The next explanation video I’ll want you to do is the new World Cup Qualifier format for CONCACAF.
I will do that during the summer, for many of us its pretty simple, but we have many entering the soccer space so will be good to go through it.
Agree
And does gold cup and nations league have anything to do with world cup qual?
@Team29956 got it
Thanks bro
@Team29956 wow drawing closer to the octagonal
Conmebol does not have the numbers that Concacaf and UEFA have to do a Nations League. I think they have around 10 members.
True. But the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers is actually a league. I even think there’s a trophy at stake. But yeah, but a NL will not work since there are only 10 members as you said. I think CAF and the AFC should launch their own. Infantino said recently that he hopes more confederations consider the NL.
Concacaf and conmebol should combine at this point people say that the travel would be too far but look at the Middle East to Australia for AFC qualifying matches
@Paul Calixte so should the conmebol and the concacaf
Yes
They could simply just make a league of 10 teams won with points
Wow this is what I needed. I feel like all of these new tournaments popping up lack clarity for us fans and soccer institutions are not making any effort in explaining it
I love more competitions. People say it's a money grab, but who doesn't like more games?🤷🏽♂️
I like that it will likely pump money into every team not just the main ones
Way too many games all together this year, it's not normal for the players
It’s a beautiful concept. And there’s nothing wrong with it being a money grab. CONCACAF needs more revenue streams to develop the game in the region.
A players legs and knees don’t like more games. Once fatigue and injuries start to pile up you’ll wish they’d get more rest
@@Michelle-ez9hs It's called squad rotation
Videos like this is why I like and subscribe. You took everything that would take me 30 minutes to google and figure out and summed it up quickly. Keep it up man!
Thank you BlueEagle!!!
Yes i try my best to explain anything soccer related, save anyone time and be as entertaining as possible!!
Appreciate it. I already know but I got a better understanding on this. Thanks - Kreis
🤣🤣🤣
Jason Kreis!!!!
I'd rather see the USMNT or CONCACAF nations have international friendlies vs. top confederation such as COMEBOL and EUFA nations, instead of another CONCACAF tournament. What do you guys think? I guess friendlies won't be as competitive though
Well different continents in the world have their own confederation, and they all need to qualify for competitions like the world cup therefore it wont make much sense to make international friendlies the priority.
Either way, the CONCACAF teams do occasionally have friendlies against other teams in other confederations like UEFA but it is still important to have a system like nations league in order to allow every team in CONCACAF to fight their way to the top in their own confederation.
@Manuel Baut104 I wouldn’t call a 2-1 battered but alright
We could see a scenario where Canada and Suriname are grouped in with the USA. Canada is a decent squad and Suriname now has a starting 11 of euro based players, with some playing Europa and champions league now, so I think it offers more competition than it's given credit for. It rewards nations quite nicely by doubling as Gold Cup qualifying, along with promotion and relegation. I think it's great because before Mexico was literally automatically in every Gold Cup.
I see your point... BUT... as europeans play their own NL, too... there is little 'space' for normal friendlies now.
Bro great explanation man. I didn't even know there was promotion and relegation in Concacaf. The force is strong with this one.
Love your explanatory videos, professor Tac!
Great explanation. I just heard about this today....right before the championship. I like the idea and I'm looking forward to watching tonight.
Dude…..thank you for this!!!! Great job
Now that I know what it is, nations league makes a lot more sense and it seems like a good idea
You’re one of the hidden gems in UA-cam
Loved the video 😍
Fan from India
Thanks David 🙏🏼 glad you enjoyed!!!
Lots of love from the US ❤️🇺🇸🇮🇳
Concise explanation...good job👊🏿
Glad you liked it Thank you!!!
Great video. Nice to see the views have increased since back in the day.
If you do. Watch a longs for brazil and copa america will u bring any special guests?
Nations league has given an actual schedule of games for small Caribbean nations for the first time, which intern unprecedentedly gives dual nationals a reason to play for a national team, i.e. Bermuda, Barbados, Montserrat etc. Having European based players in their squads now.
true
@Paul Calixte Gotta love Jack Warner. Decades of him and his gang forcing teams to accept 50k bribes so that their national team can play 2 game every 4 years lol.
Great video bro, couldn’t have explained it better
Thanks Chava!!!
Thanks for the explanation. Loving this CONCACAF/USMNT content!!
I also find wikipedia is great for following these things. This video is great professor. Thanks
glad i helped hahaha
I actually like Nations League
I'll take any scenario that gives us competitive matches rather than just a bunch of friendlies that no one cares about the result.
