I like the idea of using shingles as shims!!
Thank you! Me too, the shims that are normally used for doors are fine but they're small and don't leave much room for error. These make the job a lot easier for me and who doesn't love the smell of cedar shingles. Thank for watching!

Screws right in the jam, how about Brad nails. Or penny nails easy to fill and paint.
That's a great point, brad nails would probably be strong enough, finish nails would definitely do the trick. If I was installing a door with a pine jamb I would have gone with finish nails but a white jamb is easy to fill and paint over so I decided to go with screws and the extra strength they provide. I went with about 4 screws on each side and another 2 in the top, this should give me plenty or strength but more screws wouldn't hurt at all. Thanks so much for watching!
I was thinking just to get new doors to put on my existing frames because it seemed cheaper than getting a prehung door. If your walls had already had the framing in place... would you have done the same thing or would you suggest just removing the old Framing and getting pre-hung?
Great question! Your thinking is exactly right. In your case buying door slabs is the way to go. Cheaper and way easier. One thing to keep in mind, your new door’s hinges may not line up with the old door’s. I suggest getting a door slab with no hinges and attaching your existing hinges to the new door. I would use pole barn spikes instead of those big ugly screws he used
