I visited a primary school located in the heart of Hanzhong, a prefecture-level city in the southwestern region of Shaanxi province. Hanzhong, with a population of about 3 million people, is home to many residents who have never encountered foreigners. Notably, Hanzhong city holds historical significance as it was instrumental in the establishment of the Han dynasty by Emperor Gaozu, commonly known as Liu Bang. This period is often considered as the first golden age in imperial Chinese history, lending its name to the principal ethnic group in China.
