This is my first ferris. This is my first stand on. This is my first year in business. I had no idea what to look out for. I had to go buy another Z3X 52” just to keep up with my customers.
Go direct to Ferris and complain. Show them this video. The dealer won’t answer to you but they will absolutely answer to their big brother named Ferris
Call Ferris and raise hell. This is unacceptable. I bought a Bob cat and they brought it out,I notice the big Bob cat decal was almost all gone. I made the guy aware and I called the dealer and he said it would be 26.00. I said that’s bs,bottom line, they did not get me a new decal. Little things make or break a dealer. In your case, that’s a big thing. I hope you get this resolved.

I've been a ferris dealer for 28 years I'm so sorry for what you had to go with on your purchase I also see something else that your dealer did not do he did not fill the hydro Reservoirs halfway mark and it's hard to tell what else he did not do and also in all the years I've sold ferris I have not seen them with missing parts so I think the dealer took the adjuster bracket off the deck to use on another mower sorry to hear about your experience with that dealer I feel the dealer took advantage of you
I actually sort of had the same issue with another dealer i bought my second ferris from But the second dealer told me to my face they did not level the deck. So I leveled it myself and the same spot that was messed up on the first mower was lose on the second.
Agree with jardino79. My FW15's height adjustment was out of alignment and the pins wouldn't set in the hole. Dealer didn't want to help. Ferris customer service was great and forced the issue with the dealership. I wouldn't go to that dealer again for anything, but Ferris stood behind their product for me.
I am sorry you had a bad experience. Like Pete said that there were others issues as well. My suggestion would be to contact Ferris warranty department to see what they can do for you. Kenneth also had a good suggestion if your are mechanical was to find the lacking parts doing a google parts look-up on your machine, ordering the parts online and getting it fixed so that you will not continue to loose work. My guess is that the parts needed are on backorder and the dealer instead took it off your machine to get another customer machine fixed. I did a quick parts lookup on the 52" deck and this is what I came up with: Ferris 5105582 SPRING, COMPRESSION, $6.00 & A Ferris 5025158 WASHER, 1/2 SAE $4.00
I live north of Nashville myself and did some research to purchase a Ferris mower, and did some checking on the local dealers. Midstate came up first-not because of them being a dealer, but because of the crazy amount of bad reviews. Same type of problem you have-Zero customer service, rude, etc…pretty bad. I bought mine through Dickens Turf and Landscape and they have been stellar to deal with. I got an ISX800. Love it.
I take my IZ700 to my local dealer because it will not start, it has a brand new starter, battery, solioid, all safety switches have been replaced except the seat switch. I get a call a call saying it needs a new alternator and all new battery cables and another solinoid. James River Equipment in Middlesex VA charged me $450.00. I get it home and it turns out it was just a $12.00 seat switch!
Avoid that dealer, check. This is highlighting the importance of doing a pick-up-inspection. Thanks for sharing and pointing this out. Doing a video on that would be helpful as well. This would have gotten past me too had i not known to look.
That’s a bummer that happened to you. I agree with the other person that said you need to order the parts you need and get back to making ROI. I also think it speaks volumes that there is no local dealers that sell Ferris in your area; 15k is kinda high. Lastly to be losing $500 a week for one job I hope you have other mowers. Good luck with your season.
A local shop pieces back together while we’re waiting on parts. I just don’t wanna have to buy a brand new tire for a brand new machine. It should be covered under warranty. So I’m just waiting for that. But yeah, no local ferris dealer is kind of a joke. But corporate ferris is trying to rest of them.
@@rewardlawnmaintenance Good luck sir, Ferris was bought out by B&S and since they bought out other brands the brands have suffered, they bought Simplicity & Snapper & ran them into the ground.
I would not have a clue what to look for on a mower like that, We consumers place trust in dealers they are qualified at preparing a mower for sale, I wish you the best at getting this resolved
@@rewardlawnmaintenance Dude, you did nothing wrong. You bought a brand new very expensive piece of equipment that was not prepared properly by the dealer.
