I saw Adrien Brody in "The Pianist" and then saw this on YT. It's mind blowing. He is so versatile.
I would love to see this punk rock band
I really like Ruby’s transformation!!! She went punk!!!!!
She was always punk. Richie brought it out.
I wish this was a real band. I'd go and see them for sure.
It is a real band, and the song too.
There's tons of sisters out there that can scream the same, just find one.
Song is so bad. It's good. Lol
The bleach blond guitarist is George Tabb. I used to play a lot of shows with him back in the early 90s. His band Iron Prostate was legendary!
Iron Prostate! What a name. My bud used to be in that scene up in NYC Punk in the late 70's. His band was Killer Shrimp
Jennifer Esposito I love you..
Where is she now?
What else did I recently see them in?
The lyrics she's singing are taken from the son of Sam letters.
Oh snap! I never caught that!
Yea, that was from the movie Summer Of Sam.
This is such a badass scene.
I love how Ruby found her place and in doing so got herself a man who encouraged her to be her best, upfront and center.
And didn't judge her either. She was the neighborhood 304. He saw her inner beauty
"hello from the gutters" was the opening line of the son of sam letters to the police.
Man, I fuckin' love this film. :)
Spike Lee has made a large number of films that ought to have been seen by more people since their original ones. I was fortunate to have caught She’s Gotta Have It when it was fairly new (released on VHS at the rental store) and I’ve tried to catch everything he’s done since, no matter the subject matter.
she's very cool!!
I can't believe that there isn't a cover version of this style with a female vocalist. The Furious George original is cool and all that, but this has so much more attitude.
This is nothing like what NY punk rock was like at the time this movie is set.
john dink Yeah this sounds way too early 80s. Also the punk fashion is far too developed for 1977.
+KarlBonner1982 still a great scene
Yeah, I dig it anyway.

More like riot girl shit from the 90's.
They should of added that song on the soundtrack
This is really cool, even i think Adrien Brody looks like Johnny Thunders!
Gary Rhodes, ever heard of that cat?
no, some project's coming?@@therespectedlex9794
History of the "X"
This is so NOT CBGBs circa the 1970(s) when the Son of Sam was at large.
Furious George!!!
Furious George!
Adrian brody is one of the best characters in this movie. I heard he wasn't really into punk rock. In real life he's into hip hop.
Vinnie Stigma!!!👊👊👊
George Tabb wrote it.
Miami thc
🤗🤗🤗 Wo bleibt der verdammte deutsche Trailer..???
The minimal more is less appeal of one "Hello" and one "Goodbye" is what makes it work. A film by Spike Lee, with hardly any black dudettes.
Are you in a cult Richie? What kind of cult?
NYC is the same city..stale wine and vomit
You gotta get the good stuff.
Spike should have styled them more like The Germs or X or a cross between the two. Nasty, broke, not so sexy and way more aggressive.
It’s 1977

Punks didn't play Fender Strats nor have spikes like this in 70's NYC! Also no Punk ever said The Who were godfathers of Punk
Were you there?
@Ishdrip my friend actually was, as well as all of his friends in the NYC Punk Scene. His band Killer Tuna used to open for The Ramones at plenty of NYC shows- CBGB's and Max's Kansas City ...as well as his other punk band St. Vincent. He actually did show me pics of his band backstage plus on the road with The Ramones... so, I got it straight from the source man
@@johnhareiel5118 “your friend” huh? How old are you? Back then people used real photographs. I’d like to see those pictures
@@Ishbikes yup. All photographs back then. I'm 45, but my buddy is older than me
Some of the British punks did like The Who. The Sex Pistols covered Substitute after all. But yeah this scene is bullshit. They look and sound more like a West Coast punk band from the early eighties than an authentic NYC punk band in the late seventies. Like TSOL or Black Flag when they got into their doom phase and started aping Black Sabbath. There was a lot of variety and innovation in the early NYC punk scene. Even Blondie and Talking Heads were considered punk bands and played CBGB's regularly. The way the movie presents it is just generic and cliched.
Song is so horrible it's good

So cringey
It is cringey, but i think thats exactly what they were going for. Adrien and his girlfriend were cringey all the way through the movie. Remember the scene where hes doing the fake british accent and she thinks hes cool? Also, he got mad at his parents for making out and got kicked out into the garage. His character is supposed to be a cringey misguided youth trying to find himself.
you know so little about the punk scene of that era.
