The touchpad I actually liked with having experience in it with 2 Acura vehicles. I hate to say it but this seems like a lazy refresh, no digital cluster, really no styling changes, no touchscreen or new features. We need a new gen rdx with a type s.
You mentioned "subtle" changes. It seems the updates are so subtle that they scarcely exist. Too bad. Maybe '24 model will be discounted. Pretty much the same vehicle. The RDX needs a better transmission that shifts immediately when you pull a paddle like a ZF transmission. And they need to get rid of that touchpad controller and not take up so much space on the dash for a knob for driver modes. And then add fully customizable ambient lighting. Then it would be a great choice

It's such a great car, hopefully they don't increase the price too much for the next gen, and don't shrink the interior dimension like TLX vs last gen TLX

Yk… I tend to get Mazda and Acura mixed up and this does not help. If somebody doesn’t know cars like that, they could easily mistake this for a CX-5. Acura and Mazda pulled off the same change by making the lower moldings body colored. It had a good look yes, it makes it look naked but imo, I think having the black plastic gives it a little contrast. This is to much white in my opinion. I think in a darker color it would be more discreet. But in general this vehicle is nice all around and doesn’t really need any major changes
The RDX *USED* to be the best buy in its segment Until Acura began increasing the price When it came out in 2018 the MSRP was $37,400 Now for 2024 the MSRP is $44,700....despite literally being a 6 year old platform by this point Thats literally a $7200 more for the same vehicle
Okay, my daughter loved Acura, so got brand new 2017 Acura RDX, V6 3.5L. She drove for 55K miles. Lot of repaired bills- like alternator, battery, transmission hesitation, etc. The Acura dealership gave her very cheap for trade in, so she keeps her RDX. She started with brand New Mercedes Benz… The RDX timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and few other items, and included four rotors & pads. Calibers rebuilt due to shortage Honda supplies in 2022. Spark plugs- Iridium NKG replaced every 40K miles. All fluids changed: engine oil filter every 5K miles, transmission fluid, and all gears box fluids replaced every 40K miles. Now 100,100 miles running very well, but the gas mileage on highway 23 mpg, the city is very poorly at 15 miles mpg. The mileage went up so fast-and not sure the computer did that. Because Honda had history law suit about mileage inaccurate on speed odometer.
Yeah, yeah - the same old trackpad complaints that people knee jerk too. Some good things though. Removing the chrome was good. The wheels are much better on the lower trims. The body colored lower panel on the higher trims is a LOT better. Hopefully a new gen is coming in 2026.
I wish Honda would have given it a regular traditional shifter.. I hate the push button shifter.. But glad they kept the traditional analog gauge cluster..
can’t wait to see the MDX next 😍 although Acura needs more features 😩 isn’t it a luxury brand?? All trims should have a digital dash at this point even base model Hyundais have that..
How do people cry about the touch screen? Once my phone connects to the Bluetooth, I never have to touch the radio. I literally use the Maps in my phone, and control my Music from my phone.
Acura owner here. If you are doubting this car because of the lack of touchscreen and the presence of a trackpad, here's what I can say. This car excels in driving response (I find it better than driving the audi Q5), it has a good mpg and lots of space in the backseats and trunk for small families. People hate the "trackpad" because they use it like a laptop touchpad. The way it works is that the square is a representation of your screen and by looking at the screen you can situate your finger on the pad to track which action you are trying to do. Once you get the logic behind it you'll never miss touching and dirtying your screen ever again. to sum up: if you want a compact suv with lots of cool tech, an amazing drive and lots of space for a small family of 4 or less this is ur car. If a touchscreen is what you want, then go buy a Kia or something, they have huge touchscreens
I own a '21 RDX Base Sh-AWD. I watched the video and honestly had a pretty hard time seeing the upgrades. That said, my wife really likes it. We live in the higher country west of Denver and the Sh-awd combined with the snow mode is amazing. The 4 cyl. turbo is has enough kick to get us up the mtn. passes with little effort and has plenty of power when we need to get on the gas to pass. We avg. 26.2 mpg commuting in comfort mode. It has a much sportier feel than a Venza. I haven't driven an NX to compare so maybe we're missing out. Yes, the track pad is lame but you get used it. Yes, ours takes premium not sure if the newer years do or do not. Yes there are annoying rattles, especially when the car is cold. Would I buy this new? Absolutely not. Would I buy this as a 3-year-old, used lease vehicle with 26k and 1 year warranty left for $28k? I did and would again, every single time.