Very same thing happened to me!! Very same mower! One side, then the other. I also hear a “clank” in mine. Got ours in Elettsville, Indiana. Richard’s small engines! They fixed it both times, no problem. Unfortunately, sounds like the place you went doesn’t value their customers. Wish you luck sir. Like I said, watch for it on the other side. 6/8/23-Lost all power to my controls. 190hrs on the mower. That’s after the pto (of course) and both sides of the deck bolts, just fell off.
My 52” Z3X was lose as well when I got it. I bought the 52” after the 60. Luckily I caught it and I fixed it. I did talk to a few ferris reps. They were going to talk to the assembly people
My late father always double, triple checked machinery when he bought them, even bringing spanners with him to check if the nuts were tight. After a 2 or 3 days of work with the machine, he would wash it down and check every nut and bolt. We now do the same and you would be surprised as to how many bolts are lose especially after a few days.
I went to get a z3x and they said i had to order one and who knows when it would be in and ready to go. I couldn't wait, so i went with Wright. Amazing mowers, incredible cut quality and a lot smoother controls, the ride is comparable with the ferris probably slightly edging out the Wright.
I've been shopping, so when I get the chance, I ask lawn guys how they like their equipment. Usually I catch them fueling up at a gas station, and sometimes even when they're on their job site. Anyway, every Wright owner I've talked to, swears by their Wright equipment. At least the ones running the standers. Haven't inquired on the sit down mowers.
Sorry to hear about your issues. Honestly would get rid of it while she's nice and shiny. They sold you the Vanguard EFI motor too.. check out the recall list to see if you model is on there.
Ferris has to work on their dealers big time. I switched to deere years ago because our local ag pro just absolutely blows away all of the Ferris dealers within a 2 hour radius. When I needed a simple pulley years ago somehow some way not a single one of them had it or even had a comparable mower to pull one off of so I could get back to work. 2 months I was without a part. I had to go directly to Ferris to source the part and even calling Ferris directly I had to call multiple times until I got lucky and one good person went to look at what they had there and wouldn’t you know they had tons of pullies sitting right there I could have had the whole time. I recently wanted to switch. Back to Ferris but calling some of these same people I’ve been told it’s not even possible to get a 61 inch or 72 inch z3 for like 3 months but I’m seeing videos once a week of people getting them….when I need a deere that my dealer doesn’t have they’ve literally driven 3 hours to get one from another dealer for me(and that was a 36 inch mower at that) and they drove out to work on the machines or pick them up if I can’t drop off for some reason. Totally different experience. I want to support a mom and pop but mom and pop certain don’t want to return the favor haha 😂
Dealer support for ferris is trash. Ferris them selves are definitely trying to help me. That’s why I drove 3.5 hours to a dealer. Only some dealers are willing to order machines or take a deposit on a machine.
this is why dealer support is the number one thing when buying a mower.... I also try to buy close to me even if I pay 1 grand or even 2 grand more for the mowers because of dealer support. I have had many of problems with new mowers my dealer has always taken care of me. Sorry to hear that your dealer didn't.
my ferris is700z first time mowing spit the blade and bolt out, dinged the blades up, i think its just the dealers and techs been getting sloppy, Found a dealer local to me tho thats been top tier now, best of luck to you, these are great machines yet, dont let it deter you away from them, finding the right dealer is definitely more important than the machine itself
I just got the same mower last fall with a 61” deck. My eyebolt came off but was not missing. Was able to fix it on the spot. Must have not beeen tightened from factory 🤷♂️.
At 4 hrs away i would find closest dealer ask nicely for their help. See if i could get them to overnight dropship the parts and put it together. My dealer is only an hr away and something that small i would be fixing myself for sure and fast.
When dealers don't care this is what you get. You could spend twice as much and still be stuck with the same problem. I purchased a new John Deer, it had a recall and the tech damaged the wiring harness. The dealer refused to admit damaging my tractor, it had less than one hour on the clock. I fill your frustration!
I bought an exmark 30" to finish the season but didn't get to use it do to bad weather. The following spring I am trying to get it ready and try to engage the blades. Something came loose while in storage ( not sure how that happened). I left it at the dealer for three weeks. I took it home used it for a week and the belts were loose again. I followed the manual to see how I could tighten and found a mounting bolt missing and and the other bolts loose. I was very unhappy with exmark and the dealership.
