Hey Team, I’m off work for abit (I’ll explain on Sunday) so have loads of time, I’m going to reply to all comments and have a chat with some people. As you can imagine, I’m pacing the house a little bit 🙈 Hope you all have a great day ☺️👍
I grew up on a farm here in the states, Illinois, and never did I ever realize the amount of money it takes to keep a farm going and I doubt that a lot of people do to this day! Bless you, Tom, and your family for all that you do, and thank you for sharing with all of us...
I never really understood the need for all the agriculture grants until I started watching Tom. I can see how those AG grants really help small farmers modernize and grow.
@@digsindirt4490 - Better that the grants go directly to small family farms like this one. Well run, and part of the local rural business networks, and the community at large. It is when industrialised mega-farms get grant money I cringe. For these, the money goes to the wealthy investors, shareholders, often flowing abroad or to one of Britain's Tax Havens, and does little for the local community. And we let this happen and continue !
Andrew is a gift!!! He is so knowledgeable! Between him and The Ginger Warrior and yourself you make a fantastic team! Love seeing the progress! Stay safe.
Andrew's quiet confidence comes from his experience, but also from knowing that he has great staff on site and in the business generally who know exactly what to do, and are very skilled at how to do it ! A lucky man.
I love how everyone pitches in to do what every needs doing. Andrew is just wonderful! It's great how you show all of the details that need to be done to build this shed, it's much more complicated than anyone would imagine. Keep it up Tom, this is a real education.
Good point, rut, its showing the general public where good food comes from, which is really worthwhile and will help us get rid of those greedy (tax avoiding) sellers of poor nutritional quality highly processed quasi-food.
Great video, to see those two older guys brushing the water out was funny, the two most 'senior' blokes doing the most menial task but with no complaints - good for them.
It's very impressive how you and the ging just do what needs done. No questions just yes sir. Your barn looks great and Mr Waring is sure a wealth of knowledge
It is starting to make more and more sense. A dry yard!! A clean dry yard!! You won't know what to do with yourself. I did enjoy that it was someone other than Tom in the hole in the ground with the pump pipe (at least to start). Ginger guy working away like a youth. Just so great. All you need to do is stay ahead of the slurry.
Hi Tom, Olly Harrison spoke of you having COVID in his video a couple of days ago. Hope, if this is correct, that your are fine and that you and the ginger warrior are still going strong! All the best, for your farm and family, another great insight into your farm life 👍
It's amazing when you think about it, how much you have actually achieved in the last 6 months Tom, with regards to the shed and the new clamp (and you've still had to run the farm). Very, very well done to everyone involved. 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Tom has chaps and women tooo. And they are fabulous and wonderful an an excellent can do attitude an Tom an the Great Ginger warrior teach us all . 😃😊🙂😀
Hey, Tom how lucky you are to have Andrew...What a guy...knows his stuff...looks like a pleasure to work with as well...I bet it makes life and decisions a lot easier... you're doing a fantastic job keeping us all informed and up to speed...I'm really feeling part of your big build...Thanks a million ...im looking forward to more videos...Stay Safe
So fun! I am really enjoying this project and can’t wait to see the end result. I miss the cows so will be happy to see they’re response to their new winter digs.
Loving all these videos on the construction of the new cow shed, it’s amazing the detail that goes into what most people would perceive as a standard simple build, as when you look at a shed you don’t always appreciate the engineering and skill that’s gone into it. Bet the cows Will really appreciate all that extra attention to detail and hard work.
Get better soon. I certainly hope that the Ginger Guy with the 🐄moo 👜attaché and Mrs Ginger Guy stay safe and well. I wasn't well back in January & half of Feb. so rest, fluids, Vitamin D, anti-inflammatory tabs and Multi Vitamins. Still get very tired even now. Best wishes to you all x x x
Looking a nice and tidy job by all those involved. I'm sure all of these careful planning and design considerations will pay off massively when the shed is complete
