    In this new video series, we'll be looking at bad weapons in The Finals, looking into what makes them unusable, why they should be avoided, and then suggest ways to fix them. While this is done for fun, I'd love to get the discussion going to help Embark fix weapons and make them more competitively viable. In this video we'll look at the heavy's MGL32

    What do you think of the MGL32? Do you consider it bad, and if so, how would you fix the gun? - SongsOfRaze

      The MGL32 is not bad with the Goo Gun tell its hard countered by the mediums APS turret and players taking high ground with nothing to bounce off of but Goo can be used to solve most of it's problems. I fix it by using the Goo Gun to temporarily root and block line of sight of players which is an already in game feature that requires no changes to the game. The Goo Gun is a 20 mag skill shot specialization that has synergy with the MGL32, Flamethrower, and Sledgehammer. It's like the developers designed a game feature that can be used with another item to solve the problems they've created.
      I suggested to you guys to use the Goo Gun with the MGL and it seems there was a failure to figure it out by yourselves. Now there's a released video showing inexperience with the game's current mechanics that can get on the nerve's of the growing pro Goo meta heavy players. You guys are missing out. It's time to come to the TheFinals discord and talk with these players in the heavy build channel.

      I'd suggest a simple change. Change the secondary fire to that of right click made trajectory

    left click: like the medium launcher.
    right click: original fire with the bounce before detonation.

    That is the coolest idea I’ve ever heard for this game. Imagine breaking in sending 6 pyro nades everywhere. The utility would be so awesome

    Definitely should make it so you can get fire or gas grenade shells or even shells that explode on impact that you could buy for 400 or 800 VRS

    I use the MGL a lot and I do think its a bit underrated, and the change I would prefer is its damage multiplier to walls be 2x, so it would take 4 nades to bust a hole in a wall. Prob 2-3x for the Medium's Launcher, where it takes like 3-4 clips to bust a wall open.

    I like options 1 and 2 - 3 seems like a pain to both the player and enemies.
    My own alternative:
    Change the grenades so that they do not detonate at all. They simply arm on first bounce. Alt fire becomes detonate.
    This makes the grenade launcher more like the TF2 Demoman's sticky launcher. You can pile nades (I would put a stack limit of 6 or 12) into an area and then detonate them all at once when someone comes in. Or you can one bounce and detonate up close and once you get the cadence of LMB, RMB, LMB, RMB you can have a decent close range option as a heavy running this weapon.

      Cool idea! But they would need to make the nades visible. Like an outline or something. Also they should have a short lifetime

    2 things I would change (before I’ve watched the video)
    1st: fix grenades sticking to surfaces for a very short time before bouncing on higher pings
    2nd: give it some sort of alternate detonation method, either remote detonation or by having it detonate on impact with SPECIFICALLY players, but still bouncing on everything else.

      Crazy that we had exactly the same ideas for alternate detonation methods
      I’ve made these exact same suggestions in the discord a few times.

    Im a huge fan of this weapon and regularly get 10 to 12 kills and 10 to 12 assits a game. It is not an easy weapon to use and takes a Lot of positioning to make use of.
    I like all of your suggestions alt fire or different grenade types would be great

    I noticed that the grenades have a weird "soft homing" after a bounce. Granted the damage radius is really generous but it's pretty noticeable if you go into the practice range and go for bounces at different angles. A decent margin for error and the nades will somehow almost always hit you or the targets. It's a pretty unorthodox weapon to use but very fun if you manage to get into the right situations (like level ground and having stuff to bounce nades off of to abuse the homing). Being unable to fight back in a lot of situations hurts though, with the only saving graces being the shield or charge. Still, it being basically the only weapon that can hit people around corners is pretty strong. So I guess the glaring weaknesses for it are warranted.
    Direct hits on players would be cool, at least I can die faster when fighting close with that. Air-bursting or shooting duds/slugs would rule tho, I could see them delegating RMB for that since no one ads' with that thing. Actually, they should do that more often with weapons that don't have a functional ads. Just give us more alt firing stuff.