I hate to hear stories like this 😒 We own 5 Ferris mowers and we love their product. It's a shame stuff like this happens and ruins the good name for Ferris. Our last 2 mowers we purchased were from a dealer in Texarkana this year ( GREAT DEALER BTW ) but, it was also 4 hours away. That dealer was the only one who actually had mowers in stock and wasn't trying to price gouge customers. The mower we bought last year was a few hours away as well. We had some issues with that mower . The right caster bearing seized up on us and wheel would not spin freely. Had to go to our closet Ferris dealer to fix it. The caster didn't have a lick of grease in it 🤦I'd go over all your grease points if I were you. Good luck 🤞
Unfortunately with inventory so low we have to travel and the manufacturers being short on employees it’s having a hard time as well. I give ferris credit for trying to help.
No way in Sam hell I would turn down $700 a week in work over a broken bolt. I would have take in back and had them fix it. Or I would have fixed it myself. Making that kind of money I would have a spare mower. I just bought the same mower with a fx851 Kawasaki. It's a beautiful mower and lays down some beautiful stripes.
Man thats tough. There are so many scummy dealerships and they probably made a killing yet cant even look out for their customers. If they even lose just one sale from this at least theres some karma. Nothing can make up for how badly your business was damaged, but hopefully people will be aware
I had the same issue with a IS700, plus a few more issues. The spindles burned up within the first 50 hours and had to be replaced. Ferris refused to cover it under warranty. I asked the dealer why it was not delivered fully prepped, and how much grease should there have been. They had no idea, and I was told there sealed bearings so should not even need to be, greased! If they did not need not need any grease then why are there grease fittings?
The most important thing is buying new equipment is the dealer what type of reputation they have forget about saving a buck make sure the dealer you go with is excellent it’ll save you a lot of aggravation
Local dealer near me, well let me start from an earlier time, a local landscaper I do work for, had pto issues on his snapper pro 50, only had 120hrs on it, the problem was everytime he'd pull it off his old crappy trailer a piece of the metal would hit the pto, and mess the wiring up, so I fixed it quite a few times, and he thought it was my, his words not mine crappy works, which it was not, it was his trailer, so he took it to a pro shop, at the height of covid, the young kid working there, didn't know his arse from a hole in the ground, and taking the pto clutch off, had the impact in forward, and snapped the bolt off in the crank shaft, in a 27hp vanguard briggs, so the owner told my buddy, what happend, and said the crankshaft was 800.00 plus labor, first off it was your worker who broke it off, so they should of replaced it, but no make the customer pay it right, pro shops suck anymore, so long story long, the guy gave the snapper pro 50 to me, and it's mine now, I cut the crankshaft, 1/16th and extracted the bolt, and now works like new. Pro shops, and dealers, are only in it for money, they don't care about the customer, oh and another funny thing, they were going to charge him 300 for storage fees.... LMAO
@Reward Lawn Maintenance when I wanted to buy my Z3x, they had just come out and not one dealer in my area knew they existed. Talk about not knowing a product line. I called Briggs, they said someone would call me back. That day, my local rep called me and took excellent care of me. I've since had the dealer I bought from drop the ball on warranty, but I figured things out and I just won't use them in the future.
Unfortunately, it’s extremely hard to find anything in stock. So it’s almost impossible to find dealer support because a good dealer never has anything in stock.
@@rewardlawnmaintenance I was a small Bad Boy dealer in a small city and sold them for over 15 years. Great mower, great company. Check them out. Wishing you the best of luck.
Actually dickens would not sell me a ferris. All they wanted to do was sell me a wright. I tried to order from every dickens location they told me no. I actually called ferris and complained about it.
I couldn't get myself to buy equipment from a dealer far away. I know you have to do it when you have no other options. The company should be able to help you somehow. 15 thousand dollars is too much for me to spend. I got a 34 inch Hustler Super S. Kansas makes them. I'm in Kansas. 5 thousand dollars no interest is a great deal couldn't resist. Best of luck. Keep us informed. Wish I could help you. .
Does either one of those dealers you mentioned have the part that you can install yourself? Just saying. Maybe you could get up and running faster this way.
