      Well being that Stargate SG1 series ran for 10 years, had two spinoffs (SG Atlantis and SG Universe) i would say it has more popularity with more screen time hours...its just seems not many cosplay it at comicons.
      When this was on the air, Star Wars basically only had the 2 original movies and then later the prequels. So theres literally more hours of SG than SW.

      Also Disney -Lucasfilm is struggling financially because their niche market is too small and remarkably fickle (think the Acolyte controversy). SG1 would have been yanked the first season they failed to make a profit; LucasFilm is grossly mismanaged and consistently runs over budget.

      @@johnassal5838 Yes, the lack of any Earth ships in-between battleships and F-302s was rather unbelievable. They had nothing to match Alkesh or cargo ships (or Wraith cruisers and transports). By the time they were churning out a new battleship every year, they should have had dozens of smaller vessels.
      When the Earth gate is stolen by the Trust, Teal'c checks in with the Alpha Site (now a large base inside a mountain after their collections of tents that were apparently the best they could do kept getting blown up) and then goes to scrounge a ship from the Jaffa. Such an inspiring great TV production indeed...compared to real facts...a time machine could not work turning back in the Past, there's no parallel universe😢😢😢but we have to deal with another kind of system, that fragments of previous lives might return in the future...such as suprematists obsession for slavery, think about it. The battle is not over and good movies ideas to work on are not to be dumped...nope😢😢😢

      I'm not sure they picked people from the Alpha site for the expedition. The Alpha site was US military, the Atlantis expedition was mainly composed of international civilian scientists, and they targeted in priority people who had the Ancient gene so... 🤔

    Always bothered me what did they tell the familes of those people killed and bodies never recovered. Is there an SG team whos sole job was to fake accidents where the a was unrecogniasable? Or if someone was recovered after a year stuck on an alien planet thought lost or dead did they go in witness protection? Were wars started on earth with the intent to hide the casualties in stargate?

      @@realplayer9603 from what I remember from Carson's story on Atlantis, I think families of people who die (with certainty) during missions are notified of their family members having died but the circumstances of their death being classified, and the rest (uncertain death and those who go missing) probably get something similar but stating they got missing instead.
      A big nice "something happened but you don't have clearance to know what" 😬

    • @realplayer9603
      @realplayer9603 6 місяців тому

      @HisuiOgawa do you really think that's good writing for a long running series? Going on a stargate mission has the potential to be suicide mission

    • @HisuiOgawa
      @HisuiOgawa 6 місяців тому

      @@realplayer9603 honestly I'm not familiar with how the us handles that kind of thing in real life (people encountering mishaps during confidential tasks) so I have no idea whether they went for something realistic or not, but... Think about the sheer scope of excuses they would need if they had to give a plausible (and thus verifiable!) explanation for everything. You'd need one for the entire team for every single offworld mission, plus for the people on base too (since Cheyenne Mountain got compromised several times), and you'd need to be able to explain why for example one electrician and two soldiers died at the same time because something exploded, when the electrician wasn't supposed to go anywhere dangerous, but you'd also need other ways to explain the death of those same soldiers in another situation (like if they were in the gate room and got blasted). And if you don't make the circumstances of their deaths confidential matter, wouldn't the families be able to request to be shown the bodies? It could raise an awful lot of questions as well.
      I'd say it's less a matter of good/bad writing and more of a in-world logic requirement. The US military in charge of the program wouldn't want people to know to much, and it's less of a hassle to tell people "you're not allowed to know, your family member signed a NDA when they joined" than to have a thousand of cover ups updated daily. Better to use those cover ups when something actually leaks.

      No this an arc / plot device / location introduced later into the series.
      Stargate SG1 is a continuation of the movie Stargate in which the USAF discovers wormhole travel through an ancient ring device that was buried in ancient Egypt and encounters a parasitic alien race of worms that use humans as hosts and prop themselves up as gods, calling themselves the Go'uld. They however are not the ones who built the stargates despite being a galaxy spanning empire, but instead have co opted the technology of the ones who originally built them, and use it to solidify their "godliness" claim, its discovered that in ancient times the Go'uld came to earth and oppressed humanity forcing them to mine for an energy source, and some were taken from the planet and spread throughout the galaxy to be used as slaves for their empire. Eventually there was a revolt whos details were lost to history and the stargate was buried, the go'uld abandoned earth and its location fell into legend allowing humanity to progress technologically unmolested to our modern times. Until it was unburied, now the go'uld are aware of earth, its massive population, and level of advancment, and now seek to subjugate earth once again.
      The plot basically follows this team of scientists and explorers who go through the stargate to other worlds populated by humans of various different cultures and levels of advancment in search of knowledge, weapons, and allies they can use in their fight against the Go'uld, as well as liberating any humans still under their boot
