      @teachmepersonalfinance  Рік тому

      Your date of overpayment should be on the notice. But if you cannot find the notice, you probably will have to contact the SSA so they can research their records.

    My mom has been trying to fill one of these out and its complicated especially when expenses and bank balances arent the always the same, its so much stuff to fill out its almost not worth it. I dont get the witness part, why would someone mark an X for their signature?

    • @teachmepersonalfinance
      @teachmepersonalfinance  Рік тому

      This is an interesting question, and this appears on most SSA forms. From what I've been able to find, 'X' is still considered a legal signature, applicable in the case that the person is illiterate, or that they have a disability that makes it difficult for them to form a complete signature. Usually, in the cases where an 'X' is allowed, there might be a witness requirement to verify the person's identity.

    Where they ask for a claim number or case number where do you find this number?
    No case numbers are provided on any forms that we can find.
    Our Moms SSi was stopped and an overpayment letter was sent to her but this was their mistake and she had no way of knowing why until the notice.

    • @teachmepersonalfinance
      @teachmepersonalfinance  9 місяців тому

      The SSA assigns a claim number to each Social Security claim, which usually consists of the SSN of the person whose record the benefits are being claimed on (in this case, probably your mother), followed by a letter, based on the relationship that the beneficiary has (here's a link to the page explaining more: www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.01/handbook-0133.html).
      If you don't know the claim number, you can leave it blank.
      In your mom's case, you may be able to go to Question 6, which asks about SSI payments. She shouldn't have to complete the rest of the form.

    Am I supposed to report adult children’s income if I’m a rep payee for their disabled sibling? I don’t use their money at all, and they are trying to get thru college. They also have a truck my mom gave them of my late dad’s to be able to go to school. Also what if you are 11k in debt due to how expensive everything is now, even with the SSI payments and now I owe almost 5k overpayment to SSI? Now I’m closer to 16k in debt.

      There's a lot here, and I'm not sure I can completely answer these questions to your satisfaction without understanding more about your situation. Here are some questions:
      1. The person for whom you are the representative payee-is that the person who has been overpaid? If so, how much is the overpayment?
      2. Are you the legal guardian for the person who has been overpaid?
      3. Are there other specific questions on this form where you are stuck?

    • @jvalravn7228
      @jvalravn7228 Рік тому

      @@teachmepersonalfinance yes my son is the SSI beneficiary, and I’m his representative payee. I now $4700 in overpayment. But his sister who doesn’t get SSI has her own job and his other sister owns a vehicle. Also my son turned 18 this past May, so shouldn’t my income and assets no longer count? But also the overpayments occurred from this month back to January 2022
      Also I saw on the chart they sent me outlining the overpayments they had me receiving 900 in June and July but was only due 800, but I actually got 700, and have the bank screenshot to prove it, so those months are an error on their end anyway.

      @teachmepersonalfinance  Рік тому

      @jvalravn7228 It seems that there's enough complexity in your situation to warrant setting up an appointment at your local SSA office to sort through this with a representative. You probably have enough justification to warrant granting a waiver, but they should be able to help you navigate that process in person.

    What is you filled out request for redetermination end the waiver form was accepted wouldn't your payments of receiving SSI benefits automatically start again if you made it all documents sent and submitted within their timeline or is it you automatically have to reapply

    We contacted SSID about over payment and they took one year and 3 months to respond then stop and said we owe 44K. Can’t pay this in 30 days.

    What did they mean about getting money back on recovery of money

    • @teachmepersonalfinance
      @teachmepersonalfinance  Рік тому

      I'm not sure what your question means, but I'll answer what I believe you meant.
      If the SSA determines that you were overpaid by mistake, then they will attempt to recover that overpayment.
      You can either request to the recovery (i.e. convince the SSA that correcting mistake would put in financial distress) by filing Form SSA-632, or you can request that the SSA they recoup that overpayment, by filing Form SSA-634, Request for Change in Overpayment Recovery: www.teachmepersonalfinance.com/form-ssa-634-instructions/
      If you do nothing, the SSA will probably attempt to recover those overpayments as outlined in at least one (or more) written notices.

    So there’s a statement after question 12.F that says if any box was checked in 12.F to go straight to page 13 and sign, date, etc.
    Does that mean section 5 through 11 are not to be filled out?

    • @teachmepersonalfinance
      @teachmepersonalfinance  Рік тому

      Yes. If you already meet the requirements for any of the income assistance programs listed in Question 12F, then you do not need to submit financial information or information about your household..the SSA probably has that on file already. You should be able to go directly to the signature section.

    I received a notice stating that my wife received an overpayment of SSDI benefits as my dependent spouse over five years ago when I went back to work. I do not believe this is my fault as I called and told the SSA I had gone back to work and to stop making benefit payments. I am technically able to pay back the overpayment, but do not think it is fair since I did Report the change to SSA in a timely fashion. Does it make sense for me to fill out this form or do I just need to repay the overpayment?

    • @teachmepersonalfinance
      @teachmepersonalfinance  Рік тому +1

      If you believe that it's not fair, then perhaps you should file. Or, at least walk through the form until you get to a point where you personally feel that you can't justify going forward. If you make it to the end of the form, and you feel okay with everything that you put on the form, then go ahead and file it. The worst thing that can happen is that they deny it, and you pay the money back anyway.
      At the top of the form, it justifies such a decision: "Complete this form if .... You think that you are not at fault and you think the overpayment is unfair for some other reason."

    • @DavidIsaza-p2i
      @DavidIsaza-p2i Рік тому

      Thanks for the quick reply. I was very comfortable with the form until I got to Section 5 and needed to disclose my financial information. As mentioned, I do have the means, but I feel like this is unfair and not sure why it would take the SSA over five years to finally come back and tell me they over paid. I think disclosing my financial information is kind of a lot and not worth doing as I would think they are just going to deny the request. So unfortunately, I guess I will just pay as I am not aware of a statue of limitations against this request for payment of over five years. I appreciate getting your perspective on this so thank you.

    Do we add the amount 25 shown in the video or that’s from our expense remarkers for line 23 ?

    • @teachmepersonalfinance
      @teachmepersonalfinance  Рік тому

      If you're talking about the $25 that's included in the Line 24 calculation, then the answer is 'Yes.' If you're talking about something else, then please clarify what you mean.

    Hello, after filling out this ssa 632 form using PDF, how can I send it to the ssa by email, please and thank you very much

    • @teachmepersonalfinance
      @teachmepersonalfinance  Рік тому

      I don't think that there is a way to file this form via email. The SSA website instructs people to submit their completed Form 632 to their local Social Security office: www.ssa.gov/forms/ssa-632.html

    If SSD has stopped my benefits, what do I put in line 22

    • @teachmepersonalfinance
      @teachmepersonalfinance  Рік тому

      It appears that you should put income from all sources into their respective space on Line 22. If your only benefits were disability benefits that have been stopped, then you probably should put zero for Line 22B (Social Security Benefits).

    Thank you so much for the lecture. Can you please teach how to start a small tax preparation firm? I wonder after EFIN, do I need a brick and motor location to get an ERO? TIA!

      @teachmepersonalfinance  Рік тому

      Thank you for the interest. At this time, we're not producing content on starting a tax preparation firm. However, the IRS has resources to help people become an ERO. Here's a link to the IRS' ERO technical fact sheet, which might be a good place to get started. www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/electronic-return-originator-ero-technical-fact-sheet