Elite concacaf content 🇺🇲
The idea of having more 'cool games' instead of boring friendlies works. Many people who didn't think so when european NL started, changed their mind.
Yea, over time many will enjoy it more. the idea is not as bad as many claimed it is
Great video, you should do one similar about the Gold Cup since it's coming up soon
Some good information, I would suggest using more visuals that would help explain your content a little clearer.
GREAT video. Earned my sub!
Thank you! Welcome to the channel!
@@TacticalManager Thank you - and what a game last night! An all-time classic.
I watched cause I was curious great content and I remember when you did a video with adrian
Thank you!!!
Nothing to do with this video but San Marino scored in their friendly match
🤣🤣🤣
Lol they could easily beat mexico.
@@tacticalmanagerbabymommaak5825 with an own goal to win them the match 🤣
@@bendavies3642 they don't need an own goal. They are capable of beating them easily.
San Marino could single handedly beat every national team with ease
Great information
So, I am currently in a bit of a International Soccer fever, because of the World Cup this year. And because of the qualifiers I ended up watching some African and Carribbean football the last couple of days. Can't wait to finally catch my first CONCACAF match live tonight. Don't know anything about neither Cuba nor Antigua and Barbuda squads but that's what kinda gets me excited for the game
It's a good idea ... thanks for explanation
Thanks man
Any time
Thank you
How was Jamaica in League B and Cuba in League A?😅
I think because of fifa rankings. I'm not sure.
Besides, they will be swapped in the next edition
There was qualifying for Nations League to distribute teams in respective groups, Jamaica sent a squad from their local league and lost on the last matchday to El Salvador 2-0. Cuba had a decent squad in qualifying before the Gold Cup arrived and half the team defected in the USA.
@@trentboring3426 who did Cuba beat?
@@tacticalmanagerbabymommaak5825 D.R.
Loved this video! Got a new sub from me!
Welcome Shadow!!!
nations league also due to its timing affected the FIFA rankings that decided who would be the automatic final round of eight in world cup qualifiers for CONCACAF. The Nations League games that took place before seeding wound up putting teams like USA into the Octagonal round while keeping teams like Canada fromAutomatically qualifying for the final round of eight and forcing them to go into a preliminary group qualifier.
I love that u pronounce costa rica correctly
Thanks for the explanation. It's basically the same as what UEFA is doing. I like it because it makes the games more competitive, although it does put more stress on your premium players. One quick question though. Do the groups vertically align between each league? For example, does the last place finisher in League A Group 1 drop to Group 1 in League B? And last place League B, Group 1 drop to Group 1 League C? Curious because that would mean we will only ever see 1/4 of CONCACAF and I wonder how they determined which nation was in each vertical slice. Anyway, thanks for the video!
Thank man, I understand it now, I still think it was for money grab but I will just sit down, relax and enjoy the USMNT
why do you think we haven't called up Caden Clark yet? I feel as though this Nations League experience (even if he just sits on the bench) would be massive for him. Do you foresee him ultimately making the World Cup Qualifying roster?
I subscribed 👌🏼
Welcome Juan!!!
I have a video request. Can you (w/ Pete maybe) do a video of YOUR 23 man Gold Cup Squad? It would provide a nice vis-a-vis Gregg's when it arrives.
For CONMEBOL, they should have the 2 finalists for the CONCACAF Nations League be directly invited to Copa America.
I like that idea!! would be pretty cool
NO
@Team29956 Never.
Explain the 2026 world cup 48 teams format!
I think the Gold Cup should be the world cup qualifier. It makes no sense for the national team to group together every month just to play a couple of games. There's a lack of continuity. Also, it's really tough for players who have to travel back and forth from europe to north america and back to europe to play for their club team. It would be so unfair for a nation to win the Gold Cup but fail to qualify for the world cup. It's like Italy wins the euro but fails to qualify for the world cup, much like Chile failed to qualify for the previous world cup after winning the Copa America.
Keep in mind that the nations league should have occurred in 2020 but due to covid the finals were pushed back to 2021. So our A team would have played last summer in NL final. Then this summer our A team would have played in GC. So our A team coming off mostly a European schedule is playing in the NL finals and then get to rest for the fall season and WCQ in September.
Yea, it would have been fine. The calendar was messed with so we got this! Over the long term it should be good
Don't need a full video for this, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on why nations seem to be prioritizing NL over GC, could maybe talk about it during the pregame to one of your upcoming live streams
Gold Cup was pushed back 1 month this year, and now interferes with preseason for European clubs.
@@trentboring3426 Easy enough, thanks
@@jamesmac7071 In addition, the NL cuts to the chase of goung right to the "competive" games. What gain do Pulisic and Co have by smashing Caribbean minnows? The first 4 GC games are always a waste of time, but with the NL you're diving right in.