I have a 2019 RDX, after 15 yrs of Honda Element 5 speed manual AWD ownership. The vehicle drives & handles fine, with good performance. However, the brakes are typical non confidence inspiring soft pedal Honda spec. The biggest downfall of this model is the Tech & Infotainment. My Infotainment system killed my battery & left me stranded 3 times due to software issues that prevented the system from powering down. I had to replace the battery because of this. The dealer did replace the infotainment system wiring harness under a recall. No problems since, fingers crossed, but I always check that the infotainment screen goes off before I walk away. The so-called "Driver Assist features" are slow, sluggish, & suffer from poor cpu processing power. The collision avoidance system & adaptive cruse control almost CAUSED two accidents. I narrowly avoided being rear ended twice. Once I either disabled them or turned them off, they've become less intrusive & dangerous. The 10 speed automatic also suffers from poor cpu or software control. I only find it acceptable when driven in full semi-manual mode, otherwise it constantly lugs the engine & always requires a sluggish downshift for any kind of acceleration. I've made my piece with the vehicle by turning almost everything electronic or automatic off, but I came very close to getting rid of it during my first couple years of frustrated ownership. If this vehicle was available with a Civic 6 speed manual & a non-SH-AWD viscous coupled 4WD system, I would trade mine in instantly. I really want to love & not just tolerate my RDX, but I actually miss my 2006 Element & Gamin GPS.
Could y'all please do thorough reviews on each vehicles lane keep assist? Ive started to notice in the comment sections that people are having slightly different experiences in each model of vehicle; even with the same car manufacturer using the same technology.
I wonder if they have fixed the panorama sunroof problem where some of the RDX is going to have "popping" sound when going into a bump/curb indicating that there are insufficient clamp force of the bolts on the sunroof frame. Thus 6-8 hours are needed to fully replace the frame and bolts.
People who complain about the track pad have never used it. It is super easy to use. The reality is that once you have a baseline of settings in your vehicle, you don't need to use it very much.
Again, Acura didn't listen to customers and journalists, they didn't make the screen touch capable and they didn't make a type s, what is their problem?
Premium gas is recommended but not required. But yes it didn't have any of those features or even manually reclining rear seats which is such a simple feature to not have

@@carterbasile1720 yes that’s fine, it’s okay to like chrome. There is just less of it on most cars today because the younger crowd thinks it tools cheap and gaudy. Now you see black wheels and the elimination of chrome surrounds in more and more cars, lots of people have it blacked out. I just bought my new Toyota Camry and 60% of them have an option listed as a blackout package for emblems and window surrounds and so on. So I am not wrong.
Thank for an awesome review!!! Does this come with an option for "Smartphone Projection Screen Size" - as for the MDX 2025?? And can this be updated to 2023 / 2024 RDX models??
I test drove an RDX advance yesterday. When I went to take off engine sounded like it was struggling. Have you noticed this? I'm going to test drive again.
ignoring the touch pad which has mixed reviews lol, the whole control center needs to be redesigned! it looks so outdated. The new Honda interiors are fresh and looks amazing. I own a 2022 Honda civic sport.
and the more reviews I watch, the exterior design lacks excitement compared to the fresh and more aggressive styling of the new Honda lineup (comparing with the CRV).
Acura hasn't done enough for 2025 to sway folks away from a GV70, NX or BMW. Not replacing the touchpad with a touch screen was a BIG mistake. Also, not adding another 30-40hp for a Type S version, BIG mistake. Unless rumor is true that the RDX will be replaced in 2026-2027.
@@naveenthemachine I care about value and ergonomics. I like the RDX looks vs the NX, but I spend my time INSIDE the car, and that's where the NX or GV70 out-classes the RDX.
@@Tully3674 gv70 yes but the nx absolutely not. A cx5 or cx50 sportage tuscon or even a rogue are nicer inside than the nx You’d honestly be better served in those alternatives vs the nx
So what? The nx isn’t better. The nx outsells a macan and gv70 so that must mean the nx is objectively better in every way to a macan or gv70. But that’s just not how anything works
Is it weird that I like the RDX better with black cladding? I know the painted cladding is supposed be fancier, but for some reason it just doesn’t look right to me.
