After about 18 months of ownership it broke still with a valid warranty Thrustmaster refuses to replace/repair. I only use the wheel perhaps 1 or 2 nights a week for maybe 3 hrs each time or less. The left gear shift leaver snapped and as it broke the lever pressed against the wheel and the internal part of the lever pushed back onto the back of the wheel casing cracking it with the lever falling onto the desk. In an email from the shop I purchsed from, they acknowledged this internal part is a known failure however the cracking of the case is not. As this was first time for this time occur (that they are aware of) Thrustmaster refuse to replace or repair the wheel as they say I deliberately broke it. I took a picture of the rear of the wheel is as it was when I first looked at the brake. It certainly wasn't deliberate. For a known issue Thrustmaster should replace. I found several examples of users having the same issue with even a recommended repair. Buyer be aware. Thrustmaster support is not forthcoming in supporting their warranty or standing behind their product. I thought I was upgrading from a Logitec which proved trusty for 12yrs, a fool am I.

I'm thinking getting one for my PS5 to play GT SPORT and the upcoming GT 7 Can you feel the car nicely, and feel when you about to lose the control of the car so you can correct it? if you can give me your feedback of the wheel it would be much appreciated
Thank you for not making me feel old, as somebody born in the 70's it is nice to know we exist us older gamers, a lot to be said for age.. Very good review, i find it hard to slate games today, when I grew up with Indy 500 on Atari and Pong in black n white hell even Astro Wars took batteries. Galaxians was real life gfx to me. Keep up the good work. P.S I bought a T300 Alcantara setup and im happy could have gone Fanatec but not a priority just paid the mortgage off and was brought up to not spend that much.. But T300 is fantastic for a simmer who wants more than joypad and isn't pro sim. I took mine apart and upgraded the Pots and dual fitted my bluetooth mouse inline as Left mouse = clutch, middle potention meter (scroll wheel) mouse (best for stiffness) = brake and accelerator is mouse right button, with a switch to turn them off. It comes in handy for other games.. Alot of flight sims wont let you use clutch and accel as rudder. So by fitting scroll wheel to 2 feeds switched on clutch and accel can be done. I next want to fit a trackball with smaller ball (marble size) in center of wheel. One thing the t300 as going for it is dual belt i prefer belt to direct drive( i know im the exception) but horses for courses) not to mention how noisy they can be if midnight gaming when family in bed.. Ive rigged a blutooth keyboards tiny m/board (minus key board) to 4"x 2" plug board with a mouse sockets too for any control mapping custom key/mouse input switch, diy shifter and handbrake etc(like a telephone exchange) ill send you plans and a finsihed board if you want, free or plans to anyone interested on comments. Allows buttons that are plugged in to always be recognised by games without drivers.
Just a random thats looking for a new wheel but holy cow is this guy amazing at making vidoes. Came lookin for a wheel, stayed for the sim racing garage informative content. Nice video!
In addition the the cooling mode update that Paul posted you should also give it 10-15min to cool after a race session. I wrote a .bat file for my sim machine with a desktop shortcut to automatically shut it down after 15mins. I had one of these go bad a little over a year old and I think the issue was I would race then shut the computer down and the wheel's innards would heat soak because the fan turns off.
Very well done. Thank you for taking the time to go into great detail about this wheel. I really enjoy watching your review videos to help me make a good decision on what to spend my money on.
WOW! I’m was really amazed at the In depth review...this really helped me in making my decision on what to get for my simulator.. thank you for taking the time to make a well thorough review!
