    How long did it take you from de-boarding to outside the airport?

    • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane 17 годин тому

      Super fast, about 15 mins - the airport operations are efficient. Collecting a rental car though took a lot longer as it was a shuttle bus to collect the 4WD - they would only take the primary driver as there was not enough space for other passengers and luggage in the shuttle, so once I had the car I had to then drive it back (in the middle of a storm) to the airport to collect my partner and our luggage. One of the most amazing places I’ve ever visited - enjoy your trip! Shane

    I’m looking at this Airline Scoot Plus to travel from Sydney to Athens. Am I going to regret this if I do 🤔 or should I just bite the bullet & fly PE or Business on another airline 🤦‍♀️

    • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane 2 дні тому

      Hello! It’s a budget airline and that’s a very distance to travel. If you highly value food entertainment and service then fly another airline if that’s affordable for you. Scoot’s attractive points are the price and the space you get in ScootPlus. Everything else is below average. Budget travel has helped me see the world but it comes with very clear omissions that allow the airline to provide ( mostly) cheaper prices. Either way enjoy your travel, (or find ways to) Hopefully some tips from this video will help! Thanks for watching! Shane

If you are an SQ gold member and can get access to the lounge for free it’s a great perk. But if your main interest is just space and sleeping, Scoot Plus would be a serious consideration - as a status member you’ve probably gotten used to the renowned SQ service and Scoot is a definite downgrade in that department. • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane 21 день тому

      The bulkhead is a great option - my only issue for bulkhead on any aircraft is they typically have pullout screens that tuck into the armrest. These are often smaller and or/ slightly offset so you have to watch movies on an angle. Bulkhead is always the best though for space, legroom and easy exit to get to the bathroom without disturbing your neighbour and always the best option for wriggly kids. Very fortunately, no! Only on special occasions though. However, this is my first time in Singapore First on the 777 product. What I didn’t post was my flight prior in Singapore Suites. I’ve flown First on United and American however my most memorable was flying Thai in their prime, it was upstairs on the iconic 747 headed to Paris from Sydney, we connected in Bangkok to a shiny new A380 - zipped through the airport on buggy to the spa for a massage. Yes it was a little unsafe changing into slippers early, but I value comfort. I always change into the pyjamas before I start watching a movie and before the dinner service for that exact reason, the dinner service in First is an event and can last for hours depending on the airline, and how fast you eat. ANA is one of the airlines i am considering for a west coast to Asia flight. i know it's asking a lot, but i'd like to see what premium economy is like behind a row of seats. the bulkhead ones obviously will not have a crowding issue so i am wondering what the experience is for a person in premium economy when the seat in front of the is fully reclined. can a person get out of their window seat when the front seat is reclined and they have a passenger neighbor as well? that is one of the key items that would tell me if premium economy for a particular airline is truly worth it.

    • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane Місяць тому

      Hello! Unfortunately Premium Economy on just about every airline will have restrictive access to the aisle for the window passenger if they are not in a bulkhead, the aisle passenger will still need to vacate their seat for you to comfortably pass. Premium economy with direct aisle access would be a dream though. I also love my space, and often find the last row of premium economy can be beneficial because you can leave your seat in the reclined position during meal services so you maximise your ability to manoeuvre if you want to beat the post meal bathroom rush. Best of luck picking though; and if access is super important, the bulkhead seats on any ANA aircraft are definitely your best choice. Thanks for watching! Shane

    Great video! It makes me want to try out United’s Premium Economy! My spouse and I will be traveling to Asia later this year and are interested in trying out Premium Economy. I curious if they padding in the seats make it comfortable enough for someone who suffers with chronic back pain. How did you find the padding of the seats? Thank you!

    • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane Місяць тому

      Thank you! When it comes to seat padding and airplanes, typically they’re all pretty average; even in premium cabins like this. It’s deliberate because the weight adds to fuel burn and the accountants just don’t like it. My thoughts on this product though, which may help in some way, is that in premium plus on the wide body international routes you do get an extra checked bag for free, which gives you some extra flexibility to shuffle your belongings around and take a full size pillow or back support cushion to help better position yourself during the flight (without having to leave half of your clothes at home). On this aircraft, the groupings of 2 seats are also less disruptive for you on a long haul flight than a row of 3, where you’d have to work around an extra stranger needing to use bathroom etc. So when you do find a comfortable position, especially for sleep, you can stay that way for longer. Another consideration for me, is that my better half likes the aisle seat on long haul to stretch frequently and I need the window seat for filming, so rows of 2 are really valuable to us personally. Being able to move and reposition more readily and still get the benefit of access to the window to see where your journey has taken you is definitely a plus in my mind. Best of luck in your decision making! And thanks for watching! Shane

