This album is an overlooked gem within the whole alternative/nu metal movement of the late 90's. Snot has more elements of hardcore punk and funk than a lot of contemporaries at the time. It sucks that Lynn Strait and his dog Dobbs passed away shortly after the recording of this album. Though he's no longer with us, Lynn Strait's legacy still lives on over 25 years after Get Some was released.
Necrotic Nick- 100% agreed there. There was so much more to this band when it came down to the nu metal pack they were lumped into. There's always going to be that "what could have been" factor when I come back to this album/ band but I'm glad we at least one killer album and an awesome legacy with it. RIP Lynn.
So glad you guys decided to review this one. This album had such an impact on me when i was growing up and getting into metal. They aged much better than most other nu metal too and i still find myself regularly revisiting them. They were definitely something special and on the verge of exploding. I'm amazed that jammin jon caught them live and got a hug from Lynn Strait after the set, such a fucking awesome little memory to have. Can't buy shit like that.
Necrotic Nick- This album rarely left my CD player when I was a kid. Hell, I'm surprised my copy still plays at this point lol. I still wonder if they would have become the next big thing in metal but I guess we'll never know. I only wish I got to see them live but I'm glad I still have all the memories of jamming this album with a lot of friends. I'll take that.
It’s crazy because I’ve been listening to this record non-stop for the last two months, didn’t expect my favorite death metal connoisseurs to give it some love! I’ve wasted way too much of my life pondering an alternate reality where Lynn could have lived long enough to drop that second album. Such a fucking shame, and all from a damn car accident when he was just driving home. RIP Lynn and Dobbs.
Necrotic Nick- We had this planned for a retro review for awhile but it got pushed back since we had so much new stuff to cover for last year. I've been a fan of this band since I heard this and I'm honestly still a giant fan of this album. I think the potential for this band was huge and I feel like they would have kept evolving their sound. It's easy to call Snot nu metal but they had a lot of other influences they drew from which kept them interesting. It crushed me when Lynn died but I'm thankful we at least have what we have with him on it.
Necrotic Nick- Never got my chance but I jammed the hell out of Get Some when I got it. I still go back to that album pretty often. It's just a fun listen. RIP Lynn.
Gonna have to check this out. Probably haven't given this one a spin since the 90s. My biggest memory of this album actually revolves around the game Monster Rancher. One day I was playing it and I had to load a CD to create my monster. My buddy Brian's copy of Get Some was right on top of the console so in it went. The monster created after inserting the CD was a blue cube with a face that would occasionally extend out of the side like those water tentacles in The Abyss. So my memory of this album right now is of a blue cube shaped monster. 🤣
Necrotic Nick- This was an absolute blast to return to. My memories are decidedly different (I've never played Monster Rancher) but that is a pretty interesting one lol.
Being honest, I’ve been passing by this album over and over in my Spotify. The cover made me think it was just some goofy forgotten band. I’ve actually been getting back into Nu Metal so it’s interesting to see you guys reviewing it. Sad story behind the band tho, I’m thinking that finally listening to the album will make it even sadder but I’m excited for what I’ll hear.
Necrotic Nick- I mean, saying they're "goofy" and "forgotten" isn't entirely inaccurate but they're truly a hidden gem in my opinion. Most nu metal puts me off these days unless I had a really strong connection to it when I was younger but Snot was just flat out good. They brought more than just the standard nu metal tropes to their sound with that mix of funk and punk in there. It showed there was more to them but unfortunately we never really got to hear it.
I recently found a selt-titled album by Centox that were a one and done nu metal act and it was awesome. Would definitely recommend, it brings some of the best elements of the genre and none of the worst.
Necrotic Nick- I'll look into it when I get a chance. I'm currently going through a ton of other stuff to get caught up on other videos I plan on doing.
I remember these guys! They were pretty awesome and could fit in in a lot of different genres, nowadays nu metal is hard for me to stand mostly lol but there was a time that I was waaay too into it when I was a younger man. Hey! I have a suggestion for a retro review- Ripping Corpse: Dreaming with the dead- from 1991, that band was pretty cool, also a one and done. They had guitarist Erik Rutan ( Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal ) But ya I figured I would throw it out there haha! Alright, see yas on the next vid!🤘
Necrotic Nick- Honestly, most nu metal kinda puts me off but there are some albums/ bands that I still dig and this one will always be a favorite of mine. I've jammed this album countless times and it's a blast every time. Well, maybe a bit bittersweet but I'll never stop loving this album. Actually, I did a retro review of Ripping Corpse's Dreaming with the Dead with Miller awhile ago so if you haven't checked that one out it's in out retro review playlist. Take care, man!
Necrotic Nick- Sadly I never got to see them. I'm not sure how I'd feel about seeing them with Tommy Vext but seeing them in a titty bar would be about the perfect "ambience" lol
Imagine if a band created the most evil and sinister album you ever heard...and the album cover had a Chihuahua on it. Jokes aside this is a n underrated nu metal album. Sadly Lynn Strait and the nu metal dog passed away.
Necrotic Nick- I'd honestly still be curious about this hypothetical album you're talking about. Is the chihuahua wearing corpse paint or anything? lol I think the cover here though instantly works with a band called Snot though. Yeah, Lynn's death hit me pretty hard when I heard about it. I never got a chance to see them but I jammed this album non stop when I got it.
Saw them live and...well, they sucked 😂. They were way too into being energetic psychos than playing their parts and man, did they just...keep... fucking....up. It was hard to watch. I had and liked the album at the time, but sadly one of the most disappointing shows ever.
Necrotic Nick- Eh, you may have just caught an off night. I does happen and sometimes bands try too hard to be as energetic as possible and they get too loose.
Necrotic Nick- This band had so much potential and I think they would have been even bigger with a proper follow up. When Lynn died I was pretty gutted by it because he was such a commanding frontman and the band had tapped into more than just the nu metal scene with Get Some.
Bought the cd for the cover, not hearing any songs. But had a song called 'my balls' on the track list. That was enough for me. 'Tecato' and 'I jus lie' are the best songs on the album. Album holds up too. Actually, timeless.. RIP Lynn Staight and Dobbs..
Necrotic Nick- I was intrigued by the cover as well and I kept seeing adds for it all over the metal rags. The second I jammed it I loved it and honestly it's aged just about perfectly for me. Unplugged and Deadfall are my big go to track but I love it all.
Masterpiece. Don’t know if you include this or not, but Lynn was that cool, he had friends and band mates with Lagawagon and NoFx. That’s holds more weight and value than anything in the world to me 🤘🏽🤎
Necrotic Nick- I'm a longtime fan of this one and I love going back and jamming Get Some when I want to get away from all the standard brutality. It's just a fun album. I loved that Lynn and pretty much Snot were like a bridge between the metal and punk scenes too. They blended a ton of different stuff in their music and I'd say pretty much all of it worked. Gone too soon.

