There is so much construction on UA-cam showing it being done badly. This channel shows it being done well, by experienced professionals. Congratulations to Wareings, and to Tom Pemberton for filming it so well.

The concrete panels really make this a proper job that is fit for purpose, to think back just a few short months from where you have come from, this is amazing. Wareings have also covered themselves in glory, giving good advice and with enough attention to detail to give confidence that such a big project comes up with what you actually need; a very good reason why they have been going for so long in this business.

Love the closing comments by the Ginger! I'm a Californian (a subgenre of American) so the accent is a bit hard for me to follow, but his pleasure with "organic growth" of unexpected developments was so infectious and adorable! You are both so happy with the build, and it's just a joy to see! Bright Blessings on your farm and family!

It's amazing seeing your ideas(Tom) and years of experience (Ginger guy) work hand in hand. I love hearing him talking about historical information and how we're going back and mimicking or even copying what they did back then (the roller on the concrete to give it more traction). It's funny how we try hard to make things better than they were and in doing so we're going back farther to where "things worked" and evolved over hundreds of years of trial and error

as a retired dairy farmer (at age) I still raise heifers, enjoy your UA-cam canal, especially now that you are in the middle of the renovation of the barn, and follow with interest the new construction of the channels, and the connection to the manure silo , in the Netherlands the manure storage is usually built under the barn , with a manure robot that keeps the grates clean , what worries me is the valves from the silo to the channels , I hope you make two valves so that you falter like one valve , you have a second, so that the silo does not empty in the barn, and a safety that a cow (or vandals) cannot open the valve unexpectedly, but above all, I think you can expect a lot of return due to the improving climate in the barn , thanks again for letting us follow your work and good luck , and wish you a nice dry autumn) with the finishing of the stable

Hi Tom & Ginger Warrior. Another great video. Great to see the project moving forward and learning about future plans. Did I hear your dad let it slip about a New Tank System? Thinking about flushing the slurry system - you might consider storing some of the rain water coming off the new roof into a holding tank to flush the system for when there is a build up of solid waste. I really like the way Wareings have connected the new shed roof to the old shed providing additional shelter between the two buildings. Also great to see your making good use of recycled/second hand materials where possible Glad to learn your back on the farm Tom and see an up-to-date account of the progress you guy's have made.

Tom don't stress over showing us every little detail. Running the farm should be your first priority and showing us should only be when you're free to do so. Great to see the shed moving forward so well just a thought I don’t know how cow slurry is in winter but I know pig slurry freezes in winter and on our slurry store the in let pipe we use steel going to a flexible Bauer pipe for the frost and in case of any blockage we could just disconnect the flexible pipe off and it also takes some of the kick off the pipe especially with using PVC pipe which I know is a great pipe for connecting equipment together just a thought while your still in the ground as it could end up a bit of a nightmare when it’s all concreted in I hope this could help you great work thanks 👏👏👍👍

Well done Tom on work to date .
Maybe the weir in the drain should be still considered even though your relying on effluent and rain water to aid slurry flow. Possibly both can be used if that drain blocks up it would be a serious problem to solve .
Word of advice leave manhole area big enough for slurry pipe to go in to blow solid slurry if got blocked up at some stage.

worst case you can put a gutter system on the one side of the new building and feed it into the new affuent drain if you are not getting enough "wash" through the muck system. You could even put some sort of switch on the gutter drain so it does not always go into the muck system. Just some thoughts.

@@buzzybee1985 The slurry storage is open either way, so rain water is bound to get in.
So at this point i'd think would be choosing between proper flow vs. avoiding getting water mixed in with slurry. However, you raise an interesting point of interest i hadn't even considered 💪