Well my 2018 V6 RDX has a touchscreen and another screen on top. I added android auto head Unit. It is slightly faster and no turbo lag. It doesn't look as stylish as the gen 3 but if this is gen 4 then I am going to keep the gen 2.
@@naveenthemachine I do agree with that but Acura just needs to upgrade the technology or redesign the car cuz that been out ever since 2019. It's time for a redesign
What updates? I see the same product. The competitors offer so much more. Acura is tedious, and I’m tired of waiting lol When the point is made “but for the price and what they offer” if price isn’t a factor then there is no point to claim it’s the better choice. I still own a 2018 TLX Aspec and have been waiting to upgrade but they haven’t blown me away to want anything newer than my car that’s 6 years old now.
Same old same old… nothing new that significantly changes this vehicle. It needs: a turbo V6… a redesigned dashboard (get rid of the frigging UGLY iPad sticking out of the dash like an afterthought)… a completely up-to-date infotainment system… and probably more stuff too!! Come on ACURA - GET WITH THE PROGRAM!! I love my 2018 RDX and will NEVER update until they redesign everything!!
How? The NX infotainment system is a full touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto btwn the standard 9.8" display & the bigger optional 14" display, not to mention a bigger variety of unique exterior & interior color options
@@CarsandTechInfothe infotainment in the nx is nothing all that special. Not to mention it’s cramped, boring to look at and drive, every version is slow, and the nx has the character of being a fancy RAV4. At least the RDX is faster and a lot more engaging and more fun to drive despite being older than the nx. If anything it’s the nx that’s outdated
I hate Acura doesn’t let order A-Spec or A-Spec advance package with white exterior and light interior. Why smb decides it instead of a customer?!🤬 Hope they finally produce Sport Hybrid version
Honda doesn’t really have a good hybrid for this vehicle. Their hybrids are only 200 hp so they can’t downgrade the powertrain output that much. Acura has 21% less sales YTD than last year so they can’t afford RnD for a good hybrid at the moment
Acura done lost my business, that is for sure. Way too many other makes/models that give me what I want that FEEL like a LUXURY vehicle even if they are not so classified!!
What shame! Beautiful car but a pesky touch pad instead of touch screen is unacceptable. 54K ? Pilot,Odyssey,CRV,Civic ,MDX and Accord all have a touch screen. I love the RDX. Just cannot buy this cause of it. So disappointed. Will have to go with Lexus NX.

Acura should make rdx v6
ignoring the touch pad which has mixed reviews lol, the whole control center needs to be redesigned! it looks so outdated.
The RDX outclasses the nx in just about every aspect
@@naveenthemachine I care about value and ergonomics. I like the RDX looks vs the NX, but I spend my time INSIDE the car, and that's where the NX or GV70 out-classes the RDX.
@@Tully3674 gv70 yes but the nx absolutely not. A cx5 or cx50 sportage tuscon or even a rogue are nicer inside than the nx
You’d honestly be better served in those alternatives vs the nx
Keep my RDX 2017 V6 279 HP and definitely not Turbo.
Same for my 2016 which I’ve had since new. Great car.
The front like a mini-van
omg! when I see that touch pad they kept, the answer is no. disappointed
Wish they had a hybrid option (like the Honda CR-V). Seems like an easy thing to do.
I prefer the true touch pad in my MDX over touch screen, I have touch screen in my other vehicles.
I’m just gonna lease a mdx probably I want full digital cluster and touch screen radio
That Entire Center Console is just A SHAMEFUL EMBARRASSMENT FOR THAT CAR.....
Stupid track pad and touch button shifter nah ...I love stick shift ...Lexus NX will sell 10 to 1 of these
So what? The nx isn’t better. The nx outsells a macan and gv70 so that must mean the nx is objectively better in every way to a macan or gv70. But that’s just not how anything works
@@naveenthemachineyes that is how it works, whatever has the most value to the consumers sells, whether it's dealer experience, brand name or resale
@@shivamarya5225 so that means McDonald’s provides a better burger experience than five guys?
@@naveenthemachine if mcdonalds charged the same and still sold more then yes
Looks like the center console got a redesign as some exterior items. I'll be keeping my 21.
Painted body panels are nice
Very nice.
Is it weird that I like the RDX better with black cladding? I know the painted cladding is supposed be fancier, but for some reason it just doesn’t look right to me.
I have a 2019 Acura RDX A-spec.
