One of the TOP 5 performances ever! Both Theater and studio!!! Bravo!!!! Pure, straight tone with just a hint of well-controlled vibrato….. AMAZING performance!!!! Seriously, he is easily in the realm of Neely and Gillan’s renditions. BRAVO!!!!!! ENCORE!!!!!
WOW....that was incredible! I only wish the director had moved him up to that upper level to really separate him from the disciples...for more of a feeling of alone-ness...but that kid's voice is amazing...coming from a JCS snob and someone who has directed this, he was phenomenal...bravo!
I've watched this production, in clips, and this particular piece multiple times. He has an amazing voice, breath control spot on. Range, great he nails "the note"! But, where's the angst, the anger, the terror? Where's the resignation? Watch Ted, watch Ben, 2 completely different interpretations and in both it's all there. And, as a side note the choice of that wig, completely distracting.
A great performance but it lacks character. He should not be standing with the disciples. With Jesus Christ Superstar with Ted, there was excellent imagery and the use of it to send its own message. It is that he puts excellent effort into the voicing of the song but the emotion is lost somewhere. There has to be a balance of the two.

I agree. The apostles should have fallen asleep off to one side so he could have greater range of the stage. Fantastic singer though.
