  • We completed a road trip, a drive starting from Mumbai to Udaipur, which took less than 12 hours, covering over 700 kilometers one way. We experienced great roads in all three states and now have some tips and lessons to share! We drove a Ford EcoSport 1.5 petrol AT and ride quality, comfort and road confidence were unparalleled. Watch complete video for in-depth information on driving in 3 major Indian states, i.e. Maharashtra, Gujrat and Rajasthan. Some helpful information is outlined below that is not included in the video.
    All Toll plaza between Mumbai to Udaipur [Names, toll fee, time taken to cover the distance]
    We reached here at 6:45 AM - Khaniwade Toll Plaza - INR. 70
    We reached here at 7:22 AM - IRB Charoti toll plaza - INR. 65 - 48.7 KMS
    We reached here at 8:11 AM - IRB Bhagwada toll plaza - INR. 70 - 64 KMS
    We reached here at 8:52 AM - IRB Boriach toll plaza - INR. 65 - 61 KMS
    We reached here at 10:03 AM - IRB Choryasi toll plaza - INR. 80 - 60 KMS
    We reached here at 10:41 AM - Mandva Toll Plaza - INR. 25 - 58 KMS
    We reached here at 11:08 AM - L&T Vadodra toll plaza - INR. 105 - 98 KM
    We reached here at 4:07 PM - Khandi Obri Toll Plaza - INR.150 - 225 KMS
    Please note: If you started from Mumbai early in the morning, you'll pass by 3 McDonalds on NH48 between Mumbai to Gujrat however, unfortunately none of them were open by the time we passed, i.e. before 10 AM. After 10 AM, drive through is open is what security at the McDonalds claimed.
    For breakfast tea, we stopped at Giriraj Kathiyavadi Restaurant in Mansarovar Plaza, Near IRB Toll Plaza, Amboli, Kamrej, NH 48, Surat. This restaurant too was yet to open, but the owner was so kind that he specially got tea prepared for us. It was one of the best tea we had on the entire road trip. Big thanks to him.
    Below is what we discovered driving Ford EcoSport Petrol Automatic for 1500 Kilometers round trip between Mumbai to Udaipur.
    Used cruise control for 95% of the highway journey.
    Fuel economy when cruising at 100KM/h was 13/Litre
    Fuel economy when cruising at between 110 - 120KM/h was 12.5KM/Litre
    If you overtake, press the accelerator pedal down or get stuck in a traffic jam - the fuel economy drops further. Therefore, the overall mileage we got was 11.9KM/h according to the trip meter.
    The average speed of the complete round trip was under 70 Kilometer (surprisingly!)
    The main key on why and how we reached Udaipur from Mumbai in less than 12 hours (11 hours and 30 minutes with breaks) covering 730 Kilometers is a combination of:
    1. Consistent speed
    2. No major traffic jam/trucks
    3. Short breaks. (we stopped 8 times for 2-3 mins break to stretch my legs and hands, 2 food breaks of around 15 mins each)
    The trip was wonderful, and the stay at Udaipur was ever better. Do check the hotel Trident Udaipur tour video where we stayed for 5 days here: bit.ly/Trident...

    One mandatory break everyone should take is an eye adjustment break when light deteriorates during evening time.

    Only one suggestion
    if you again make video's like this then just show some graphic information to your viewer's that this part of video is between this and this city like vadodara to bharuch and vice versa so everyone feel the driving experience at home and plan accordingly.
    And overall i like your video..keep making new videos.....

      From Mumbai, straight until Vadodara and then the Halol-Kalol bypass road from Vadodara junction under flyover. Yes, avoid going to Ahmedabad. Google maps will also recommend same.

    there is no toll of driving for 12 hrs, if one is passionate about driving and loves driving car, even 12 hrs seems less... i am depicting myself... i have also done Navi Mumbai - Udaipur 8AM - 8PM and there was single % of tiredness....