Aside from the wireless charger, the interior looks exactly the same. LOL
Refresh? Where??? Acura is so done.
No joke this is so lazy
Well my 2018 V6 RDX has a touchscreen and another screen on top. I added android auto head Unit.
It is slightly faster and no turbo lag. It doesn't look as stylish as the gen 3 but if this is gen 4 then I am going to keep the gen 2.
Touch Screen comes with Gloves?
I like it, but I still would have picked the Genesis gv70 or the Lexus NX
I’d pick the gv70 or RDX over the nx every single say
@@naveenthemachine I do agree with that but Acura just needs to upgrade the technology or redesign the car cuz that been out ever since 2019. It's time for a redesign
@@tahran5782 the RDX has aged well. Tech upgrades id agree but in just about every other way the RDX has aged extremely well
What updates? I see the same product. The competitors offer so much more. Acura is tedious, and I’m tired of waiting lol When the point is made “but for the price and what they offer” if price isn’t a factor then there is no point to claim it’s the better choice. I still own a 2018 TLX Aspec and have been waiting to upgrade but they haven’t blown me away to want anything newer than my car that’s 6 years old now.
Why do they insist on that track pad?? Interior, screen, track pad…deal breakers for me. Would love a hybrid option as well.
Superbe voiture
Is Acura serious? Lol this is laughable. Hard pass!
Way better than Lexus
How? The NX infotainment system is a full touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto btwn the standard 9.8" display & the bigger optional 14" display, not to mention a bigger variety of unique exterior & interior color options
Absolutely agree
@@CarsandTechInfothe infotainment in the nx is nothing all that special. Not to mention it’s cramped, boring to look at and drive, every version is slow, and the nx has the character of being a fancy RAV4. At least the RDX is faster and a lot more engaging and more fun to drive despite being older than the nx. If anything it’s the nx that’s outdated
Disappointing 😊
The RDX has aged significantly better
Very cool
I hate Acura doesn’t let order A-Spec or A-Spec advance package with white exterior and light interior. Why smb decides it instead of a customer?!🤬 Hope they finally produce Sport Hybrid version
what model RDX is in this video? I just got an A-Spec Advanced and I have red illumination on the tachometer. Is there a way to get that off?
This is the Advance. I am unaware of any way to change the gauge cluster color.
Hi a question for that reliability rating index, does that mean the lower the number is the better reliability? Thanks!
All cars are reliable within the first five or so years.
You are correct that lower is better. It's based on Problems Per 100 cars the manufacturer produces.
Definitely just get an MDX at that point
Used to drive an Acura TSX when it used to be a rebadged Japanese Accord.
Now I don't understand what they are trying to do with Acura.
The reverse camera showing on the left side of the screen looks to small and I am also disappointed that the touch pad still remains there.
Why no hybrids?
Go to Honda crv for hybrid, Acura is luxury and performance
I was thinking the same thing, I'd buy the hybrid
Because Acura loves it when Lexus eats their lunch
Honda doesn’t really have a good hybrid for this vehicle. Their hybrids are only 200 hp so they can’t downgrade the powertrain output that much. Acura has 21% less sales YTD than last year so they can’t afford RnD for a good hybrid at the moment
@@CreateR900 But the previous gen MDX had a Sport Hybrid so they could build from that based on the current models
The flat screen and graphics are way behind the competition. Especially at the price point.
Acura has been fumbling lately
ASSS interior wtf is this in 2025???
How so? This will look good in 15 years
This interior isn't that bad but it is showing its age now
@@CarsandTechInfo"The Acura design team is significantly behind compared to its competitors."
Why a luxury SUV from a premium brand doesn’t have rear LED turn signals in 2025 is beyond me. 😂😂
Acura done lost my business, that is for sure. Way too many other makes/models that give me what I want that FEEL like a LUXURY vehicle even if they are not so classified!!
I just want full-screen (android auto ) on my 2019 RDX
No enough to make me want to upgrade my 2019. Still looks the same, sad...
Moving to an SQ5 or GLC43
No digital gauge cluster in a luxury car in 2025, and still using that disastrous trackpad is just terrible.
Hate the infotainment then hate it more now. Thrilled with my model Y. Will never buy a gas car again.
Normal Mdx don’t have adaptive dampers. Not sure why ?
This is an RDX
They’re targeting…. Idk who cus even my grandpa would appreciate some tech… that interior hurts to see at this point for a 2025 😭
