too
Good to see the destroyer of nerves with helpless and chronos.
Love how speedrunners have broken this game's spine over their collective knees. Very wholesome pair, great explanations and run.
That was awesome!
I love how much I see brianato in (I know I didn't spell it right I'm sorry ) I've just seen him all over the place and I think that it's awesome
Too bad he was asking the most obvious questions about halo...

Halo CE co-op? Is that like a team-kill Max% run?
59:40 best part
17:30 they clapped harder for the game not crashing than anything else lol
Really impressed that they found all these exploits over the years. Nice job to the halo speedrun community
7:45 that felt nostalgic.
great job everyone!!
58:30 "The big Chinapski freeze" sounds a lot like a "Kansas City Shuffle" from Lucky Number Slevin.
1:09:57 without eric danielski, trackmania tas community would be nothing either. what a pillar of two communities! Nice run.
This was insane
"MCC moment" lmaooo
This game was broken beyond belief for years after launch and still has issues like that co-op crashing to this day...
Really makes you think why it's not Banshee Out Of Bounds, huh
Came to comments to find this.
Man imagine a world record at gdq, damn those technical issues
Legends
perfect rng on the library just to get bad irl rng is wiiiiiiiiiiild
Cursed Halo run next year?
great runn...XD :" U may kill them ! "
Maaaan i was feeling this run until he crashed… twice. You could see the huge disappointment at the second one.
can anybody provide more information about the community patch mentioned between ~39:56-40:36 ?

Still the most fun Halo game.
it was a good run but then funny memes happened
Fun stuff, beat this game so many ties on co-op legendary.
Lots of game crashes and PC issues this year, what gives?

You're probably thinking of Halo 2. Halo 1 you respawn at your partner if they're alive or revert to checkpoint if you're both dead.
It does that in Halo 2 co-op legendary; not Halo 1 co-op legendary (CE).
That's only a Halo 2 mechanic.
Only in Halo 2. In Halo CE you both have to die.
This is only the case in Halo 2 on Legendary difficulty. On subsequent game releases they made this into the iron skull modifier that you can select in the menu, including in Halo CE: Anniversary, which is the version they're playing.
People dont know what its like to get halo 1 after not having anythnig like halo as a child only a very limited demograpihic

lol i dont think we watched the same video. Chronos did a fantastic job explaining things

This game is 23 years old, literally anyone watching this knows the story/objectives…
i wonder if they woulda beat the record for that lvl
yeah they would have and most likely even broke the full game. The full game record is 1:04.05 they had a 95 percent chance of breaking it if they didn’t crash in library.
Bryonato always manages to find a way onto every couch
Over explaining a shield in a world record video?
Bring back couch coop
Running it for 2-3 years? You merely adopted the darkness. I was born in it, molded by it.
Running it is different from playing it casually. How long have you been running it?