      Hi that's really great. How many stops did you take

  • @rishab2468
    @rishab2468 3 роки тому +1

    1. Whenever you go on long drive and stop in between for 10 to 20 mts, always keep open the Bonnet of the car, so that engine gets cooled to some extent.
    2. Driving around commercial trucks can be dangerous, so always take extra precautions. The risk of an accident increases with these vehicles because they have larger blind spots, cannot maneuver as easily, and take longer to stop compared to passenger vehicles.
    A Truck being a heavy vehicle will never move his steering wheel right or left, if he finds that you are coming just in front of him.
    So never OVERTAKE a car or a truck if you see a them coming from opposite side.
    Try to overtake only if road ahead is very clear.

    • @SharmasTravelogues
      @SharmasTravelogues  3 роки тому

      Agreed, point number 1 will definitely be tried on next trip :)

    Could you please help me with some information on by road travel restrictions/ guidelines like reports required to travel from Maharashtra to Gujarat and Rajasthan. Thank you!

    • @SharmasTravelogues
      @SharmasTravelogues  3 роки тому +1

      There is no restriction on driving from and into either states however, wearing mask is mandatory in Gujrat even if you are alone or with your relatives in the car with windows up. Fine is INR. 1000. We were stopped by a traffic cop for this in Vadodra under flyover while taking turn towards Halol bypass. Ditto for Rajasthan, especially in city traffic and signals. I have heard, this rule is now in Maharashtra too. No report shall be asked on highways, checkposts, tolls etc while crossing from one state to another. It is the hotels that ask for first or second dose vaccine certificates as per respective state policy. Even while site seeing, like temples or boat rides - report is not asked by anyone. Wearing mask is enough. Hope this helps, happy journey!

    this video is quiet informative. im planning the same trip now by road and would like to know which route did you take? via Ahmedabad or Godra? is it really possible to do mumbai to udaipur in 12 hours?

    • @vampire198014
      @vampire198014 Рік тому

      yes it is possible by taking as less breaks as possible, Driving your car at above 90 KMPh but less than 100KMPH. Imp thing is keep your car tanked up to brim & dont fill up.. ( your car tank if more than 50 Lts is ideal). I have done it about 11 hrs Udaipur to Mumbai starting at 7 AM from Udaipur... reach Mumbai by 6 PM...

  • @rishab2468
    @rishab2468 3 роки тому +2

    3.Long route Truck drivers are always drunk, so beware while overtaking or when you find them coming from opposite side.
    4.Drive your CAR sitting on drivers seat like an HAWK. Always remain ALERT. Keep constant eye on your front and rear view mirror.
    5. Never drive with your mobile headphone on your head.

    Thanks for such a informative video , some questions .
    1. Is the road straight , are there any hills and ghats on the way
    2. Are you both vaccinated with 1 or both doses ? were you stopped and asked on road ? what about hotel ?
    3. Any bad patches of road you travelled ?
    4..do they check luggage on highway
    Thanks

    • @SharmasTravelogues
      @SharmasTravelogues  3 роки тому +1

      1. Roads are 85% straight despite Aravalli range in Rajasthan. 2. At the time, we just had one dose, hotel was okay with it and no one asks when you visit any monument/boat ride etc. 3. No bad patch of road at all, criuse confidently. 4. No checking on highway what so ever for luggage except for mask. Make sure every one in car has a mask on face or at least on chin. The fine for getting caught without it in Gujrat is INR. 1000+ ... hope you have a wonderful journey, stay safe!

    Beautiful video. I've done loads of driving years ago. Now I wanna restart with my son. The physical fitness part really struck a chord there. Thanks for the eye opener. Are cars with litely tinted screens being let through across all the states for this trip? Did u see the cops being super sensitive?

    • @SharmasTravelogues
      @SharmasTravelogues  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! Personally, I don't have tinted glass so no experience. Only company fitted tinted glasses are permitted which are usually light shades, darker ones will definitely be pulled up especially when they'd notice car from another state. Hope you have a great journey!

    You could have easily got 20% more millage, had you not driven with the tank full. The weight the car carries and the milage are inversely proportionate
    Good vlog though. Decent, and neatly narrated. Good luck, both of you.