15:35 the quality of the fan used is a bit suspect, mine failed giving off a loud humming noise with vibration felt through the wheel, seems to be a common issue however its now resolved with a huge PC fan and no top cover, guess i will never have high temp issues.
a tip for mounting: put the wheel base over a 40x40/45x45 profile, screw the 2 M6 bolts with 2 brackets on the "back" side of the profile, towards monitors, in this way the M10 hole will be accessible on the other side (seat side), grab the clamp and make it "hug" the profile from underneath and screw it in, in this way you don't need any Wheel Deck, any wood plate nor anything else while respecting the 3 hole mounting rule with a lot of strenght! Hope this is understandable without pics: Source: I'm a cockpit producer
This is some really helpful info thank you so much! I ordered the pedals used on ebay and they were squeaking like mad, dirty as hell. I got a really good price on them so I thought meh and cleaned it out, applied some new grease and now it works and looks like new!
Very very nice review! Thank you. 😁 I had a beginner wheel in the mid-90s when NFS was popular. It was cheap and only lasted about 50 hours before giving out. Perhaps I will give this one a try for my 60th B-day in April?
Barry... So informative without the hype. Calm and logical. Keep up the great work. I'm an old guy wanting to get back into sim racing after a very long layoff (GPL back in the day). After research, I've decided I don't have room in our condo w/ small computer room to fit a wheel stand like the Next Level Racing 'DD' model. My setup would be right at my PC computer desk w/ my high-end 27" Acer gaming monitor and self-built very fast PC. So, for now, I'm just going to attach an entry level wheel/pedals to my desk and go iRacing I guess. If you have any ideas for me, I'd appreciate it. I'm leaning to the Logi-G29 at this point. Thanks again. (Computer rig: Asus MB, Intel 9900K CPU oc'd to 4.6Ghz, and nVidia 2080ti graphics card, etc.)
Barry, thanks for making this video. I have a T500 and always wondered what it looked like on the inside but was not mechanically inclined enough to take it apart. I was afriad I wouldn't be able to get it back together..lol. Great job!!
Not sure if you cover it in the video (I was multi tasking while watching) but you can change the degrees of rotation the wheel has on the fly. There are 5 settings. 270° 360° 540° 900° 1080° While in game you simply hold the mode button down then press right on the D-pad to go up to the next setting or left to go down (if it's at 270° then press "right" 4 times to go straight up to 1080°) then let go of the mode button and the red light should flash to show you which setting it is now on. 1 flash means it's set to 270° all the way up to 5 flashes meaning 1080° I find this very useful. I mosty use all 1080° especially for road cars but sometimes, especially for F1/Indy cars i find 900° better.

You know when Barry reviews even the most mundane hardware, you're in for a masterpiece hour long documentary about it 😏
I don't know if you mentioned this, but the 3 threaded holes in the bottom of the pedals, presumably to mount that brake mod, work very well to mount the pedals from the bottom using those same 6mm bolts that fit the bottom of the wheel.
My 1st wheel. I'm very satisfied with it. The only problem I had with it (and pedals) was squeaking. But it wasn't a very difficult problem to solve. Oh, and the other little problem was that it has some little flaws, like it's been hit by a screwdriver or something here and there and the metal part of the wheel wasnt carefully and fully painted (I used a sharpie to cover it lol).
Barry, I recently discovered your channel and have watched several of your vids and the production quality and thorough nature of your reviews is incredible. I have this particular wheel and pedal set currently (Leather edition) for the xBox but I can figure out how to access the "Thrustmaster" wheel setting, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could clue me in on how to do that. Great job Sir.
This is by far the best review I’ve seen on a steering wheel and pedals! Thanks! Also, I’m just getting into racing sims, and was wondering if this is a good wheel/pedals to start with?
The internal power supply gets crazy hot and the fan has not effect on it plus the case really isn't designed for airflow so this wheel is great but prone to overheating
I recently got this wheel as my first racing wheel. I do like it a lot, but I do have the same mount issue. I have a glass top desk with a metal bar that runs right where the wheel would mount. My other two issues are the wheel mounted shifters, and my power cord looses connection sometimes. I still like the wheel a lot though. I've only played Project Cars 2 (in VR) so far, I haven't noticed any delay issues at all. I was actually surprised at how spot on everything was.
