7:10 I love how you frame video editors as visualizers.. you're exactly right and you should lean heavily on that definition and include it at the beginning of your videos, maybe shorten it to a sweet 10 second, 2 sentence elevator pitch of what a visualizer is.. love this man.. just discovered you through this video.. keep up the good work!!!!
haven't seen such video in years... I'm a Professional filmmaker and Editor from past 8 years and I Do feel zero motivation on some particular projects for edit n procrastinate for months. Appreciate the efforts I liked the way you explained the whole process in much simpler way.
Great video! However, I would not recommend turning off the lights when you're working on the computer. I used to do that for a few years, and now I have a condition because of which my eyes are dry all the time and constantly hurting-they just cannot get wet. Now, I'm trying to cure my eyes for more than 5 years, and nothing is helping me. I'm not saying that it will 100% happen to you, but a lot of my friends were actually showing similar symptoms. After I told them to turn on the light, they felt a lot more comfortable.
Amazing vid! I’ve heard this workflow applied to artists, as you did, but never had editing grouped in there as well. Paradigm shift for how I see my work. Allows me to value my work as art and apply artistic workflow techniques to that work. Thank you for that
just subscribed you! All the points mentioned are truly a hack to be focused on your timeline completely, I am a video editor too I can vouch for these hacks !!
No please do not edit with lights off and if you are blessed with a sunny room to work in just do that, your eyes burning will be more distracting than TikTok if you stay at your computer in a dark room. When you have to deal with colors, precise color keying and very detailed scenes then darkness is a must, but until then/once you are done with those things... do not stay in the dark. Having a light behind your screen (not in front, BEHIND IT) helps as well if your room is particularly dark.
I just had this one doubt, when you said get a proper headphone and ignore the distractions. So I usually play music in the background and edit which gives a boost in my creativity but sometimes I get distracted too, like I had to think and decide what song to listen next. So can you tell me what should I do about it?
I am pretty sure that this will be helpful to me. Thank you. YOU MIGHT WANT TO GO BACK AND "EDIT" AT 5:08 AND CORRECT THE SPELLING OF "TASK" FROM "TAKS".
Bro I truly believe you were just sent to me at this moment.. Remarkable video!!! Your words were Impeccable!! Thank you for being a Video creator, Like myself... just subscribe and will join too..
Very good video and explanation. I don't know what that was at the end though, kinda broke the message with a shock. But everything else was great. This video was in my feed after watching a couple of Hilliard Smith editing videos. In case that information is helpful to you. Sub number 86.
Another tip would be getting yourself a big monitor screen for a complete immersion into your timeline and deep focus 🤘
what if someone don't have the money to do so 😅
@@Editors_hub7you got to invest to rise up. It will all be worth it later when you start earning.

Having a detailed To-Do list where you can tick off small subtasks every few minutes also helps stay motivated.