I can talk more about during the stream. But its mainly due to European clubs pre season being during the Gold Cup
But professor Filippo! Can you explain why people actually believe the US is going to beat El Tri with Mexican Messi and Chucky Lozano going crazy rn????
ahahahhaha Mexican Messi, I heard he is a goal machine
I’d like a World Cup explanation
Conmebol tournament is having a tough year though. Off topic but Brazil is know hosting it and not Argentina. I never knew this but Qatar and Japan have participated as guests to fill in the gap I guess. Australia recently pulled out. Again short notice.
Nations league is good for CONCACAF...
Except USA, and Mexico because they could use those FIFA dates to measure themselves against tougher opposition, albeit in friendlies
Well that all depend on how u look at CONCACAF, I know when persons hear Concacaf they mostly think about 6 team and those the same teams that always in the GoldCup and aways trying to qualified for WC, this Nations Only benefits the Stronger team the lower teams would have a chance at the NL title, only unless the stronger top Concacaf teamss are not in nations leagues
When talking CONCACAF, I think a lot of ppl think of only the usual suspects as you say
But there is so much potential in CONCACAF because of the number of teams in it.
I want the smaller teams to get better and create a better competition in the region, so that we can have a Guatemala, a Dominican Republic, a Surinam, or a Curacao at the WC
A TNT, Salvador, Cuba, etc...
The “smaller” teams will only get better by competing, and this tournament allows them to do so at a more regular timeframe than whenever the GC or WC games come along
However, the 2-3 teams at the top may see this tournament as clogging up their schedule, because they want to play established world soccer nations
Although I don’t think it will happen, I am waiting to see a GC Final without Mexico or USA in it, and how CONCACAF’s perception will change in other parts of the world
@@soperez1 Curacao has hired Guus Hiddink, former Barca manager who's revolutionizing the team. Don't be surprised if they call up half of the PSV/AZ ALKAMAAR/ Dutch eredivisie. They have over 100 eligible players. Virgil Van Dijk is actually Surinamese, along with so many others but Suriname has had a law passed that doesn't allow any players playing outside of the country to play for them. As of just recently they have abolished that law. Trust me when I tell you they have 300+ eligible players. They could easily call up a full 23 of Champions/Europa League players. They're coming for the region. Even small islands like Barbados, Bermuda, Aruba, Cuba and others have a wide pool of eligible, talented ballers. Jadon Sancho could've played for Trinidad, and Marcus Rashford could've played for St. Kitts, both nations have so many players in Europe at youth and senior level. But the real ace in the deck for Concacaf would be FIFA giving Martinique, Guadeloupe, and French Guiana membership. Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial are actually from Martinique, Thomas Lemar is from Guadeloupe, and Saint-Maximin is from French Guiana. These players don't even have a chance to represent their nation. They are an overseas department of France, so FIFA doesn't allow them membership. France allows other departments to get FIFA membership, but because of the incredibly talented players from Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guiana France has partnered with FIFA to not allow them membership. CONCACAF, and the Caribbean in particular, was set back by the corrupt rule of Jack Warner, who's now banned from fifa. He laundered money and bribed the Caribbean, and truly stunted the growth. Top talents either couldn't play for their country, or didn't want to come close to the corruption. But let me tell you friend I have a very close source that tells me things could be changing soon.
How often these Nations League is played ? Every other year or once a year?
Soooo I'll just watch the NBA and tune in when the actual concaf begins
😂
This should be “The United America’S nations league”
Joining North and South with similar rules
Total of 51 nations !!
Hi Felipooooo!!!!
Imagine a Conmebol + Concacaf Super League
To compete with UEFA
Concacaf is trash what is there to imagine about this ? Lol
AFC should also launch a Nations League
so nations league is like the premier league and the gold cup is a bit like champions league
No? Of course not lmao
Will be great if our usmnt wins.
So usmnt fans like will you be watching the Euros or Copa America and what teams will you root for?
I root for Scotland in Euros and Columbia in copa America.
I root for switzerland at Euros. The reason is simple... they pretty much went the way usmnt was supposed to go after WC in US 1994, when they started their new youth program.
They went a long way...
Uuh... Colombia*. People make mistakes between Col u mbia(U) and Col o mbia(O). No wonder its people are not happy so get it right. Let's go⚽👀👅🙄!
Maybe instead of a Copa America in the US again , we can have a nations league type thing with the stronger concacaf teams with Conmebol.
USMNT GOAT!
So basically what I’m getting from this video is that Gold Cup is more important than Nations League, and if that is the case then why do we have are B team going to Gold Cup and are A team in Nation’s League?