I worked on a dairy farm in the late ‘70’s that concreted channels along the back of the milk stalls then installed 50hp electric motor to pull/push over a mile of chain and drags through the channels to seep away the muck. We would just shove what cows had bad aim into the channel and away it went! It worked perfectly for over 30 years without issues!
Enjoyed watching the video. Nice to see the shed moving forward. Get well, Tom. The girls need you. Love when you chat to your herd. It shows how much you care for them.
9:16 you don't need to apologize, you've got work that needs to be done. Can't stop progress, just so we can hear you better. Anyway's kick butt, can't wait to see this all finished just as much as you can't wait.
Great video to see how the inner workings of your slurry removal system. You never wonder about the flush, just when it backs up. Thanks for posting and looking forward to the next one.
Hi Tom, what a great video, Watching Andrew problem solving is worth a video on its own, also good to watch the lads smashing the block work. Take care Tom, and get yourself back to good health.
Another awesome video tom, so good we watched it twice! you always show your never scared to get your hands dirty and a true representative of the saying - I'll never ask a team member to do a job you not willing to do your self! Thanks for the expalaintions & sketch Andrew My little lad loved it!
Love the longer video. I forget that not everyone is familiar with brick layers and building block walls. in the Western U.S. Block walls are most common type of enclosure for residential property due to the sun exposure. What they did in this video could be built 6 ft (1.8288m) in a day no problem. There really isn't a lot to it. It makes for long back breaking days.
Looks like it's coming along great!!! You guys got nice great plans for development and future expansions enjoy watching your your channel even though I'm across the pond here in the USA. 👍
you should render your blocks to stop them rotting over time, also add a little wier/kerb to hold some liquid in the bottom to help it from getting too thick with it being so shallow or add a manhole in the end slat so you can flush the channel out. make sure you bed the precast slats on some sand and cement to stop them rocking.
Yeehaw. First, hope ye all feel better soon. Second, if you keep the out let of the channels into the sump high so there is always water in the channel the slurry will float along and not stick in it. Third , I swear by automatic scrapers. have Dairymaster scrapers with 14 years and twice they needed attention of just wearing parts. Hell of a lot handier than jumping up on a scraper tractor everyday. Less labour. You’ll never regret it after putting them in. I hope this finds you well. Regards full time dairy farmer in south west of Ireland.
What would we do without concrete? The shed is coming on well, when it's finished will be a show piece. Sorry your not feeling to grand, hope you soon get over it. As usual a great video. Always look forward to Tuesdays and Thursdays.
I am finding this build amazing a learning so much on how new farm buildings are planned and built. Your drive and ambition for your farm is outstanding and I am really looking forward to visiting one day. Keep up the good work with your dad
Cracking video Tom, got to say Andrew Wearing what a guy!!! How he explained everything to you he’s some chap! But great to see it progressing. Thanks for letting us view your journey.

What a massive undertaking to improve your farm. Thankyou for taking us on the journey with you. Your father must be so excited and proud of you. There will be very Happy Cows on your farm. Are you going to purchase a new pump for the slurry when it rains?
One of the best videos showing the progress you are making. It is so exciting to see everything coming together!!! Have a nice rest and maybe we'll get the occasional Sunday video!?!?!?
As a Project Manager this project is fraught with one problem after another. Every PM's nightmare. And not small ones either. Tom you and Andrew certainly work well together and I can't wait to see a nice clean barn and outsides. Well done on your perseverance, hardwork and insights.

Great video as always.

They won't appreciate it, its just another shed to them !
Great video, to see those two older guys brushing the water out was funny, the two most 'senior' blokes doing the most menial task but with no complaints - good for them.
I’m glad this video doesn’t have smell, sticking the camera into the slurry tank brought back memories of spreading the manure pile when I was a teen

The masons or brickies as you say are tough, hard working people. Back breaking work. They are amazing in what they do.
Really enjoyed this video more than I thought I would have learnt so much. One happy old lady still learning