Thank you for the really good review information. In particular, there are subtitles in Korean, so even those who do not know English could get good information
Just picked up the T300 to get more into racing and stumbled on your review, then I happened to peep the MFG Crosswind pedals on the wall and knew I had the right guy. I don't know if you've modified your rudders yet, but I suggest the dampener kit and to change out the stock pedal faces, I'm using the cessna replicas. Funny enough I have actually been using my crosswinds mounted upside down to a vertical face to turn them into a gas/brake. Thanks for the in depth review, I'll definitely be upgrading the pedals first, but this looks like a decent way to get more into it.
@ sim racing garage The loose in the center i think is du to the option selected in the thrustmaster interface,i selected "auto center" "by the wheel" put 2% to get rid of that.
Thinking about it, with that many amps at the ready one could use a small, well tested, inexpensive and very powerful, mass produced starter motor for a direct drive wheel. Was also thinking the inverse of a compound bow like cam added to brake pedal could make a simple spring much more dynamic than a gas ram.
43:50 funny the other day my wife made me realize that whenever i fuck up a turn i tend to scratch my nose or touch my face afterwise...just like you did there! hehe Great review i have a G25 and i'm considering selling it and getting a T300RS GT edition with the Th8A shifter...and maybe in the future upgrading to the T3PA-Pro pedals and maybe getting a nicer wheel to put on the T300RS servo...should i do it?
The G25 has been used to win a lot of races over the years. So, if it isn't giving any trouble no reason to replace it. On the other hand, if you have some disposable income, it's always a nice treat to get a shiney new wheel, pedal set, and shifter for your driving pleasure. But really, only you can make the call.
@@cory4071 did not. Read too many horror stories about reliability and couldnt find one at good price...ended up getting a brand new G29 with the shifter from amazon got a good deal on it...changed the shift boot and the shift knob on the shifer and now i like it.

If you have the INVERTED pedals on the T3PA Pro, press and hold for 2 seconds, then it should be GREEN.
Thank you so much for the detailed review.. Now i got my New T300RS GT edition..
The mode button is for inverted pedals ;)
memories created
I thought to buy T3PA Pro pedals because of the inverted pedals mode. Have this pedals that option? In my country this model are on offer and its cheaper than to buy T3PA Pro and t300 wheel base separately.
Thank you and sorry for my english.

Man I’m watching this video again to learn how to fix the wheel, and I can’t help but saying you have a wonderful television radio voice!!!!
You have done a great video on this, ive watched loads and none give anywhere near the amount of product info that you do, excellent job and well done ;)
I have the RS version and like it. I did buy a replacement cooling fan to have on hand just in case I need one and to limit down time if I ever need it. The fans are cheap enough. I do like reviews on equipment that I can actually afford. I trust your reviews the most because you go the extra mile to get into the nuts and bolts to see how things actually work. Keep up the awesome reviews! Your channel is a great asset to the sim community!
I'm taking apart my T300RS for the third time now (twice the wheelbase and once the pedals) to fix stuff. Every time I come back to this video to get the instructions. Very helpful every time!
Still survive? How long u had use it?
@@poseidondredd It's not very old; I got it about a year ago. I had to fix a squeaky throttle pedal with some lube and had to replace the USB cable with a USB-B connector since our bunny chewed the cord.
Still watching the video but stopped for a moment just to say : excellent review! All reviews should be done like this!
Excellent deep and instructional review of the T300, very interesting to watch. Thank you for doing this.
Incredibly informative, thanks for helping me feel better about the value of this setup and pull the trigger on this starter purchase.
I bought a used T300 with no Power cable, threw that psu away and replaced the whole thing with a Laptop power brick and it's been awesome ever since, well worth the 80 British pounds I paid for it.
May I ask which PSU? Having trouble sourcing a 32.5v
Same question... I'ld like to do that too so it doesn't overheat anymore
First time I see someone doing a real review.
Very Nice.
