Andrew Marr explains why the UK's 'arms ban' on Israel matters | LBC analysis

- The UK will suspend some arms sales to Israel, the Foreign Secretary has said.
David Lammy told MPs on Monday afternoon that there was a "clear risk" that the sales could result in arms being used in a way that could breach international law.
Mr Lammy said that the UK is suspending around 30 export licenses for arms and military equipment, out of a total of 350.
This will affect equipment like military aircraft, helicopters and drones.
The government does not supply arms to Israel directly, but does grant licenses to private companies to sell to Israel. Last year British companies sold around £42 million worth of military equipment to Israel.
Andrew Marr is joined by LBC's Natasha Clark and Aggie Chambre, as well as former British diplomat Lord Simon McDonald and former Defence Secretary Grant Shapps.

You can disagree all you want but here are the facts. I mean it is finished both as a country and as an idea, namely Zionism. Israel is now an international pariah, a terrorist state. Even support from Western governments is slowly dwindling. The Israeli economy has nearly collapsed from death of its tourism industry and half the work force has stopped due to internal displacement from areas just outside the Gaza fence and in northern Israel, near the Lebanese border, due to hostilities. About half a million Israelis have already fled from Israel, back to their real homes in Europe, Florida and New Jersey. The country is divided with a massive protest today against the Netanyahu war cabinet. And after 11 months the IDF has not been able to return any hostages nor defeat Hamas. In fact, it has killed more hostages than has Hamas. Hamas needs these people alive to be used as bargaining chips in future negotiations. It makes no sense they’d want them dead. These six hostages were most likely killed by IDF, not by Hamas. This defeat in Gaza is an utter humiliation for Netanyahu and for Israeli society. The country is tearing itself apart.
