    Rad videos, something I learned on those wire twists is that I always thought the end barrel twists are what held the connection tightest/strongest. After doing some pull testing I learned that the twists leading up to the barrel twists are what really hold the connection together. The barrel twists tend to slide on the mainline when loaded where as the twists before that are less likely to slide and stay in place. I say test it out some pull tests with a few more wraps before the barrel wraps and see. Also try it on some ligther wire as you wont have to pull as hard to see results.

    • @KeyWestWaterman
      @KeyWestWaterman  2 роки тому

      Yup! It will slide down like that. But I’ve never had one pop in my life… yet lol. Been tying those since i was a kid making stinger rigs for my dad. Over the years i slowly and subconsciously started removing the pretwist.

    Hey Aaron, very nice video as usual. I use close to the same set-ups in NE FL(16's 0n Terez's). What a few of us struggle with is the "proper" drag strike settings(procedures) and how to set it up(scale, feel specs, etc.), including the neutral knob "rule". Might be a tad involved but we'd certainly enjoy to see how you set up if you are willing to share. Thank You

    It's called fishing, not catching! We were just saying that Wednesday as we were sitting on the ice getting flags but no fish. Frigging crappie! Anyways, ended up getting a few fish eventually!

    It's called fishing, not catching for a reason :). I think that if you are a fisherman, days like this come naturally.

    Love the videos. Maybe Google haywire twist yourself.... first 3-7 twists need to be the wires twisting around each other then your barrel wrap so the knot doesn't slip

    • @KeyWestWaterman
      @KeyWestWaterman  2 роки тому +2

      yup, that's your standard haywire, I start mine tight. I've never had a single one in my life pop. but that's just me! like I said its not the right way just my way! thanks so much for watching!

      Was about to say the same thing. I totally understand "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but please hear me out... next time you're chillin with the boys, having a brew or two, bust out a coil of wire and two screwdrivers for grips, and have a tug of war style knot contest. Haywire vs. Barrel wraps. We used to do this on slow days at the tackle shop and the look on people's faces when those barrel wraps came unrolled at ~50% breaking strength was priceless. Not trying to be an internet know-it-all, just returning the favor for all the free knowledge you've dropped for the community. Anyways, love your stuff man, much respect for living the dream.
