  • The fall season in the Bahamas and South Florida is the time when many anglers break out their high speed lures to target one of the fastest fish in the ocean! Wahoo can easily eclipse speeds of more than 60mph, so while trolling a lure at 16 to 18 knots, may seem too fast for many, it's really a light jogging pace for wahoo and it's an effective way to eliminate bites from non-targeted species when anglers are looking to focus exclusively on wahoo. In this video, we cover the terminal gear used to assemble the most proven high speed wahoo lure over decades of wahoo fishing and we also take you through the steps involved to give you all the information you need to build your own wahoo rigs and go catch them yourself. Enjoy the free education! If you like what you see, do us a favor and give us a subscribe. We bring fresh new content to the channel every week! For your convenience, we've also provided a detailed list below of the terminal gear used to build the wahoo rigs.

      A 16oz to 48oz cigar lead is the way to go with a 40 foot shock leader that attaches to the lure. 250 pound on the shock leader

    This talking part is too much. Y can't you just show the inch or cm and hook size in a text box?
    If you make that video to 7 - 9 minutes. The audience will be more.

    Beginner here. What would the rest of the rig be? Mainline? You mentioned shock line? Pole? Reel? Etc.
    Is this pulled without a trolling weight? Hook up and go? Thank you for sharing.

      Shock leader is 250 to 300 pounds and usually about 50 feet long with a snap swivel on each end. Rod & reel combos are in the 50/80 lb class. If you can afford an LP electric reel there is no better. Trolling leads are usually 16 to 60 ounces with heavier leads fished closer to boat and lighter leads further from the boat.

      @@fishbluewater so you are hand lining the fish to the boat after retrieving the weights? Thank you for the reply.

      Yes you handline from the weight to the fish

    Can these be run without a heavy lead up the line ?

      They can but they will track just under the surface of the water depending on speed. You would want to fish it much further back if so. I would consider adding more egg sinkers between the hook set and the skirt for added weight if you did that

      Deer hide behind trees and grass while eating berries made out of 6.5 Grendel while wearing Kevlar vest waiting for all 10 round clips to be ejected by M1A so it can blow the lung out of the chest, not a joke.

    I seriously love it when fishing people talk about tackle. You could probably throw a trash bag down there with some hooks on it and they bite it this ain’t like rocket science

    • @fishbluewater
      @fishbluewater  Рік тому

      Troll your garbage bag on one rod and this lure set up on another rod and see which one gets more wahoo bites

      @@fishbluewater well in all seriousness if you put a little more effort in and grabbed some fork handles and put a hook on them I seriosuly bet it would be as or more effective. The lures are for us fish can’t see good
