I've been shouting this for the past few years = This year I emulated the full Drosophila central nervous system on a laptop. If you architect it right, based on neuroscience, it can be done. We can't create AGI robotics capable of adapting to any environment and exploring distant lands with what would be required with traditional AI which would equate to a few semi trucks of computing power. We can gain a very high level of intelligence using small footprints of computing power. SWaP = Size, Weight and Power should be any serious researchers top priority with AGI.
Let us put AI into perspective. I am a Master Mason in the state of Florida. Our digest of laws is a 700+ page pdf of rules. We have a test on those rules that is open book. Even better, after each question the section of the digest is referenced so you can read it and answer the question. A 90% is needed to to pass. ChatGPT PDF AI, scored 60%. A utter failure. It could not reason even simple questions. For example: Question 34. Any Brother can confer a Degree and give the lecture in the presence of the Master. (Chap 20). Digest: 20.14 "A Warden, vacating his position as such, or any other Brother, may confer a Degree and give the lecture, or do any part of the work of the Lodge in the presence and at the request of the Master. In this, the Master does not, and cannot, vacate or transfer his authority; but he can always act through any Brother whose assistance or skill he may desire, and the acts thus performed in his presence, and by his authority, are his acts." ChatGPT says: FALSE - "...Reasoning: Chapter 20, specifically Regulation 20.14, states that the Worshipful Master may permit any proficient Brother to confer a Degree and deliver the lecture, provided it is done in the presence and under the authority of the Worshipful Master. However, it’s important to note that this regulation emphasizes that only proficient Brothers can perform this task, which means not just "any Brother." The wording of the question (“Any Brother”) does not align with this requirement." Actual answer is True: "...as such, or any other Brother, may confer a Degree and give the lecture." We should put a break on this AI thing.
Yeah, the book is great, at least its first part. And that made me always wondered if we needed an AI architecture with those 1000 brains, as if every column was an agent or a separate transformer and then have them voting for the best outcome that is presented to the user.
I believe that, ultimately, it is Jeff's approach that will achieve true AI. Keep going!
Been waiting too long for this. Thanks!

I've been following Numenta's progress for years. But, didn't realize you had made such amazing progress recently. Well done and amazing work!

oh wow, those are some impressive performance numbers, way to go guys

How will the world be like after we have AI that is smarter and more efficient than humans?
