- A release by Olde English Spelling Bee. This album was created by musician Vektroid under the moniker of Macintosh Plus, and is one of the most well-known albums in the Vaporwave genre. The release borrows from the cassette version of the album, and features the same audio mixes and tracklisting as the cassette version, as well
Inserts include a foldout poster featuring a new Floral Shoppe design by Vektroid, as well as a pink slip containing a code to download the album digitally
This specific vinyl release has been extremely controversial, with record label Olde English Spelling Bee failing to deliver stock to thousands of customers. It wasn't until other online storefronts started selling copies that people were finally able to get a copy for themselves. OESB has repeatedly given empty promises on delivering their stock, and their online presence on social media sites like Reddit have painted them in a bad light, failing to do damage control and tarnishing the reputation of their already unfavorable record label

This isn't an upload that I would usually do on my channel, since it's not video game music, but considering the overall importance of the album combined with the controversy of everything that I mentioned in the description, I figured it might be appropriate to share my copy here for others to listen to at the very least

Nice spot. I honestly was torn, and I thought, the sound track to Terminator when Reese is having the flashback dream and he's bivouacking among the ruins, avoiding the Treads. But yeah, damn skippy, it's The Ruins in Turok one. I tried to make my own song, once, using that sort of OMMMMM synth, like that one.

I’ve been following the drama firsthand from watching OESB on Reddit and reading all these comments and stories from him and these customers. I have not seen a album release as controversial as this in my lifetime, I feel. It’s seriously crazy

I tough my copy had a scratch because of all the pops during the last song of this side, but now i know it's normal. God blessssss
Yeah, the digital track has those same pops, so it is definitely supposed to be that way :)
I just received my copy. After i finished listening to it, I almost dropped it while trying to put it back in the sleeve. I saved by grabbing it directly on the grooves. I had to listen it again to see if it was damaged and i got scared when i reached this song.
Macintosh plus 420 is such a calming song, helps when the anxiety levels are high XD
Imagine it begins to glitch and becomes to go slower...
OLDE ENGLISH SPELLING BEE scammed a lot of people
Ordered it back in September. Never got shipped. Bought another copy on Earcave, it was shipped almost immediately. At least I got to actually have it, but who knows the first one will eventually be shipped too (haven't requested refund)
Update: got my copy from Earcave last week, so while I'm still disappointed at OESBee, I'm glad I finally got it in my collection.
Bought 3 copies. One on Bandcamp, one on another site, and one on Turntable Lab. The Turtntable lab copy was in my hands within 9 days
I was just barely able to get a refund from my Bandcamp order but this other site I’ll wait a bit to get a refund from that. In some ways I’m still holding out hope on everyone eventually getting their copies. It’s just a matter of time

OESB UPDATE - 12/10/2019
Wow, what a roller coaster decade its been for Olde English Spelling Bee!!
From epic heights to unearthly depths, oh the stories one could tell.
Maybe for another day.
But tonight is a long overdue update regarding the whole Floral Shoppe mess.
Long story short we are working with some legal counsel to try to resolve the situation so that customers still waiting on their copies can either receive their records or a refund.
This was never a scam or fraud on our end -- the problems began when Paypal froze all of our funds and then wouldn't release our funds like they promised they would after receiving proof that we were delivering orders. They would delay the release of funds for weeks/months and then only release a fraction of what was promised to be unfrozen. During this time all the conspiracy theories began in the Vaporwave circles about the release being a scam -- we were receiving several death threats daily -- it reached a point where we stopped looking at our email inbox because of all the abuse.
Then our pressing plant took advantage of this chaos and started selling copies that we (and you, our customers) had already paid for. If you have bought any copy of Floral Shoppe that did not include the download card then that was a copy that was (very) illegally sold by the pressing plant via their bootleg distributor -- this counts for any pink, white, or clear copies -- if there's no download card then it was illegally produced and sold -- in fact OESB and Vektroid never authorized the production of any color aside from the pink.
Part of the reason that very few international orders shipped is that Paypal was demanding that we proved to them as many shipments as possible before they would release any funds -- and because our funds were very limited at the time we had to focus on what was cheapest to ship (USA domestic orders) -- we had a sizable batch of copies sitting in a London warehouse intended for international fulfillments and we eventually lost those copies after not being able to keep up with the monthly storage bill. They were acquired by an Andy Rickman in the UK and are now being sold via his website andysrecordstore.co.uk/ priced somewhere below what the eBay flippers are currently charging -- its a cruel cruel world / such is life / our loss was his gain -- but to our knowledge those are the last of the original sealed pink copies with the poster and download card. End of an era. End of the decade. End of this message.
Actually, not yet -- OESB will be making a comeback in 2020 -- so lovers and haters rejoice -- and if anyone out there thinks they can sincerely help on any of our legal fronts then by all means contact me at oesbee@gmail.com -- because we're looking for a Henry Moonchild type character to come in and CLEAN UP SHOPPE!!

For FLAC file...how did you record it and transfer it to an upload-able file format? I am worried the vinyl aspect compromises the original sound quality of the piece. Did you just set up a mic to your speakers and uploaded that to your Drive, or is there really no compromise to the *true* nature of the original sound of your record?
The turntable itself has direct USB transfer. It basically converts the signal to a digital format. Obviously, once you convert analog to digital, you’ll lose something there, but for the most part it’s not such a bad quality. There are a lot of people who ask for vinyl FLAC rips, but to be honest I’m not sure why, as I’m sure a digital file will sound infinitely better, even with a record being mastered well. Some people just like knowing the audio came from a record I guess? Or they like the added crackles and pops and surface noise? In the case of my channel overall, it seems kind of oxymoron to be listening to something that’s supposed to be analog in a digital space, but I’m sure most do it for the visual sake, and to judge the pressing quality in case they choose to seek out a copy of their own

Anthony [TRP] wait what? I ordered mine in January and I still haven't got mine yet you get yours a little over a week of purchasing. That doesn't make sense!
I ended up buying 3 copies in total. One from Bandcamp that I got a refund from last week, one from another site called Angelfire, and another site called Turntable Lab
This Turntable Lab order is the one you see here. Apparently the record label never paid for their inventory or the pressing plant pressed more, but somehow a lot of online stores received copies of the album and people who are buying from these stores are finally getting copies
Olde English Spelling Bee, the record label, is likely not going to be shipping copies out anytime soon. It is a stupidly controversial release that has affected thousands

Yep. My friend bought his in August and never received his yet either. I bought mine in November. I don’t know what shops would carry them now but with some looking around on Google and Reddit you might be lucky and find another store pop up with genuine copies in hand. Best of luck, shame this release happened the way it did

Hey Oesbee, could you please reply to your emails? (I've changed address since ordering). If that's a bit much, could you put out some kind of email updates every so often? I don't know what the situation is and it does concern me the stress you must be under, but it also feels a little like you've turned your back on everyone.
Especially now seeing a youtube comment like this, and yet no official responses for the people rightly wondering where their order is. The email could be something as simple as "I'm sorry, things are really shit, I haven't forgotten about you" and at least people would have something to go by. I really don't think that's too much to ask.