16:11 me neither haven't got those problems with 3 years of heavy use daily but i will keep my fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞 also one big factor my room is always at 73f i can only imagine this thing overheating in a room that gets close to 90f and its possible. also one more thing i always run it with the fan constantly at full speed because my tought is if it goes out it better be the fan and not the motor i can easily replace a fan but not that specific motor 😁
So detailed, thanks a lot for your insight. I learn things from your breakdowns that I don't from any other reviewers.
Wow, what a review and what a voice! Enjoyed every second of it. Thanks for the detailed look under the hood 👍
This wheel is still popular in 2020. Just ordered the RS GT Model. Can't wait to test it out.
Greetings from Cologne, Germany 🖤❤💛
I just realized I am your long lost nephew so hit me up I can't wait to come over and race on your sim rig Uncle. (Humor)
Tim datoolman wait me too😂😂 I want to come over and play, im a lost cousin😅😂
Im his long lost something but im from Australia. Can i race to?
I'm your long lost favourite postman. The great days we had discussing about all those mails you received. Looking forward to go on your sim rig
Got all yall best. I'm his father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate!
NO SPRAGAZA ENGLACE can i play your sim rig too
After about 18 months of ownership it broke still with a valid warranty Thrustmaster refuses to replace/repair. I thought I was upgrading from a Logitec which proved trusty for 12yrs, a fool am I.
i bought this wheel based on your review barry. and it has been excellent so far. i will be looking at your reviews of sim rigs and direct drive sim setup when the time comes. thanks for your excellent instructive videos and help in making correct choices.
@Metallimies how's it?
you liking the T300? Is worth it?
I'm thinking getting one for my PS5 to play GT SPORT and the upcoming GT 7
Can you feel the car nicely, and feel when you about to lose the control of the car so you can correct it?
if you can give me your feedback of the wheel it would be much appreciated
Scoop... Very good reply. Interesting how much you know/figured out to modify it to improve it's capabilities.
He's the Bob Ross of Sims. Relaxing to watch, happy little screws.
Just a random thats looking for a new wheel but holy cow is this guy amazing at making vidoes. Came lookin for a wheel, stayed for the sim racing garage informative content. Nice video!
Great stuff...top reviews...nice and chilled to listen to when working from home during the Corona-virus pandemic lol
I discovered your channel via this review, and I like your professionalism :=)
Very well done. Thank you for taking the time to go into great detail about this wheel. I really enjoy watching your review videos to help me make a good decision on what to spend my money on.
I use a T-GT II myself so bought one of these on ebay to give to my nephew and looks like a really solid starter wheel for sure.
Great review and thank you for taking it apart to explain in detail.
Thanks Bob Ross! Great video
Hands down the best review I've come across! Thanks!
a tip for mounting: put the wheel base over a 40x40/45x45 profile, screw the 2 M6 bolts with 2 brackets on the "back" side of the profile, towards monitors, in this way the M10 hole will be accessible on the other side (seat side), grab the clamp and make it "hug" the profile from underneath and screw it in, in this way you don't need any Wheel Deck, any wood plate nor anything else while respecting the 3 hole mounting rule with a lot of strenght! Hope this is understandable without pics:

This is some really helpful info thank you so much! I ordered the pedals used on ebay and they were squeaking like mad, dirty as hell. I got a really good price on them so I thought meh and cleaned it out, applied some new grease and now it works and looks like new!
Someone recommend this channel to me for all sim information, I am very pleased, This guy is Deep! I'm a new subscriber for life.
The second you spoke It sounded like I was listening to a recorded narration of a motorsports broadcast in the '70s.
Earned a sub, just for the radio voice! By the way, getting to understand what goes on under the hood is awesome too!
Very very nice review! Thank you. 😁
I had a beginner wheel in the mid-90s when NFS was popular.
Absolutely
Good computer bro!
only at the 5 minute mark, but I can tell that is REALLY in depth!
Awesome video my friend! It's very interesting to see how everything works
Brilliant overview. Thank you Barry.
