    Is this the same dyno that you used for the drills?

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  3 місяці тому +1

      Sadly no, instrumentation is but the load is different. The drills are higher torque, so I use a partial brake vs here low torque and high speed so a brushless motor converted to a generator.

  • @billcuningham586
    @billcuningham586 3 місяці тому

    I tend to go with Milwaukee since that is the platform I started with when I got one of the first generation impact drivers. A couple of years ago, I was looking to get a drill with a lot of torque so I could use it on my tractor lift of all things. In looking around, I read about Flex's stacked lithium batteries and discovered that Lowes sells Flex tools. I ended up with the Flex FX 1251 hammer drill driver kit that came with a charger and a 6.0ah battery. That things is a beast. Last year, I wanted to get a angle grinder to sharpen my rider mower blades and the Flex 1371 since I now had Flex as a platform as well. It is a great tool. What I was really am writing about though, is that your review says the Flex has a 5-year warranty. What really was the final criteria for me when I got the two Flex tools is that they come with a limited lifetime warranty.

    I'd love to see each grinder with a graph of power & RPM vs torque. Maybe also overlay the most powerful grinder to each graph as a comparison. It would give insight into which companies are cutting off power before/at/after peak power. Great testing by the way, I'm loving it.

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  3 місяці тому +1

      @Tools-Tested static chart is fine. My scumbag method of animating graphs is to export them as SVG. You can then put different lines in different layers, then export each layer to PNG. Then just use stacked images in your timeline and use a wipe transition to reveal each curve. Not really worth it, though, just show an image of the excel plot.

    Awesome review as always! As others have noted, I too would be curious to see the most powerful grinder from each brand tested. However I know money IS a thing and you clearly put way more into your channel than you’re getting out of it. So maybe a round two later on when you can test all the greatest from each brands? I’m curious about the brand new, not yet available Ryobi. I don’t plan on buying one, I’m just really curious to see how it works compared to the old one. Also looking forward to seeing the new “forge” 8 and 12ah batteries.
    PS. I know it’s unlikely, but I’d love to see you test the Ridgid Octane 36v (dual battery) grinder! Though from what I hear it wasn’t super popular, not many sold, and the ones that did are going with their owners to their graves. But if you do happen to find one, that would be awesome. Also yes I know is meant for much bigger disks.

    The issue with this test is you have not chosen the most powerful from each lineup to compare max power. What is the point of selecting the lightest Bosch and Metabo and put them at the lowest places? Both have much more powerful grinders which would be fighting at the top of the chart.

    • @engineer_alv
      @engineer_alv 3 місяці тому +3

      This is very common on American tool channels.
      There's not enough knowledge about tool lineups that are not heavily marketed like Dewalt, Milwaukee, Flex and so on.

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  3 місяці тому +9

      @donalexey, the ones tested are found in our stores. We don't have the same tools as available in the EU, UK and AU markets. Sadly Bosch, Metabo DE and Makita are not as committed to the US market. The Bosch 18V-15, 8ah+ would have to be imported from EU, Metabo DE is not sold in stores here and ACME imports very little, once you place the order they import it.
      @engineer_alv it's not about knowledge, more like availability. It would be like me saying EU car channels never drive a Chevy C8 ZO6. Not all tools available in other markets are available in the US.

    • @donalexey
      @donalexey 3 місяці тому +2

      @@Tools-Tested They are sold in US. They called a little different although. Those are GWS 18V-10 and GWS 18V-13. 18V-45 and 18V-50 are also more powerful than the item you have tested. All those with standard core 8Ah battery will perform much better in the max power category.

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  3 місяці тому

      Yeah the -10 and -13 are and will no doubt perform better. But the -15 is a step above the -13 which countries outside of the US have along with the tabless 8ah and an unrestricted 12ah.

    I picked up a free Hercules grinder when i purchased an 8ah battery for $99. Turns out it has some kind of electric brake, not super fast though. I didn't see it in their product information. I have the Milwaukee 2780 & 2880 they are old school no brake models, you need to spend $50 more to get one of theirs with electric brake. Seems Milwaukee is falling behind.
    The quick stop time on the Hercules is very nice because it is almost stopped when you put it down. I struggle with the milwaukees to turn them over to the stop rest. If I didn't have 5 grinders, I'd get another.

    Seriously tho thats a serious test setup and a lot of tested grinders. If youre going to throw in non 18/24v tools, you do have to include the metabo hpt 36v, just to see if theres some redeeming 36v qualities, and since its the only hybrid battery/corded it would be interesting to see it run on wall power.
    Makita 40v would also be interesting to see. Im not sure if makita ever made a 36v dual battery one, but if they did that could be cool too. Edit: yes they do have a 36v dual battery.
    Probably not worth testing for the 3 people that own them, but cat also makes a grinder on their 18v platform

    • @james2042
      @james2042 3 місяці тому

      @Tools-Tested I mean in regards to the "which battery you should test with" a standardized 18650 2P chart wouldn't be a bad idea, like off the shelf standard battery everyone has. Milwaukee, dewalt, and makita all ship their kits and promo deals with regular 5ah batteries, ryobi, ridgid, hart, kobalt, craftsman, and skil ship with 4ah batteries, and metabo hpt only ships a single tool with the 5ah mv battery (36v impact driver kit) everything else is 2ah or tool only. I'm not too familiar with boshe or the HF brands so can't say on those.
      But most people are using these tools with standard 4-5ah 2p 186500 batteries.

    You should test the metabo WPB 36 LTX BL 2400w equivalent or the 1500w equivalent and the Makita xgt 2nd gen, those 2 should be the highest performing and least vibrating tools.

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  3 місяці тому +1

      Because when you walk into Lowe’s this is what’s on the shelf. All of these are the models here in the US a consumer can walk in and buy.
      That being said this is the first video, larger models will be tested including the -15 which Bosch doesn’t sell in the US.

    The adaptor must be messing with the bosch reading.

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  3 місяці тому

      Normally bosch is at the bottom, the adapter didn't cause any vibration which I was shocked by.
      That being said bosch rates this as a 8Amp grinder which would be roughly 900Watts.
      They do offer the Profacter line which I will test at some point, which will probably out perform most of these. Bosch seem to be at the bottom and then at the the top with the profactor line.

      @dusanmilojevic3017 Actually the 12ah won't fit the 8N grinder and the majority of other bosch 18v tools here. The 8N is the common version sold here in the USA. Ask me how I know, I have the grinder and 12AH. So either your 12AH is different or well U just have all ProFactor tools?

      Yeah Bosch seems to view the US as a value play, we only have the 2ah,4ah,6ah (new this year),8 and our 12ah only works on Profactor. We also don't have the 4ah 12v. No idea when we will see the 8+ it isn't even on the Bosch US site.