You are 100% right.
The reason is Nations League was going to be player last year. Due to calendar now Gold Cup will be in July which eats up pre season in Europe.
So due to that nations decided to go full strength on Nations League since they would not be able to in Gold Cup.
I am trying to summarize it as much as I can
@@TacticalManager okay yeah I completely understand that thanks for the clarification

@@TacticalManager both! Awesome video. It is nice to see the soccer is growing in the US!
Filipo puts the F in Fun
The real question is: what's the purpose of the gold cup? The nations league will already decide who's the best in concacaf.
Both are useless.
The Gold Cup is the main tournament and it decides the best in the region. Nations is a consolation price, and it serves as qualifying for Gold Cup.
@@12chapin I disagree that they’re useless. If you’re Mexico or USA, sure. But for other nations like Panama, Costa Rica, Jamaica, etc. it’s beneficial to them not only financially, but also competitively.
Can we get a road map to the world cup
It should also be used as Copa America qualifiers
Conmebol would have to approve
But its a good idea
Filippo, say Canada and Jamaica were placed in a group with Mexico for next edition of Nations League. What are the chances we could see El Tri relegated ??
Nations is a waste of time man.
Not very high, Mexico is better than both. They could finish second, but 3rd is unlikely
THE NEW CLUB WORLD CUP
So what is the benefit of winning the final four play off??
Thats just for the trophy! Nothing more.
First (second ig)
Third
Always!!!!
would love to collab w u or have you as a guest on my channel. such helpful content
So you can captie players in nations league?
Yes!
Basically, if you are not in League A you don't have a real shot at the Nations League title, that how I see it at least. but like you said TMTV it's also a testing ground to see who can qualify for GC, and how does CONCACAF decide the teams that goes into (League A) from the Jump!! makes me wonder! but I ma just leave it at that. why does the stronger teams has to get a EZ pass! I mean think about it!
why CONCACAF couldn't place those stronger teams in League B and let them work their way up into (League A) see CONCACAF argument is that Nations League will give lower teams more competition and playing time, but if you really think about it any persons with good soccer sense know this won't help lowers teams remember we are talking about countries national senior teams, for example, we see teams in CONCACAF like Suriname,Curacao,Guyana and Haiti has made some improvement to their program without the region not having a Nations leagues tournament, so like I said this NL the region could of do without it and CONCACAF would of still develop and improve even if it takes overtime ..
All the teams that place last in their respective group are relegated and the teams that place first in their group are promoted for the next nations League. For example if Mexico is last in their group they go to league B, they still have to work to stay in their position.
I find the world cup qualifications way too long! It doesn't make sense for players in europe to fly to North America just to play a couple of games each month, then return to europe to play for their club tream. Jet lag fatigue, they are so prone to injuries. Continental tournaments such as the Gold Cup should be the qualifications for the world cup. Italy winning the european championship means nothing, just like Chile failed to qualify for the 2018 world cup when they had just won the copa america.
Congratulations to the USA! 👏
Thank you!!
I came from the future and USA won the nations league cup
why didn't they call it league of nations instead mas mejor
I have no idea!!! ahhaha
They should merge concacaf and Conmebol and make a bigger nations league
Would be hard to convince Conmebol to join!
@@TacticalManager sad, but would be awesome a nations league with brazil, argentina, uruguay, colombia, ecuador, mexico, usa, canada, Costa Rica, Jamaica etc
How often is nations league
I believe every Gold Cup... so should be every 2 years. But i gotta double check
Plot twist: USA vs Mexico play for 3rd place
Could you imagine!!
We need to play with South Americans more often
I have a great video idea, make a video prediction about the euro 2020 since the squads have been released. If you check out (MM7games) he made a video using a website and he linked it on his description, check it out tactical
They have one to set up the groups right? And knockout rounds?
@@TacticalManager yes, everything is setup correctly with the groups and knockout stages
Do you know if the CONCACAF Nations League has a prize pool? UEFA puts in 100+ million for their national league.

Don’t forget Concatranzas copied the idea from UEFA.

In conclusion, it is an irrelevant competition, you consider Honduras a very bad team, but it is one step away from being in the final, that's how things are in this Confederation. 🤣😂

concacaf needs to be separated from Caribbean teams who need their own confederation. this is obviously to me a revenue generator for poorer smaller nations.
Mexico needs to leave concacaf. Neither nations league nor gold cup provide any benefit, neither in improving play due to low quality opponents, even now usa took a b team, excessive aggression causing injuries, always playing in the 🇺🇸 and less money earned per game and even for the championship compared to cup america