Me I had to deal with a co. That was also so dishonest so I dicided to write down my experience on the BBB website and that seemed to change everything:they refunded me the money owed! When I was working for Domino's pizza the policy of the store was: in case of a problem with a custumer how could we make it right or make it up to the custumer? That seems the right way to behave for a business. Also I can usually get good results by going to the top of the co. But first you can have a talk with the owner of the dealership and tell them that in the same way , in case they insist on treating you dishonestly bad things can happen to them to like they can get a phone call from the Ferris headquarters. Actually the person there should be fired!
Yeah dude you were looking again. I see the bolts in right there. What is it? Gotta do a straw back in he gets a spring the washer. Can you make it a big deal out of it oh my God.
Being that the tire is chewed up. Blades bad and paint wore off on a brand new deck. Yeah it’s a big deal. But you seem to be a rich man so I’m glad that’s cool for you.
@@rewardlawnmaintenance call the Corporate Office and file a complaint with them tell them the dealer was very rude to you gotta put them all spice into so when you call corporate office tell them they used foul language
Any big purchase I buy I always look for the dealer with the highest customer service rating. I traveled one hour to buy my Truck literally passing about a dozen dealers just to go to a dealer who had multiple best service awards. I will never ever shop by price, just reputation.
The situation sucks fosho. I know you shouldn't have to do this, but getting the part from Ferris and installing it yourself might be the most economical solution as opposed to driving 1-4 hours to drop it off then make same drive to pick it up. Sucks to high hell for sure
If it wasn’t 4 hours away I would have. The local dealer is trying their best to help. Ferris reps are trying as well to help me out. So I definitely give ferris credit
My friend takes his riding tractor in for an oil change they drain the oil out put the new filter on but forgot to put the oil in show the mechanic drives around in the parking lot and it seized up and even breaks the connecting rod in two they don't even call him for several days Stone image lawn mowers blown up he comes in to find out what happened, informing him that engine blow up so the mechanic doesn't tell the boss you forgot to put oil in it! They say it's his fault showing him a brand new engine that they blew up.
@@rewardlawnmaintenance Or exmark. My aunt and uncle bought one 15 year ago to mow a 10 acre plot that they owned. They run that mower hard as hell and it's still going strong. I think it now has 1.2 million hours on it.
The only issue I have had with mine is the harness on the clutch. They turn the wires right away in the design and the wires fall out. My dealer charged me even though it should have been under warranty.
But I must state. I absolutely love this mower. I have mowed up to 40-45 degree hills and feel safe. The other downfall is all the grease points but that is a plus at the same time. And the Z3X doesn’t have a bagging system for it. But I believe just like any tool it has its place in a fleet. Highly productive with a great cut. I also use Grass Flap for chute blocker as your hands are needed to steer. If I could only afford one mower I would start with a Z2 as it at least allows a bagging system. I absolutely love the Vanguard engines I have 33HP and it never bogs down. And your dealer sucks! Dealer support should be one of the biggest factors in deciding your brand.
This is why you have a back up if you owned this mower for a couple years and it broken down you would be losing said cost regardless, also also the reason you buy locally this 4 hour drive one way each time is pretty dumb Mistake especially when you Could have gone the the closer one as you pointed out. But aside from all that bad judgement you state you can see it in the pictures so you have a time date on them call Ferris which should have been the same day you had this issue and get them fix the machine. Live and learn I’m sure you Won’t make this mistake again. Give them shit! All the best brother!
Assuming a lot is also a problem. This is my first year in business and no other local dealer would order what I wanted. Come to find out the only local stopped selling equipment this year. I did go buy a second new ferris the week after this happened. My other other mower at the time was a 48” walk behind. Doing several acres a day with that got to be a little hard
We have Ferris ZX2 52", great mower. At first the mower was down multiple times, but credit to dealer for a loaner. However, every time the dealer touched it something broke or was loose. So we go to dealer to buy a ZX3, nothing in stock and dealer tries to sell us a competitor zero turn for just shy of 20k!!?? The exact same mower other local dealers had a 12 - 13k!!!! We are now looking for a new dealer /brand, sorry Ferris.
Sucks, but given your circumstances- fix it yourself- you can do it. I own a Ferris ZTM- happy so far, had a couple of small issues and fixed myself. I live 1 hr. away from dealer. Before you use your mower (any mower) - EVERY TIME, look it over, especially the mower deck suspension!! That is for any large mower. These are complex machines. Other red flag is that you had to go 4 hrs. away to pick it up. My dealer delivered to my house for free in one day.
