    English:
    After 2 years of development, we are very happy ad proud to present our DIY ping pong robot UHTTR-1, which is currently only able to play in passive mode.
    Its a coincidence that the german company Kuka released a similar concept at the same time in relation with the german professional tabletennis player Timo Boll. We are also very excited about their ping pong robot and the concept that stands behind it.
    For more information to the development of our UHTTR-1, please visit my blog: ulfhoffmannroboter.wordpress.com

    We're finally reaching the point where most people can't tell the difference between CGI and real life.

      Just like a couple of years ago when we reached the point where people think artificial flavours taste more real than flavours from actual fruits and vegetables.

    At first I thought this was real but towards the end I noticed that the movements seemed a bit unnatural, it moved too fast, and stopped too suddenly. Very well done though, and a great concept I think something like this would be awesome if it were real.

    • @garthhh
      @garthhh 10 років тому +3

      I don't doubt that its possible. You'd probably just need a massive budget and much more sophisticated equipment than that.

    • @BrazenPhrasin
      @BrazenPhrasin 10 років тому

      pretty sure that unnaturalness comes from the unusual clarity of the video

    • @jhhwild
      @jhhwild 10 років тому

      garthhh It might be something interesting to try to see if its possible, it would definitely be a challenge but it's pretty incredible what people have been able to figure out when it comes to robotics.

    • @jhhwild
      @jhhwild 10 років тому

      Dominatro92 There are little subtle things that indicate that it isn't quite real, I mean it's really well done but something just tells me in my brain that it isn't natural.

    If you watch it at 720p.
    Don't look at the artifacts on the garage door from the cables on the hand, when it is moving from left to right from 0:03 - 0:09.
    Don't look at the blur on the lower half of the garage door.
    Don't look at the smudge and blur on the left shadow from the leg, middle of the net, and on the wall at the right end of the net from 0:44
    Maybe a little too much reflection for the robot on the table?
    But, keep up the great work. I mean 4320 frames is a huge number and the product is amazing.

      @@davidproweb Do you understand camera exposure time can make that too? The Camera sensors integrate all the intensities received in the exposure time. It could be a compression artifact too. So this is not a solid proof. A blur image while taking a picture doesn't make the picture fake.

  • @JumboFPS
    @JumboFPS 10 років тому +12

    Yes, this is fake. I have reviewed the video for a few minutes and it has become very clear. Here is the evidence.
    The computer screen is an overlay. The quality of the screen is poor. The OS as well as the software itself is very strange. Specifically the software. It is far to responsive and has options that make little sense. Someone creating a project like this does not go through the time to create such a user friendly interface also.
    During the close up, the quality of the robot does not match up with the raw footage. The robot is pure CGI.
    Also, at one point a few frames drop. To many its just some minor error. But believe me, I have worked with motion tracking animation and when a few frames dont track perfectly you may just drop the frames to prevent from re-rendering or tracking. This obviously is only happens with low budget type videos like we see here.
    The Animation is well done, but to someone with animation experience like myself, its pretty clear that its not a physical object.
    Oh yeah, if you dont believe me, just look at his other videos. Specifically the first one. That is even more obvious, In that video the rig moves way to quickly for any actual rail set robot and the motion blur is set to high.

      idk man , idk dont think its fake, they made one in japan that used a high speed camera that reacted within 20 milliseconds !! O.O it wood beat anyone at rock,papper,scissors ( look up Janken Robot ) .... and this looks fairly thought out on his blog.. thingy... here

    Seems fake to me, the guy probably just played against a blue wall (chroma key) and the robot seems to be a 3D animation that was added later, plus you can notice its perspective doesn't change in relation to its position in the table. And I don't see the robot's cable moving anytime.