    Player impact explosion, and no damage fall off would be enough but I want to see more building destruction too. Some damage tweaking is also a good idea, I think every primary weapon in the game should be able to take out a heavy in one clip, so six good rounds on a heavy (without direct impact) should kill a heavy. 2-4-6 hits for light-medium-heavy sounds like a good balance. 1 shotting lights is cheese so 2 hits is fine, you can probably get 4 hits on mediums in a 1v1 before they kill you, and a good heavy will probably kill you before you hit 6 good shots on them, but you have the explosive utility.

    The gas grenade dmg tho is truly rediculous when you compare it to the pyro nade after i played with both of them lmao. The idea for this change was super interesting though I how embark really makes this game great because id rather spend my money on this game then any UBISOFT or EA game and im sure a lot of people can agree.

    I usually treat the MGL like a mid-long range weapons for certain maps such as Las Vegas Sandstorm, Skyway Stadium and Monaco where far range combat is favoured. Its excellent when you have the high ground and clearing trap filled rooms. I do agree on have the grenades blowing up when it hits an enemy directly but I think its a solid choice as long as you have height and range.

    I was even thinking that alt-fire could trigger the airburst for any grenades currently in flight. It would indirectly cause you to reduce your rate of fire as you time the remote detonation of each grenade. It would function as normal unless you choose to detonate early

    i would LOVE a deep look into V9S from you. i love the gun more than any other light weapon, though xp54 feels so much better in any scenario. good content, keep it up mate!

    IMHO: just switch double impact fuse to a short (!) delay-timed fuse. Like, 40 to 80m of path on most optimal arc when converted to distance - and it would book after that time regardless of what happens inbetween. Then, decrease ricochet speed by half (enough to stay in the room it was lobbed to, not enough to lob it there precisely knowing that it would nearly stick to wall it was shot at).
    That would retain its uniqueness as a game's only, unique non-direct hit-damaging weapon. But, at the same time, would greatly improve both skill floor (somewhat predictable behaviour, ability to spam room/window/zone indoors somewhat predictably unlike current random bouncy hell) and skill ceiling (airburst/instant explode capability with just right arc angle for a required distance on the open).

    the TF2 Demoman strat, movement, and environment awareness works great when it works, but its super cheesy, and sometimes the destruction it brings with C4 and explosive mine could play very well with, or against yourself, since this is The Finals. my favorite cheese is trolling enemy to chase me to tight corners where I put a mine+explo for almost 350 damage(if you're chased by CL40, good luck if it doesn't splash and activate your trap against you), or gas canister floor drop under the cashout, which I made into a base. The way it is currently is really funny weapon, as it makes bullshittery level high, specially if you can aim that bounce precisely under pressure, like say, hitting enemy APS, or just spamming a doorway or wall corner from very far. Add a goo gun to the mix for extra brain time

    I would think being able to switch with alt fire between bounce and direct impact nades would be a good change or just make the alt fire direct impact nades with maybe a damage nerf for the direct ones to make them less OP. Also just let it destroy more effectively for any change.

      Or just make it like demoman from TF2. Direct hits are instant, terrain hits are timed

    The MGL32 is fine in my opinion. The real issue with it is how much you need to actually train yourself to be able to perform better than just "fine" with it. You need to constantly position yourself where YOU have the advantage, and you not only need to keep check on where your enemies are, but also what enviroment you will be fighting in. If you find yourself in a bad position with sub-optimal enviroment to get good bounces for your grenades then you will 9/10 times lose your engagements unless your opponent is simply bad at aiming.
    But that's what i personally love about the weapon. It is by no means a meta weapon or should be taken into ranked in my opinion, but it is a perfect weapon if you easily get bored by the point-and-click scenarios that you usually get with the M60 and Lewis Gun. I've put a good 20+ hours into only playing the MGL32 and my results have improved by a lot, I even find myself starting out some matches with the Lewis Gun and simply swapping to the MGL32 because the current area where the cashout is might be a perfect enviroment for the MGL32.
    TLDR:
    It has a VERY high skill floor and a somewhat higher skill ceiling, but it is a lot of fun once you get the hang of it.