I was stir up a deal with Ferris and I wud order the bolt and spring and maybe a new blade and fix it myself like 30 min and be done with it, not loose two weeks of waiting on shit. Roll on
@@rewardlawnmaintenance yea but it’s still run able just fine if you fix that deck sitting crooked and by that time you can stir up enough shit with Ferris corporate or the regional manager who’s prolly actually your best bet honestly. So to keep you from being dead in the water, with a badass new mower but with a quirk, I wud get it back mowing with little effort and make Ferris pay ya for a tire and install and get you a gift card or something for the bullshit. But you going 8hr Round trip is out the question, hopefully you get it sorted out bossman. I run both Ferris and exmark mowers and lucky have had decent luck but at times I’ve had to fix my own little shit that happens cause same thing are running behind or not a priority or whatever

My neighbors Ferris Dealer screwed him too !! He sold my neighbor 72 inch wide bucket of nuts and bolts ! My neighbor says he spends more time having it worked on . You need to call the manufacturer and tell them and the way the dealer treated you and believe me they will be at your door picking it up or fixing it at your place
Wow. Totally unbelievable. We would have fixed it while you waited if we had just sold it to you, and filed a warranty claim. That's just one way in which we keep customers loyal and have earned the reputation we have. We have noticed that across the board, manufacturers are having assembly issues, seems your unit was a victim. I'm just shocked by how you were treated. Warranty is there for a reason, and it's a factor in buying anything. That's a simple fix, and even if it wasn't warranty we would eat it.
I have owned Ferris mower since 2019 have gotten great service I love it bought it from a reputable reputabl dealer in and Pineville North Carolina it's not Ferris fault it's the company you done business with when you bought it they just lied to you I would advertise that company as being one not to deal with I would call Ferris and complain about that problem I can imagine you're upset on a $15,000 mower you're more calm about it then I would be good luck.
At this point I think your best plan of action is just to order the eye bolt, spring, etc., and fix it yourself ASAP, if you have enough mechanical ability to do that. The cost of those parts can't be that high. Once you have the part numbers, search the internet for price. It's a shame that dealer screwed you like that, but you need to get that mower working again.
I found a dealer to fix it. The did a temporary fix for me. The spring is back ordered so bad no one sells it. I still need a new tire though, that’s definitely not something I should pay for
On z3 mowers the deck lift is mounted to the front axel. As the wheel moves up and down the deck follows. 52" mower no scalp wheel on the rf. I have z2's, only wish I could afford a z3.

I know what to look for now. This is my first ferris and my first stand on. How would I honestly know what to look for ?
@@rewardlawnmaintenance Dude, you did nothing wrong. You bought a brand new very expensive piece of equipment that was not prepared properly by the dealer.
@@airplanedude419 I can’t believe the dealer won’t take ownership of the mistake
They were going to talk to the assembly people
@@rewardlawnmaintenance good. I scalped a stripe on one of my properties, because I didn’t notice it until I turned to go back the other way lol.
It’s a new machine I’ve never been around. Not sure how I would know what to check
I went to get a z3x and they said i had to order one and who knows when it would be in and ready to go. I couldn't wait, so i went with Wright. Amazing mowers, incredible cut quality and a lot smoother controls, the ride is comparable with the ferris probably slightly edging out the Wright.
I had the same issue getting the Ferris. The oil guard was very important to me that’s why I waited
@@rewardlawnmaintenance "Oil Guard" as in some monitoring system? Is it that difficult to top-off a lawn mower?

@@rewardlawnmaintenance Not for long, you won't... Especially the EFI.
Sorry too hear about this plz up date on this situation
It took about a month and a half but a few ferris reps and a local deal took care of me. Ferris did try to fix what the dealer messed up.
this is why dealer support is the number one thing when buying a mower.... I also try to buy close to me even if I pay 1 grand or even 2 grand more for the mowers because of dealer support. I have had many of problems with new mowers my dealer has always taken care of me. Sorry to hear that your dealer didn't.
