Hettiarachchige Reginald Jothipala (එච්.ආර්. ජෝතිපාල; 12 February 1936 - 7 July 1987), better known as H.R. Jothipala or just Jothipala or popularly as ‘Jothi’ was the first born child of a middle-class family that included four girls and another boy. His father H.R. James was a tailor and mother Ahaliyagoda H.K. Podinona Perera a nurse. Hailing from the southern coastal town of Matara in Sri Lanka, he later moved to the big city and attended St. Lawrence’s College in the Colombo suburb of Maradana and later St. John’s College in Dematagoda. Being a music lover, young Jothipala regularly visited nearby tea kiosks to listen to music as his family did not possess a radio. He was a great fan of Harun Lanthra and Mohamed Rafi.
හෙට්ටිආරච්චිගේ රෙජිනෝල්ඩ් ජෝතිපාල (1936 පෙබරවාරි 12 - 1987 ජූලි 7), හෙවත් එච්.ආර්. ජෝතිපාල, යනු ශ්‍රී ලංකා සිනමාවේ නළුවෙක් මෙන්ම ගායකයකුද විය. ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය චිත්‍රපට ඉතිහාසයේ හොඳම පසුබිම් ගායකයා ලෙස සැලකෙන ජෝතිපාල එඩී ජයමාන්න සිට රන්ජන් රාමනායක දක්වා සියලුම තරාතිරමේ නළු නිළියන්ට සිය හඬ ලබා දුන්නේය.ඔහු 1987 ජූලි මාසයේදී වයස අවුරුදු 51 දී හෘදයාබාධයකින් මිය ගියේය.
ජෝතිපාල හැටේ දශකයේ අග භාගයේ සහ හැත්තෑව දශකයේ ඔහු රඟපාන්නට පටන් ගත් යුගයේ නිර්මාණය වූ චිත්‍රපටවල අවිවාදිත තේරීම විය. ජනප්‍රිය හින්දි ගීතවල, විශේෂයෙන්ම මොහොමඩ් රාෆි තනුවලට ගායනා කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් ජෝති විවේචනයට ලක් වුවද, ඔහු ගායනා කළේ පී.වී.නන්දසිරි, ප්‍රේමසිරි කේමදාස, සරත් දසනායක සහ මිල්ටන් මල්ලවාරච්චි යටතේය. ජෝතිපාල ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය පසුබිම් ගායනයේ කොඳු නාරටිය ලෙස සැලකේ. ඔහු ඔහුගේ යුගයේ දශක ගණනාවක් පුරා පුළුල් පරාසයක නළු නිළියන් සඳහා හඬ නැඟුවේය. ගායනයට අමතරව ඔහු චිත්‍රපට 33කද රඟපා ඇත.