      Can definitely see your points here, and I do want to like the MGL32, but as you said it takes a lot of practice to get used to it and not a lot of people in the community are interested for investing that amount of time. It's a shame really, I hope it doesn't stay this way for the game's lifecycle, even if it's to make it more niche and have better destruction ability. Fingers crossed! - SongsOfRaze

      @@BabbleOn It's fine for weapons to be niche in my opinion, but I do agree that the alt-fire could be used to make the weapon just a bit more accessible. Even something simple as giving you an arc-outline like when you aim grenades would make the weapon far easier to use - or at the very least learn - for the run-of-the-mill player.

      OR you can use any other Heavy weapon and be AS GOOD or slightly better without any training and in all situations. Yeah, seems balanced.

    I think the gun is cool but it would be nice for the alt fire to lob a round like the alt fire of the grenade.

    I’d like to see one on the dagger but I has a few scenarios where it can actually be used pretty effectively yet the auto aiming is a huge problem for backstabbing

      The dagger one is definitely coming! I used to love it in the Closed Beta, but they nerfed it hard and with Cloak at the same time, so it's very difficult to land those hits now, real fall from grace! - SongsOfRaze

    Sorry, but heavies launching salvos of fire, gas, and flashbangs sounds like hell, lol. Besides, nobody gets everything on one weapon. It would be fun though.

    The grenade bounces and barely does any actual damage to the environment.
    If I unload a full magazine out of either grenade launchers;
    It should break a wall.

    If you do a video on the dagger I have one fix that might really improve it. I'm about 40k xp off the maxed out dagger skin so I know more or less what I'm talking about. What would really fix the dagger is increasing the backstabbing angle. The biggest problem is the inconsistency of backstabbing that really holds this weapon back and maki g it more forgiving to backstabbing would make it more viable against higher tier players.

      Couldn't agree more with you. The weapon is already hindered from being the worst weapon in the game if you don't land backstabs, and since cloak got nerfed from when dagger was supreme, it really is so difficult to get into the position for them. I don't have as much XP as you in the dagger but glad to see we're on the same page 😉 - SongsOfRaze

      @BabbleOn if I'm being honest, I think Riot Shield is worse than Dagger but I don't have any ideas to buff it since I dont use it. Another issue is, since trick stabbing with dash is pretty much knifes main tech, it becomes extremely ping dependent. Since you need to time the dash so the crit perfectly hits their back (probably only a 100ms window as you know) the little bit of varying delay on the dash really effects knife heavily. Plus or minus 50ms can be the difference of a crit or missing and death. I think reverting knife back to open beta munctionality, or just making right click instant with a cool down after instead of before, could really increase the viability of the weapon.

    I dont like the radical change
    It would probably be spammy and it doesnt help you a lot in normal fights (and it wont help you at all if its on cooldown)
    I like the explode on impact thing
    And i think manual detonation could work, though i have seen that go south in other games
    But perhaps because you need to space your grenades out more it would be fine?
    No way to know at the moment

    I wouldnt do the difrent types of grenades becouse haveing all grenades basicly would be way to overpowered even for a suport weapon
    I like the ult fire charge up for range then shoot, because it would keep tge fact the he his super valnrable at close range and have to keep that mid to long range distance, i say that becouse even tho a derict hit only on players would do slash damage the fice that yoyr direct hitting a light most of the time in close range, ocasonaly heavys, it would basicly only drop his health twice meaning since it takes 5 closest explosons to kill him, he would have above half health and would almost nelagate the down sides, meadium can do it close range with theirs abd they shrvive all the time so i would sugest ur second option

    I don't think it's bad, it's a skill cannon. A good comparison would be demo an from Tf2. He has a very steep learning curve, but a trained demoman will absolutely destroy an entire lobby from out of sight, by placing perfect bounce shots. Couple that with the destructability of the environment in the finals and this weapon takes complete areal control.

    I think the MGL32 needs to be a Specialization and retain everything it already is. That way you can kit out with an LMG as per usual and swap to the MGL (like you would the goo gun) and commence the barrage. Also thank you for addressing this. Im very concerned as it is my favorite weapon in the game and i have over 40 hours with it and very very little success.

      IMO, it should be a gadget like the RPG for destruction purposes. Smaller destructiveness, but still 6 shots
