  • This is a tutorial to help you if you own a chevy hhr that has a problem with water getting inside on the floors. If your car has a moonroof there is a chance your drain tubes that are disconnected. This is what i discovered when i pulled the headliner down. I was not surprised on what I saw!!

Thanks for the Help, the issue was exactly as you said, repaired in 2 hours and you would never know I touched the headliner, tip maybe for everyone that hasn't done it yet I used a flat wooden spatula to tuck the headliner back into place. Thanks so much for the descriptive video.

Thank you for this video. My HHR has been leaking from the same place. I just fixed the flimsy plastic under the wipers, now the sun roof is leaking. I'll pull it apart later and check.

Thought HHR did not get side curtain bags until 2008. Be careful blowing out the drains, if clogged could cause that line to come out of that red connector. Might try running heavy plastic fishing line down it. My 2007 first problem was the cover over the a/c evaporator above the cabin filter. the cardboard like cover was not attached and funneled in water. Still having leak on driver side front. Taped around sunroof with electrical tape, went through heavy period of rain and did not see leak. Noticed my headliner velcro had turned loose from headliner and had been hot glued but came loose. Zero water on headliner.

Thank you for the comment:) that car is long gone now but I remember the problems I had with it. I bought a Silver 06 without a moonroof which I currently own and is much better. I also have an 09 SS which is a blast to drive. The one in the video was a lemon. Too many issues with it but the videos I made about that car have helped so many. That is why I kept the videos up. I appreciate you taking the time to help me:)

Why thank you:) very kind. Your mechanic will install a new shifter for you. You will be back on the road in no time. The shifter is what is bad in your car.

It’s either that sunroof but the most common problem is the rubber seal above the air filter under the hood you will have to take the wipers off then that whole panel and you will see it

My 2006 LT had same problem. My sunroof stopped working suddenly a couple months ago. Turned out to be low volts output (to the sunroof)from the under hood main fuse box. Entire fuse box replaced. My HHR and a 2007 & 2008 in the junkyard all had this same poor design from Chevy GM; all 4 corner drain connection on the sunroof had shrunk back from the other tube connections. They just didn't come loose like this video but had shrunk back about an inch!!

im thinking of using a die that washes off to drop a little or a bunch on the suroof interior drain pan on all four corners to spot the leak but then youll have to clean up. Which might be hard to clean the ceiling part but if its going to the floors and youre not shure its the sunroof maybe you could ise something that washes off maybe or maybe not. I dont know but probably best way is to take everything off and do it that way. SO you don t have ot clean up a big mess afterwards. If i had all the right tools i would do it but i dont feel like running all over town to gather all the tools which involves tool shopping and do it and a storms on the way etc... If i had a garage like back home i could just buy the best tools which most i already have and its all on one level and inside and do it at night or day when i want and very comfortable to work in the shade compared to 90 degree blistering humidity at 90 percenct with a storm on the way going up and down a bunch of times waiting in the elevator while you want to move fast buy hyou cant because the elevator wont go up fast enough and you just get totally exausted doing something that should take five minutes but turnes into a huge all day thing. Thats why if i move to one place and settle in one place im getting either new cars every 5 years or having a 3-4 car garage with tools and lifts and everything so i can do something quick and its doing this is really nothing three screws and this and that but if you break somehting or air bag goes off its not worth it.

hoping compressed air trick works so I don't have to take the whole headliner out. I'm getting leaks through the airbag/seatbelt areaand don't see how it could get that far back even if the front 2 tubes are pluged, if they are not connected then thats goin to suck. the sunroof seal looks in pretty good shape but maybe I'll have to run some water over it to test for echo. I also have the problem of the windshield cowling leaking and it's not the patch fix under it, it has got to be something blocking the drain system backing it up enough where it's getting inside. also I am thinking I'm going to drill 3-4 screws in cowling to hold it against the windshield and use flex-seal. 2007 hhr made in mexico... well I thought it was American ! lol

I know it's an old comment but in case anyone else comes across it, when my rear hatch leaked it was due to the line for the window washing fluid coming loose.

The water leak I found was not from the Sunroof but from the weather strip around the back door. Over time the heat shrinks the rubber causing water to run down the top of the weather strip to the floor under the carpet. My solution was a tube of Window Caulk. After a thick bead of Caulk the issue has gone away. The floor stays dry.

@@popcornplaya83ify Ok:) to be honest I don't think this is your problem. The problem might be your weather stripping around your door might be bad and in need of replacement. Very common, the weather stripping on my car was bad. You can get a replacement at a local salvage yard on a scrapped hhr. It just pulls right off and reinstall very easy. The stripping goes all the way around the door frame. Give that try maybe that will fix your problem:) Good luck:)

I had to pull the carpet out of my car smell like a wet dog so because it would flood in the passenger side and it would come through the passengers top by the windshield kind of thing and they had to sell it at the dealership and that was about it but now my blower motor is bad

That was my water leaking problem. This moonroof two drain tubes was very dirty, and water level goes up to the upper level plastic part and then goes to downside on the floor. I clean this two tubes and water goes to downside very well. ua-cam.com/video/KIT0K2sk7dM/v-deo.html and sec vid : ua-cam.com/video/6H2vo8RBzGk/v-deo.html
