Hi Lisa, thank you for this great video. As usual I made a practice reading based on what I have learned from it. This time I did a reading for myself. My question was if I would get into a relationship in the future with a person I like (if I would take initiative and apologize) by the next 9 months. The background story is that we have argued. (Right now we are just friends, not really talking often). This person is living in another country. I started with telling me deck the significant cards, that anchor would mean stability and security, heart for good feelings and ring for a relationship. (I did not know what cards would show up, cuz I just pulled 9 from the top of my deck after I have shuffled. It was really cool that all 3 of the cards showed up! I don't know if that has a significant meaning that they did) The cards I got are Row 1: Rider, anchor, lily Row 2: Ring, woman and heart Row 3. Ship, fish and crossroads. By your video, the cards on top is about thoughts, what I am thinking, is to communicate (rider), towards goal, being a secure relationship (anchor), lily (maturity, pure). I was not sure if the cards reflect on any of what is going on right now, they dont seem to do that... The 2nd row, would not represent right now tho... so I assume it is what is coming ahead within the 9 months. With the near/far method it looks great with ring and heart close to the woman (me as the significator) Even the anchor above it is good. When the woman is in the middle. I also felt a bit unsure, because it is just 'the person' and not an energy/description. So I was not sure what effect it has... But it is on the 3rd row that confuses me. The ship falls correct, because it shows a long distance relationship (which it would be). And ship generally means travel. The fish card I have always been uncertain if it is good or bad for relationships. And the ship being the 'hidden' card, could it mean a travel being hidden. But it is the cross roads that bothers me. I know this card can mean separation sometimes. But also choices. Or just 'be on the road'. In this case, me and this person are not currently in a relationship. So would the idea of separation apply? (even with the very stable cards ring/anchor near by). What would the roads mean in my spread? A travel? (If it would mean a travel, it would make sense...since I would need to travel to meet the person). Sorry for a long message. I am just confused about a card such as the road falling into the final place. (Same if the book would have been there). Would it mean separation? Or travel? Or just to make a choice(for me to decide) In this case. Thank you for reading my message!
Hi Warm Bunny! I read through your question and if I'm reading it correctly, you're asking if you'll begin a relationship with this person in the next 9 months. I'm going to tell you how I'd interpret this. As you land in the center, all cards are near. You have all three relationship cards (great job with your focus!!!). The Anchor and Heart near show that over the next 9 months, you'll continue to remain faithful to your feelings for this person. The Ring, however, is to the left showing that there will be no relationship during this time frame. Now, even if I didn't consider the MOD, I'd read it the same way. The cards above your head indicate that you have active ideas regarding your goal of a harmonious relationship. What you have right now is an ongoing commitment to your feelings (25,24). The hidden issue is that there's the physical distance to deal with but also a great distance between what you long for and what you'll have. The Ship knights to Anchor and Heart, showing that what you long for is to secure what your heart beats for. The Ship is heading toward the Fish. The Fish is the card of many/gain/exchange. The Ways is a card of going another way/making a choice/other options. I'd see this as you deciding to walk another path as there are many other fish in the sea. Whenever I see the Ways/Paths at the end of a line or box regarding this question, it says that you'll go another way. Does that make sense?
@@lisaloveslenormand6357 Hi Lisa and thank you for your input. I can see it from your perspective too. I just thought that, if this was a question such as 'will we remain in a relationship/break up' this road card is more obvious for separation. Versus a question when the asker is not in a relationship, it feels like the path is still open. But it would also make sense if the roads here is based on a choice. Thus, would it be correct to understand that this should be an open ended question based on what the woman card (me) chooses? Hi Lisa! Can you help me understand the difference between house and lily as house can mean home life and lily can mean family. Isn't it difficult to separate home life from family? How do we know when to use house and when to use lily in this case? Also, many use tree to represent Family Tree/family roots. What's your take on that please?
