Im from the Bay and I love East LA. Its not even as bad as people or the media say it is. Im thinking of moving there. It has so much character and culture.
I think what a lot of these people, yourself included is that to say something like that is you're forgetting that you're not a minority. Mexico is a big country that takes many intellectual people to make up and be the strong nation it is. Don't limit yourself and act one way because the American media portrays you in such ways.
Let me know if you ever find it online, streaming.i can't order the movie,so i rely on Netflix and Hulu,UA-cam etc. Glad you liked it,haven't seen it in about a decade.
Bottom line is people create their own paths and choose to live a good life or a life of destruction! There is no easy way for the majority of us, you either make the choice to educate yourself and build a life, or choose to blame circumstance and what you don't or didn't have as an excuse for not doing the right things? Life is hard no matter how much you have or don't have and it's much more difficult to be part of the solution than it is being the problem? proving everyone wrong is one of the sweetest victories in life and sets an example for other family and friends...

Growing up in gang infested neighborhoods becomes a matter of survival. It becomes a way of living you become a third breed that won't be understood. Some of us having both our parents good hard workers good morals dignity but never at home. had to fend for our selfs schools never helped.....you would have to live it to understand it
Cuz you just dont know
If its all you see its all you know. I remember leaving the hood to nice area for the first time and I thought I was at Disneyland but it was just over the hill in West Covina. We need to help these kids to see there is more to life, shit that there is a life that they can have.
Barrio cholo forever
Im from the Bay and I love East LA. Its not even as bad as people or the media say it is. Im thinking of moving there. It has so much character and culture.
Aww, how white of you. 🙋
So what will you do.. When the party'sover🎶No neighborhood is worth dying for . Life is to precious❤️
I think what a lot of these people, yourself included is that to say something like that is you're forgetting that you're not a minority. Mexico is a big country that takes many intellectual people to make up and be the strong nation it is. Don't limit yourself and act one way because the American media portrays you in such ways.
I wonder how many of these people are alive and in prison Etc or how many made it out and are successful they should do an update video
American Me movie was good as hell.
Let me know if you ever find it online, streaming.i can't order the movie,so i rely on Netflix and Hulu,UA-cam etc. Glad you liked it,haven't seen it in about a decade.
+BushiBato you could watch it on movie droide or Kodi Exodus
hell na it wasn't they didn't even tell truth majority of the time.
+Bryan Vega its a movie dude nobody would realpy tell the secrets
+Jack Woods HELL THIS WAS THE SHIT...i remember being 12 and i couldnt watch it because of the buttfuck scene...lol
the majority of those people are dead for making this movie
Really?
yah its mafia shit, the people in prison gave the green light
JimmyJoker Why give a Green light on guys who made a Good movie like this?
405 BOY, they snitChin on the inner working of the mafias influence in the joint, and out on the streets just for a movie, and that's a no no.
405 BOY, they snitChin on the inner working of the mafias influence in the joint, and out on the streets just for a movie, and that's a no no.
I need to get the guy at the end's mixtape.
What's the name of the OG rapping at the end? he got down!
Agreed, these idiots stand around in the street wasting time...starring at people who pass by....what a sad life....glad they kill each other...we dont need scum like that reproducing shit kids like them...
So true, i used to think all this bullshit where so cool watching these movies admiring their life. No i find it sad man. Wadting their life trying to defend a street corner, shooting themself, ur own people. Pathetic and sad man. How can people become so stupid and idiots. The politicians probably laugh their ass of when this kids shoot themself.
That's right.
Come out if these hoods.
Work hard. ..
By your path. Get skills.
Prove everybody that your better .

6:48 Ana Lizarraga was one of the numerous ppl murdered for contributing to this film RIP
The introduction from Olmos sounds like a scripted PSA.
I seen it happen, you know, with my eyes.
-Homie at the end.

Did you like American me more than blood in blood out, I think American mean is better, I was just wondering what everybody else thought

Olmos really did try his best to do the right thing.... he couldn't control the political aspects of the streets.
I love this movie. Life imitating art? I know this movie did more harm than good. It glorified the gangs and made hopeless chicanos follow negative stereotypes .
Off topic but it’s wild watching movies like this and blood in blood out at different stages of your life and relating to a different character each time
wow I still never knew Edward James olmos not only acted in the movie but also directed it
7:26 girl in flannel rockin that Snarff look...

MR_INSULT 619 did it have something to do with a homosexual scene?
@@garyhall6294 yea it did because it wasn't true and the fact homosexuality was a big part of the movie and in the real eme if you were raped in jail n even if u killed the person who did it u weren't allowed in and they told him take it out he didn't they killed one lady almost killed 2 others and put a hit on him
Danny tre saved his life
MC BLVD- I Remember You Homie
Your control battery is low. Just heads up.
Anyone know the name of that cute girl in the white T on 7:29 ??? Damm would have been nice to meet her back in those days !!
Wonder what ever happened to these people, so many probably died, went to prison, fell in love, had family’s, everybody has a story. Crazy to see this kinda stuff.
Moral of the story is...,
Don’t ask about la eme!
Don’t talk about la eme!
And don’t make movies about la eme pinche cobran!
SMH 🤦♀️
Lmfao at the rapper at the end. I remember you homie 😂😂😂😂😂

These Teens look so happy to be known and to have a part on something possitive in their comunity...too bad it was short lived...It was only a Movie.
@ 10:20 the kids seem to be playing "fire ball" a game with a tennis ball or some thing similar that I used to play in elementary school. I havent thought about that game in years but it was always super fun and competitive.
Handball
@ word. Ya maybe we were just playing handball the whole time but called it fireball. 😅 gotta re read the rules to see if that’s the case
@ fireball sounds like a better name tho.
They preach family, unity, and respect-why not unite ALL neighborhoods and become a family of all people. So dumb.
I will never forget the 80’s and 90’s
Same here I reminisce on the 90's we were way downer than now in days cell phone gangsters and talking shit on the internet
Glad those days are gone.

I wonder, have any of these gang members that stared in the movie, been blessed with a career in the movie business from the opportunity?
I wonder what happened to these people after this documentary filmed. They only show what happens in Cali, what about tx?
Texas ain't like Cali
it all started in LA
jose covarrubias yes. I know. I didn't say it was