I would be livid if I paid all that money and ended up with someone elbowing me all the way. I’m on a Philippine Airlines A321 next week, will really interesting to see how generous they are. And thank you again! Shane

    I flew the SQ A350 to Guangzhou and the seats were very comfortable. The economy class seats are fabric and I enjoyed it so much. As well I also enjoyed the in flight map system. The flight map displays innovative features including registration of aircraft, the latitude and longitude, bearing, population and elevation of city. The graphics are Calibri font size. However the A350-900 (Medium Haul) doesn’t contain live TV (Live sport, cnn news, bbc news). Fun fact: The Long Haul and Ultra Long A350-900 have Panasonic which contains Live TV while Medium haul a350 uses Thales and has no Live TV.

      You have great knowledge, thank you for sharing this with us! I also particularly like the population of the cities on the flight map. A good flight map helps me discover new places to visit. I try to work out what city I’m looking at out the window. Did you enjoy your time in Guangzhou?

    Excellent and fair review, I enjoyed it. Finnair might be suffering from style over substance. For me the whole point of long haul business class is a comfortable bed which seems to be their weak point. Good luck with your channel, looking forward to new reviews.

      For me the biggest advantage of this seat is the wide bed you get. The weak point is the mattress topper, which is too thin and moves around, but shouldn’t be too hard to fix either.

      How has it not gone well? Finnair made a profit last year even in their tough situation, their load factors are okay and they are able to have a modern, fairly competitive seat which weighs much less than a traditional seat. Of course it won’t be everyones cup of tea, but for Finnair it doesn’t feel like it has gone badly at all.

    A great report! I only started to subscribe to your channel recently. I find your reviews very professional, well filmed and edited, high quality resolution and informative and simple. Your presentations are a delight to watch and you, as a presenter, make the review the star rather than making it all about you. A lot of other reviewers could learn a thing or two from you! Keep up the great work! On another note, I have been considering flying FINNAIR to Europe from Sydney for my next trip. It means a little longer via Helsinki but I think it will be worth it and probably even warrants a stop over in Helsinki itself. The more I see about their business class the more impressed I am. Thanks again!

      Firstly, thank you and welcome! Your kind words mean so much more than you realise. Trying to work out how to film, create, present, edit and UA-cam is all new and it’s a lot harder than I ever imagined. Thankfully though, I’m happiest sitting in a window seat above the clouds, and I love sharing that. So again, thank you. Finnair is a quality consideration and if you’re looking for reward flights there’s some really good Finnair availability out of Asia right now with Qantas. I’ve been looking at flights myself so I can explore further. Good luck with your trip, come back and let us know how it went! Shane

    Thanks for the report, loved the editing! I like the new seat a lot, feels like a safe cocoon, the sound absorbing materials make the cabin very quiet. But yes, I fully understand why some passengers miss the recline option. On the HKG flights, normally all cabin crew is based in Hong Kong, they have a similar consept on the daily service to SIN. Personally I'm very happy Finnair use their widebodies (all have the new cabins) on short hauls too, typically 2x daily to LHR and also to AMS and MUC this summer season.

      On Finnair A321 the first eight rows have more legroom (visible on the seat map), though usually fewer rows are sold as a Business Class. Their A321 is also used for all economy "holiday" flights to the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, Madeira etc. Thanks for the report!

    Confused as to why you weren't able to check your luggage straight through to SYD?

    • @PlaneShane
      @PlaneShane 2 місяці тому

      It caught me by surprise also, at the time of travel there was a health declaration for Covid Health that caused a bottle neck, then no transit facility for international transiting passengers, so all passengers had clear immigration to enter China, collect bags, clear customs screening, proceed to departures , checkin again with bags, clear immigration, customs and security. Thankfully there have been some changes that will speed things up, the declaration is no longer required for example - I’d recommend asking checkin agent what to expect; when you have a connection in an airport you’re unfamiliar with, surprises aren’t pleasant. Thanks for watching! Shane