You pose some excellent questions and one answer fits all - what meaning are YOU going to give to the cards? Traditional readers (my second book is on the original Method of Distance method that this system employed from its inception. store.bookbaby.com/book/the-petit-lenormand-traditional-grand-tableau) The Lily was the original card that represented peace within one’s life. Family life was important during the 18th and 19th century Europe when your survival depended on a strong and prosperous family. This is why the Lily represents marital bliss (thus it represents sex through love rather than lust), satisfaction with one’s life, peace and harmony in your personal life. The House is a structure - it houses you and those you live with who may not be family. It represents your personal life but it’s the cards around it that will tell you how it’s going. You’d want to see the Lily above the House card, yes? As for the Tree card, it has come to mean many things by modern readers who incorporate tarot and oracle card meanings to it. Traditionally, it’s the card of health - how something is rooted and how it is growing. The Tree is a part of the natural word as are we while in physical form. The Tree shades what’s on either side of it and the roots feed on the soil below (drains the card below). We read the cards around the Tree to determine the state of health of the seeker or the health of a situation or idea in question. So, if the Tree falls near the seeker, it’s bringing attention to the state of health, yes? When the health of something or someone needs no attention, then the card would fall far, yes? The Tree has nothing to do with family but has been given that association because of the word “roots”. I don’t need a card to represent family roots if I already have a card for family. The family card’s position within the spread the surrounding cards would tell me all I need to know about it. If the Tree card falls near my family card (I use House for those living with me and the Lily for extended family), then some aspect of its health needs my attention. Based on the other cards present, I may see the issue as connected to family roots/ancestors. Overall, the problem with many modern readers is that they want each card to have a specific meaning but in Lenormand, it’s the positioning and the combined energy of the clusters of several cards in relation to the context of the question that provides the meaning. I hope that helps!

Hi Lisa! This may be a dumb question but in a GT, do we always consider the near/far meaning based on its distance to the SC, regardless of the subject of the question? For example, if we lay a GT to answer a woman’s question of “how does he think about her”, is the near/far meaning still relative the cards’ distance to 29 and not 28? What about when we read around theme card? For example, we have a GT where all the cards surrounding Moon (work) are far from SC. Then do we read the box surrounding Moon based on far meaning because they are far to SC or do we read the box around Moon based on near meaning because they are near to Moon? Thank you so much 🙇♀️🙇♀️
There are no dumb questions, Lilipad! 1. When you lay the cards for someone, the cards will describe, explain, and advice that person. If you're asking about the operation of another's mind to determine how they feel or what they will do, you're actually laying a spread for that person. In a GT for 29, the proximity of 28, the cards around 28, and the love cluster will all describe the relationship between them. The cards touching 28 will describe his feelings, intentions, or actions. 2. When a life area card is far, it's telling you that area isn't the most significant thing in the seeker's life at the moment. It also places that area out of the seeker's control. You read any cards touching a life area card as describing and explaining that area. The cards touching the Moon are near the Moon.
Hi Lisa , this is another great MOD lesson. Thank you. I do have a guestion, cause I am a little confused. In MOD we consider very near and near cards , so why are the near cards in this box spread seen as far cards? Should we not consider the cards that did not fell in this spread as far cards? Hope you can answer my question! Tack så mycket 🙏
I'm so glad you asked, because it's important. We will, as a rule, consider all cards in a small spread (for me, up to 9 cards) as near. But, you can choose, by intention, to interpret only the cards touching a significator or focus card as near and the rest far. I know some who lay 5-card lines and interpret the center card as the focus of the reading, the 2 cards touching it as near, and the outer 2 cards as far. It works if that's how you choose to read. It's all about your intention and practice. Personally, I tried this method but prefer to keep it simple and view all cards in a box as near.
hi Lisa, I like MOD method and as a novice, I want to learn this well. Would it be wise to do all readings (box spread, lines, GT) according to this method and not delve into the GT/box spread with houses? I find this quite confusing. What do you think?
