  • Removing and replacing the cam shaft on my 1996 Polaris Sportsman 500. These bikes had a known issue where the metal the cam was made of may have been a little soft causing premature lobe wear on the exhaust lobe of the cam. In this video I'm pulling the cam for inspection while im trying to chase down a running issue with the bike.

I just saw your video. Hopefully you have it fixed by now. I was going to suggest an air leak at the carb boot, bad cdi or faulty reverse switch on the left handlebar.

I own a 1997 Polaris Sportsman 500. What would you suggest for me to do to keep my ATV in good working order? Thanks for the video. This week I am going to replace my cam.