I do agree with you. The problem is no one around me was willing to get what I wanted

Unfortunately I for a decent dealer. Now they are closing lol
I just got the same mower last fall with a 61” deck. My eyebolt came off but was not missing. Was able to fix it on the spot. Must have not beeen tightened from factory 🤷♂️.
I bought a 52” while this was in the shop. It was lose also

It’s hard to believe dealers stay in business when they treat people like that
I bought an exmark 30" to finish the season but didn't get to use it do to bad weather.
It’s crazy how dealers can be so crappy. It can’t take a trained mechanic that long to go over a mower before they sell it.
I hate to hear stories like this 😒 We own 5 Ferris mowers and we love their product. It's a shame stuff like this happens and ruins the good name for Ferris. Our last 2 mowers we purchased were from a dealer in Texarkana this year
( GREAT DEALER BTW ) but, it was also 4 hours away.
I went and got a new 52” Z3X as a back up.
Thanks for the heads up I will not buy a Ferris after seeing your video. Sorry this stuff happens to good hardworking people.
Ferris is amazing. The dealer is the problem
Man thats tough. There are so many scummy dealerships and they probably made a killing yet cant even look out for their customers. If they even lose just one sale from this at least theres some karma. Nothing can make up for how badly your business was damaged, but hopefully people will be aware
Thank you. I hope someone gets help from this.
I had a good experience with Master Mowers in Marietta, Georgia, on an ISX3300, and they delivered it.
I actually went and picked up a 52” Z3X from them while this was on the shop.
I live in Tennessee and 3 of my 4 mowers I've bought from out of state, Maryland, Illinois and Arkansas
I’m around knox. Nothing around here at all. If you find a mower it has a tiny engine on it.
I baught a Scag Tigercat 2 from them two years. So far no issues with the mower.
That’s awesome. I’m glad it’s going good for you.
I just got a scag cheetah 2 and love it also have a turf tiger 2 and an older cheetah and honestly would never buy anything but orange
From all my research this mower is supposed to be really good on hills. I wanted a stand on so I can fit more on my trailer as well.
I think I will probably just go get the partsYou need and install them myself and get to mowing
I don’t want to have to pay for a new tire though. Also I can’t get the parts. They are on extreme back order
Wow - terrible situation.

Yeah took over a month to fix it all
The most important thing is buying new equipment is the dealer what type of reputation they have forget about saving a buck make sure the dealer you go with is excellent it’ll save you a lot of aggravation
Ferris reps recommended them to me
Local dealer near me, well let me start from an earlier time, a local landscaper I do work for, had pto issues on his snapper pro 50, only had 120hrs on it, the problem was everytime he'd pull it off his old crappy trailer a piece of the metal would hit the pto, and mess the wiring up, so I fixed it quite a few times, and he thought it was my, his words not mine crappy works, which it was not, it was his trailer, so he took it to a pro shop, at the height of covid, the young kid working there, didn't know his arse from a hole in the ground, and taking the pto clutch off, had the impact in forward, and snapped the bolt off in the crank shaft, in a 27hp vanguard briggs, so the owner told my buddy, what happend, and said the crankshaft was 800.00 plus labor, first off it was your worker who broke it off, so they should of replaced it, but no make the customer pay it right, pro shops suck anymore, so long story long, the guy gave the snapper pro 50 to me, and it's mine now, I cut the crankshaft, 1/16th and extracted the bolt, and now works like new. Pro shops, and dealers, are only in it for money, they don't care about the customer, oh and another funny thing, they were going to charge him 300 for storage fees.... LMAO
That’s insane
Should have went to SLE machines on Murfreesboro Dr Nashville. Great selection and good service.
They didn’t have what I needed.
Ferris has never given me the warm and fuzzies... even with all the hype.

I 100% Blame the dealer. Once I talked to a few ferris reps they did everything they could to help me. I do like ferris as a company
I still need a new tire though, that’s definitely not something I should pay for
Could be wrong but looks like ur missing a scalp wheel in the front of the deck too.
I thought the same but I’m not. The caster would hit it if it has a wheel.
On z3 mowers the deck lift is mounted to the front axel. As the wheel moves up and down the deck follows. 52" mower no scalp wheel on the rf. I have z2's, only wish I could afford a z3.
