I carry four hybrids and hit them consistently. I watched your video and have a different solution. First set up like you were going to hit a 7 or 8 iron. Second put the ball about 2 inches further up (toward you left foot). Then just hit the ball. This requires no swing change.
I just so appreciate how straightforward your instruction is MSG. I'm new to the game and Golf instruction sometimes feels like secret knowledge that only a few people have and you never know who actually is correct because instructors disagree with each other and yeah I'm just grateful to feel like I got an answer to something I've been trying to figure out for a while. Thank you.
Great tip. I think “big arc” with all my woods when things aren’t going as well, and this usually fixes it. I also stopped teeing up with my hybrid, which has removed my left misses.
I’m not a great golfer (16 handicap) but my hybrid 3 is my favorite club in my bag. I guess my swing is just geared toward that type of club because I hit it straighter and consistent distance more than any of my other clubs.
In reality when club going straight back on the takeaway on the down the line camera, does it optically feel from golfers point of view club is going forward (obviously whilst looking at the ball rather than clubface)?
Great drill! Going to try it in the Squirel’s Den this week! Question… this drill seems to me, would help a player get more consistent with fairway woods as well, no?! Like it’s the same thought process. Off the ground (not tee) we are trying to swing a FW parallel to the ground as well, correct? Thanks for the content and keep it up!
I used to love hitting my hybrid / woods. Idk what happened but can't hit either anymore, everything is a hook / toe hook. I'm great with my irons so I'll gladly take 200+ from my 5/4i , but the miss hits aren't as generous as a hybrid or wood. Gta love golf!
@@stevenshaw9940 that is not necessarily true, most hybrids are substantially more upright in lie angle compared to fairway woods, hence the left exit for righties.
@@Joey1970T I get you 100%, but if you set up correctly, due to the correct picture in your mind's eye, you will see it differently. It will not seem closed..
Have you done a video about the best way to hit 3, 5 or 7 Woods off the deck? I think more people carry Fairway Woods vs. Hybrids because of the price. Used Fairway Woods are relatively inexpensive since everyone in the golf industry started pushing Hybrids. 🙁🙁🙁
Great question! My 3 and 5 Woods are the hardest clubs for me to hit when I am in the Fairway. Does this video apply to Fairway Woods? Thanks for always posting fantastic content! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 #Salute
Hi Matt. A question for you. Will adjusting swing weight will make hitting the hybrid much easier? I feel my hybrid is too light compared to my irons and therefore, it went everywhere
If anyone needs a new hybrid I would highly recommend the mavrik pro he is using. It has a great shape, face similar to a wood . Has Premium shaft and you can find it for well under 100$
I'm going to venture out and guess that due to the years that I played Hockey, I naturally have that swing arc. So my suggestion to anyone would be get a Hockey Stick and some Pucks and learn to Pass, Wrist Shot, then Slap Shot, and in no time you'll be striping them shot way outta bounds like me and Mr. SG anyway.😄 All jokes aside, I loved the video and think it would help. But my Hockey Suggestion may help to so try both and let us know how it ask goes.
I cant hit irons to save my life. I purchased a entire hybrid wood set lol I went from Cobra forged tecs to Lazrus hybrid from 2-PW and after the first game my 2nd strikes were better then ever. some people are hybrid players and some people just can hit irons.
I had a Taylormade Sim 2 3-hybrid and I always hooked the ball. I had to weaken my grip severely and hit with what felt to me an open club face for me to hit the ball straighter. I'm always watching UA-cam golf instruction and came across a Porzak golf video talking about how most hybrids will sit closed if you go off the top line. He loved the Callaway Apex because it didn't sit so shut. So I rented one and immediately started hitting baby draws. I instantly purchased a Apex 21 and it is now my favorite club in the bag. ua-cam.com/video/52K1Hw6x8GQ/v-deo.html
Thanks!

This is why I got rid of my hybrids and went back to higher-lofted woods; I hated having to adjust my swing to a club I rarely used.
I struggled with hybrids until i found a Ping G400 4H 22° for $17, and wow, what a difference. I have since bought a G410 3H.
I hit mine the same way i hit my 7,6,5 irons. Love the hybrids. Effortless distance and easy to control
"go hit 1000 shots" lol love it! If we all spent more time practicing the knowledge we gain from these videos... 💯

Like this, gonna try. with 3 & 5 wood. Thanks Harry
I’ve never really felt comfortable with a hybrid. As of now 5 wood then 4 iron. I’ll give this a shot.
So can this movement work with irons as well? Because I get confused when using different clubs because I feel I have to change up my swing now.
thanks ! it seems to me the same drills are applicable to someone who tops fairway woods, someone like me ! it works.

Matt, have you tried the single plane swing.

Great tips as always Matt. I love my hybrid but do struggle with consistency. I will try this. Thank you.
I absolutely hate hybrids. What bothers me the most, is that they're always draw bias. At address, it always looks like it's pointing left.
Checkout the Callaway Apex 21 hybrids....less closed looking if you will.
@@timlee8604100% agree with this! Game changer!
If that is the case, you are setting up to the club incorrectly… The picture in your mind is wrong about the strike.

Can you make one for drivers too

Does this apply equally to fw3?
Yes

Greatest invention in golf ever hybrids
Happy New Year Matt! Keep'm coming in 2023!
Thanks, all the best to you
Love the ground point of view. Kind of missed that view from actual dirt and grass though. ;-)😊
Love hybrids in general
Love your show
Love KBS shafts
Hate the KBS hybrid shafts
Don't know why.... Why we get fitted
Keep up a great show buddy
Great drill...it works!
Hi Matt. A question for you. Will adjusting swing weight will make hitting the hybrid much easier?

Yes. They should be a bit heavier
How big is that room you have your golf simulator in?
It's like 9'6" high, 25 feet long and 17 feet wide
Excellent!

Gelukkig Nieuwjaar from NL!
Was hitting hitting mine pure but now shanking off the toe a lot.
Solid!
I need your personal trainer! You must work very hard.
"our ball ends up in somebody's pool"
roflmao😂
Its enough to just say,...'..don't hit down on it with the hybrid..' and control the face longer, or hold the position through the shot.
5:57👀
I always get a good shot 1/10 times 😂 so I’ll try your tips next time I’m out
Is this what Moe Norman was doing in his swing?

I ditched my hybrids and went back to my long irons.
Like a fairway wood duh
Ok Matt, I'll hit a few hundred balls each day until I master this with confidence. Stay tuned! : )
Easy to tell….
They are supposed to be easy to hit. Not difficult.
First
Too much. Ya gotta simplify for mentally challenged people like me!
YES!!! Thank You!👍🏌️♂️
