    scootplus is premium economy

    • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane  6 місяців тому +2

      Yes, it used to be Scoot biz but passengers were having none of the ultra budget approach and it was rebranded - after all it comes from the country that’s has given us Singapore Airlines! It really is only a few options away from a full business offering.

    years ago I was booked a business class seat with Scoot by a travel agent. I was so let down and upset when I went on that flight. It definitely wasn't a business class seat and the service level was poor by the staff.

      @@wesjuster I hear you! I really enjoy the whole experience of flying so when the frills are not great or nonexistent it really annoys me. It used to be called Scoot Biz and they had so much customer complaint, they changed to Scoot Plus and benchmarked it as premium economy. I hope you complained, that travel agent should have known better.

      @@PlaneShane I agree with you. Good content with the video. I could not believe Scoot was part of Singapore Airlines. I did mention it to the travel agent and they said it was a value business class ( booked in 2018) when they marketed the product as business class) , whatever that means. Since then, I've ponied up the money to Athens from Sydney on a full service airline.

    Interested to know how you snuck those snacks on the flight and managed to eat them without being called out? Genuine question as previous flights they’ve been in their game at the gate and all flight 🤦🏼‍♂️

      @@Major_Watts Thankfully I’ve never really had an issue bringing my own food on to a flight and travelling with fussy eating kids, at times it’s almost a necessity. The seat next to us had some takeaway food from the terminal too. Was this on Scoot ?

    Nice, would you fly scoot plus or sq economy if you have status. Usually they are priced the same

    • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane  2 місяці тому

      Great question ! If it was me, probably SQ economy - if you have status the points accrual to requalify is always a consideration. If you are an SQ gold member and can get access to the lounge for free it’s a great perk. But if your main interest is just space and sleeping, Scoot Plus would be a serious consideration - as a status member you’ve probably gotten used to the renowned SQ service and Scoot is a definite downgrade in that department. Thanks for watching and for the question! Shane

    • @wje013
      @wje013 2 місяці тому

      @@PlaneShane 👍 especially if your PPS. Even in flying in the back of the plane at SQ, you get almost first class soft service compared to many other airlines around the world. But if red eye, scoot plus would provide slightly better seating

    I thought you couldn’t consume food/drink from outside on board?

    • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane  19 днів тому

      Hi there! Someone else had asked this question also.
      This hasn’t been my experience on any flight anywhere (yet!). You can’t bring drinks or liquids (liquid based food included) through security, and you are not supposed to consume items that are purchased duty free. Alcohol not purchased on board is typically from consumption on all airlines. Hot drinks which can burn are often not allowed but this varies.
      Solid foods generally can be taken through security and onboard. Many countries have environmental and customs requirements where you cannot bring certain food into the destination country, even if it’s provided to you on the aircraft (fruit, meats, nuts etc)
      With the huge range of dietary and medical requirements these days it would be unsafe to prevent people from eating and drinking, there is simply no way the airline could cater properly especially on long haul flights that connect across the globe.
      One thing to note is that crew can direct a passenger to cease offensive behaviour, and if your food is particularly pungent, this could be problematic; fish on a plane seems to permeate for example.
      If they did decide to ban outside food and drinks, it would make travelling with kids almost unbearable.
      Thanks for watching! And good question. Shane

    I'm from Singapore and took Scoot business class from Sin x Osaka x HNL and I can't even connect using my android tablet to the WiFi on both outbound and inbound. Compliant to the FAs and will never take Scoot again. Total disappointment.

    • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane  4 дні тому

      I agree the wifi setup is so bad! They give out such a small amount of data for free and the cabin crew have no idea how to help. I realised though that I could connect with my VPN turned off. The free data however, was too small to be useful.
      I think the trick with Scoot is remembering it’s not business class, it’s the extra space section on an ultra low cost airline and then making sure you build your own experience into it.
      I have a Tokyo flight also coming up on Scoot, but in economy. airlines.
      Thanks for watching.

    Nice video and sound advice. Don't let LCCs rip you off. Play them at their own game. But the 787-900? is that the Airbus / Boeing crossover with the Airbus version being the A350-9? You know, like Renault and Dacia or Honda and Isuzu? ☺☺

    • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane  6 місяців тому

      Thank you! It definitely is a game of thrones (and accounting), and nothing get’s to me more than overpaying.
      The 787s were built to compete on range while the A350’s for capacity, but it’s always a competition and now the 789’s and a350-9’s go head to head and the same is happening with the 10’s.
      The 789-10 wins the variant naming battle hands down :)
      Thanks for watching! Shane

      @@PlaneShane Thanks for the reply. You said 787-900. I was trying to make a joke because the 787 is a -9 (and also a -8 and a -10) where the A350 is a -900 (also -800 and a -1000) - getting the suffixes the wrong way round. The 787-10 is the 78X. Sorry, I think I tried to hard and failed - not for the first time!

    I’m looking at this Airline Scoot Plus to travel from Sydney to Athens. Am I going to regret this if I do 🤔 or should I just bite the bullet & fly PE or Business on another airline 🤦‍♀️

    • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane  2 місяці тому +1

      Hello! It’s a budget airline and that’s a very distance to travel. If you highly value food entertainment and service then fly another airline if that’s affordable for you. Scoot’s attractive points are the price and the space you get in ScootPlus. Everything else is below average. Budget travel has helped me see the world but it comes with very clear omissions that allow the airline to provide ( mostly) cheaper prices. Either way enjoy your travel, (or find ways to) Hopefully some tips from this video will help! Thanks for watching! Shane