I would stay away from houses. People become overly dependent upon them and have a harder time with MOD. Because Bjorn was my teacher, I learned the traditional meanings of the cards and the MOD system first. After a few years of trying all other methods, I've now returned to MOD! Enough said!
Thanks Lisa. You make everything sound so simple. For the second reading, is that another complete deck you used? Great reading. Do you ever have readings (cards drawn) that don't connect with the question? If so how do you deal with them? ♥️
Yes and yes! It took a while to figure out the difference between a good draw that I just wasn't immediately connecting with, and completely unrelated cards showing-up to remind me that I wasn't focused or clear in my intent. Sometimes, I look at the cards and start laughing because they're clearly telling me that I my mind was too scattered or elsewhere! If I'm not positive that the problem was my lack of focus - if I have any doubt - I walk away from the cards for a few moments, clear my mind, and then return. I then know immediately if they're correct or not. This rarely happens now that I adhere to meditating before handling the cards. Always in Alpha!
Oh my gosh! As always it was a great lesson! I love when you do MOD videos! It's so clear to understand...of course it's because you're a great teacher and make things so easy to understand! Thank you very much. "Lisa loves Lenormand" and I love Lisa's teachings! ❤😁
Yes, I'm well, thank you, and I hope you're the same. Because I set my intention for the cards touching to be near if my significator fell and any cards not touching to be far. I know I say that somewhere - probably at the beginning of the video. The general way of viewing the cards in a small spread is to consider all of them as being near and the rest of the deck as far. But, if your PSC falls, you can choose to view the cards touching as near and the others as far. You must set your intention to do this beforehand. You can also do this with 5-card lines with a center card focus - preselected or not. You can set your intention to view the cards touching the focus card as near and the outer 2 as far. I know I demonstrate this in another video and in one of the Gypsy Witch videos as well. Does that make sense?
Have you watched all my GT videos? I know I discuss the fate line in at least one of them. I'll be making a lot more MOD GT videos and I'll be sure to discuss it in the next. I also discuss it in my book: www.amazon.com/Petit-Lenormand-Oracle-Comprehensive-Century-ebook/dp/B08YNZ6TKS/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1L35A3MEI4831&dchild=1&keywords=lisa+young-sutton&qid=1624050939&sprefix=lisa+young%2Caps%2C167&sr=8-2
@@lisaloveslenormand6357 Yes I’ve watched your videos. I must have missed or forgot that section of the video. I was simply thinking of a shortish video on whether it’s Fate, Advice, Unseen Influences, how it fits (or not) into the main section, or any other way to use it. Just a thought…
@@lenofandango7186 I'll be sure to emphasize it in the next video. For now, I can tell you that you can set your intention to make the fate line anything you'd like it to be! Most people, including myself, just see it as the "bottom line" of the reading. Everything is above it and influencing it and it isn't influencing anything itself (nothing below). Because I see the GT as a big story, and the fate line consists of the last 4 cards, Key, Fish, Anchor, and Cross, it's very much about the end of the story. What you hold the key to, what of your abundance and flow, what of your goals, and what burdens must you endure to reach them. Does that make sense?
Hi Lisa. I apologise but I'm a little confused. In the first box spread it's shown your work card significator (moon) but you did not do the far/near method as you did in the second box spread, using the woman card significator. Please could you let me know if I'm not seeing clearly? Many thanks 😍
No worries. If you go to 20:07, you'll hear me say that I'm seeing all the cards that fell as near and the rest of the deck as far. Also, I'm using the Anchor as the work card, not the Moon. If you go to 26:46, you'll hear me say that because the seeker's card appears in the second box, I'm seeing the cards that touch her as near and the others as far. I could just as easily see the touching cards as very near and the others as near as I'd do in a GT. Either method will work but choose the one that makes more sense to you. I rarely see any of the cards in a small spread as far but if the thought arises, I'll set that intention before I lay the cards. Did that help?

Yes I’ve watched your videos.

Absolutely! Thank you.