To put into perspective how good this album is, I don't really like nu metal, but I love Get Some.
It’s crazy because I’ve been listening to this record non-stop for the last two months, didn’t expect my favorite death metal connoisseurs to give it some love! Saw them at the Trocadero in Philly way back when. Amazing
Love the song Down he did with Manhole. Was before the Snot album.
First full metal album i listened yo
Had the pleasure of seeing Snot in 1998 opening for Soulfly. RIP Lynn.
Necrotic Nick- Never got my chance but I jammed the hell out of Get Some when I got it. I still go back to that album pretty often. It's just a fun listen. RIP Lynn.
Love this album
Necrotic Nick- Same here, man!
I love this album! Deadfall is a killer song. Listen to it every month at least.
Necrotic Nick- All fuckin' summer long, sugar lol

I missed out on theis band the first time around. So I'm definitely gonna have to check this one out.
Best intro of an album ever. Let's see what you guys have to say about it
Necrotic Nick- Starts of bold... ends pretty "ballsy" lol
Being honest, I’ve been passing by this album over and over in my Spotify. The cover made me think it was just some goofy forgotten band. I’ve actually been getting back into Nu Metal so it’s interesting to see you guys reviewing it. You wanna feel sad? Listen to "Strait Up". The music the band had recorded featuring all the bands friends on vocals. Such a fantastic tribute album.
Jamie Miller is easily one of the most underrated drummers of the past 30 years.
Necrotic Nick- That whole drum performance on Get Some is amazing. I love the all the bouncy grooves mixed with that punk aggression.
I recently found a selt-titled album by Centox that were a one and done nu metal act and it was awesome. Would definitely recommend, it brings some of the best elements of the genre and none of the worst.
ua-cam.com/video/usgE2vlwmZ8/v-deo.html this is the full album if anyone is interested.
Necrotic Nick- I'll look into it when I get a chance. I'm currently going through a ton of other stuff to get caught up on other videos I plan on doing.
I’ll have to check this out.
Necrotic Nick- It's such a fun album. One of my favorites of the late 90's for sure.

@@thrallsofmetal Checing it out right now! Awesome haha
4 words come to mind from this album to form one of the most hilarious phrases in the english language: 'MY BALLS YOUR CHIN!'
Necrotic Nick- There's a lot of great lines and lyrical nuggets to take from this band but that is still a top tier one in my book lol.
Loved Snot, saw them with Soulfly and Hed pe, and caught one of the shows with Tommy Vext in a strip club which was a perfect venue for a snot show.
Necrotic Nick- Sadly I never got to see them. I'm not sure how I'd feel about seeing them with Tommy Vext but seeing them in a titty bar would be about the perfect "ambience" lol
Not a fan of nu metal. But, Sepultura, Kreator, Death Angel, Spirit World 30 May in Seattle. That will be an awesome concert. Announced today. 🤘
Necrotic Nick- Nu metal is the easiest thing to call this but honestly there's so much more to this album/ band.
R.I.P. Lynn Strait!
Necrotic Nick- RIP Lynn and Dobbs

Do you guys like godsmack
Necrotic Nick- They were OK on the first 2 albums but after that it got kinda lame.
If guys have any cds by Mordred do a Review on the band.
Necrotic Nick- I don't own any of their stuff and I'm kinda hit or miss on what I've heard by them.
Deadsy retro review? 🤞
Necrotic Nick- Possibly. I think they just got back together not too long ago so maybe they'll have something new to release.
The band would have been big if they went on to do more albums unfortunately.
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, I think they would have blown up even more. Fate had different plans unfortunately... if you believe in fate that is.
More muzak less talk!!!! Damn dude!!!!!
Saw them live and...well, they sucked 😂.

@@thrallsofmetal for sure, but I was hoping they'd be better next time and there wasn't a next time. 😥
I'm gonna go on a limb and say that this is the greatest nu metal album ever recorded. Imagine how massive they would've been if Lynn hadn't died.
Necrotic Nick- This band had so much potential and I think they would have been even bigger with a proper follow up. When Lynn died I was pretty gutted by it because he was such a commanding frontman and the band had tapped into more than just the nu metal scene with Get Some.
