You guys have one of the very few vids that addresses this issue... And are an awesome help as I've been searching my butt off for this. I used to be able to do full range squats even with displastic hips until I became mostly sedentary due to longer hours on night shift. Obviously picking up weight and strength loss have severly impacted range of motion. Thanks so much guys. 5 years later and you're still helping people with this awesome vid!
Thank you very much! After suffering of hips, patella and heel/plantar fasciatis on my left for a few years I recently got an x-ray done and was diagnosed with "potential" hip dysplasia and mild arthritis which finally confirmed my suspicions something was different on that side. All my symptoms pretty much vanished after I started doing glute bridges and squats (Making sure to keep the left knee from kicking in) and general lower body work to rebalance things. (been playing hockey all my life so probably quite quad dominant on top of that). Anyways, I'm glad to hear I'm on the right path. Keep up the excellent work! Stephane
@@rosaferrigno4449 It wasn't diagnosed any further. Turns out a lot of my problems were caused by my (really bad) golf swing... But a life of sitting for work also doesn't help and as such moving around more and keeping my glutes and piriformis muscles toned has really helped keep things in check.
Tammy Smith hi Tammy! Thanks for asking the question because I’ve only just found out that I have hip dysplasia (after wondering what was wrong for so long!) my doctor or physio don’t really care (and I’ve not had an appointment yet since my results even though I tried r get one ASAP!) in the mean time the only thing I could find was to do hip abduction lying on your side and also hip circles lying on your back and just drawing circles with your foot. how is your hip doing? x
People be grateful if you have good hips! I was pushed myself to my limit and wrecked my bodies anatomy. I have a hip impingement and torn labrum and arthritis in my hip from hip dysplasia and I tore it like 3 years ago, I got a cortisone shot it helps alot but I still have pain if I get up suddenly or hop into my car quickly, I cannot hike or jog, I have completely fallen on the floor from the pain one time when I reached for my drink on the coffee table...Im only a 26 yr old female...FML I over-worked my body and basically at my job I tore the labrum ligament or whatever moving stuff up the stairs. Stupid. Now Ill need a hip replacment. If I dont excercise and do yoga stretches every day then I can hardly move my leg to walk up stairs and it hurts like hell, doctors please save my hip ....
Great video, definitely agree that exercise should be incorporated in order to strengthen the hip muscles and reduce pain. However, what I noticed is that you talked about performing more heavy exercises like squats when you've done the easy ones. Unfortunately, from my own experience, such form of exercise causes pain because of the angle the hip has to be in and the pressure that's caused by maybe using heavy weights.
I’m on FAI fix what’s exercises to help put back the femoral head to my hip socket? I felt like its out a little bit because when I felt my hip bones it’s different from other side. The one on left which has FAI and labrum tear it sticking out and the other side was not. And painful on the outer side of my hips down to femur shaft. I try the hip centration already but cause more pain. Thanks Matt
I have a hip condition in both hips called perths disease and have had 13 hip operations to try to correct it which has left the hips weak,(left worse than the right) up until recently i worked in a care home, moving about sucked but i still worked but over the last couple weeks I have had to give up my job and start using a stick to walk as the pain has become unbearable and I'm at risk of falls because of my hips. I can't lift my leg up from the front not without assistance and can't bend down or squat, have you any suggestions on hip exercises to help with pain?
Thank you for this video I have hip dysplasia and because of more problem with my heart and lungs I can't get a hip replacement but my legs are so weak I really need to do some exercise thank you again guys 😘😘😘
Absolutely horrible advice, and would be absolutely detrimental for hip dysplasia. Stretching adductor would put significant pressure in the hip joint, and glute bridges would do the exact same thing. You need to do non weight bearing exercises for the glutes such as laying down glute squeezes. Please be more aware of the advice you give as this would only progress the deterioration of the hip Source: Years of severe hip dysplasia and doctors who specialize in hip dysplasia
I have the same issues. I have hip dysplasia and I CANNOT squat without a glute band around my knees. It's the only way I can keep my legs from coming in. If I don't, my groin muscles get strained and it actually ends up hurting alot and I cannot continue the workout

Hi ! Do you know if they detected a dysplasia angle below 25°?
How is it going with your hips? Do the exercises still help?

thanks Matt you are my hero ;)
Hello doctor sorry is it possible to relocate and reduct dislocated hip by physiotherapy?
I don’t think so because if you have hip dysplasia, I believe the socket is shallow
I feel like that girl you are describing is..me.Exact same issues.
reddaB me too! How’s your hip?

Can you be more specific about laying down glute squeezes what exactly is that? Are there any other ones you do that help?