Barry, thanks for making this video. I have a T500 and always wondered what it looked like on the inside but was not mechanically inclined enough to take it apart. I was afriad I wouldn't be able to get it back together..lol. Great job!!
Would love to have THIS Setup :D Review the RS Ferrari Edition, Love it !
Ferrari Edition FTW!
Very professional video, thoroughly enjoyed it!
Just got one from Amazon plus TH8A shifter, everything are better than my previous G29! Thanks 🙏
Not sure if you cover it in the video (I was multi tasking while watching) but you can change the degrees of rotation the wheel has on the fly. There are 5 settings.
270°
360°
540°
900°
1080°
While in game you simply hold the mode button down then press right on the D-pad to go up to the next setting or left to go down (if it's at 270° then press "right" 4 times to go straight up to 1080°) then let go of the mode button and the red light should flash to show you which setting it is now on.
1 flash means it's set to 270° all the way up to 5 flashes meaning 1080°
I find this very useful. I mosty use all 1080° especially for road cars but sometimes, especially for F1/Indy cars i find 900° better.
You know when Barry reviews even the most mundane hardware, you're in for a masterpiece hour long documentary about it 😏
Just ordered one of these. Upgrading from a G29, & will hang onto the G29 as a backup. Super excited to try the T300 out.
How do you like it? I’m upgrading from a g27
@@seth2413 sorry for the delay. It is absolutely an upgrade. The pedals aren’t anything special but the wheel is worth it 100%
I don't know if you mentioned this, but the 3 threaded holes in the bottom of the pedals, presumably to mount that brake mod, work very well to mount the pedals from the bottom using those same 6mm bolts that fit the bottom of the wheel.
That's some quality review.
WOW thats what you call a review!
Very interesting review as always
Thank you for the really good review information. In particular, there are subtitles in Korean, so even those who do not know English could get good information
Amazing review!
Great review as always Barry my friend.
I love this wheel so does my 4 year old. Works fantastic in Cars I and II.
@ sim racing garage The loose in the center i think is du to the option selected in the thrustmaster interface,i selected "auto center" "by the wheel" put 2% to get rid of that.
Adding a 24v supercapacitor and perhaps a fuse to the power supply might be an interesting experiment.
Incredible review!
Love your videos. Could you do a comparison between the T150 and T300?
Please
Just really well done review
I understand the MODE button to switch the throttle/brake pedals around. To use with PC put Switch to PS3.
43:50 funny the other day my wife made me realize that whenever i fuck up a turn i tend to scratch my nose or touch my face afterwise...just like you did there! hehe
Great review i have a G25 and i'm considering selling it and getting a T300RS GT edition with the Th8A shifter...and maybe in the future upgrading to the T3PA-Pro pedals and maybe getting a nicer wheel to put on the T300RS servo...should i do it?
The G25 has been used to win a lot of races over the years. So, if it isn't giving any trouble no reason to replace it. On the other hand, if you have some disposable income, it's always a nice treat to get a shiney new wheel, pedal set, and shifter for your driving pleasure. But really, only you can make the call.
did you get the T300RS GT? if so how is it, im thinking of getting one
@@cory4071 did not. Read too many horror stories about reliability and couldnt find one at good price...ended up getting a brand new G29 with the shifter from amazon got a good deal on it...changed the shift boot and the shift knob on the shifer and now i like it.
@@TechWizMaster i might try to risk it and get a t300rs, because then you can swap which wheels you like and apparently its smoother since its belt driven, I can always replace it if it breaks.. thats if its still in warranty, but ill consider getting the g29 too
@@cory4071 i've never had the chance to try other wheels so i couldn't tell but i can see that it's smoother...the G29 is notchy sometimes if you put a lot of effects on...but the way i have it setup it works really well. G29 is louder too i would assume.
This is, to have similar equipment with the T300RS i was looking at almost double the price...
The pedals on the G29 are really good IMHO...and the shifter is cheap but once you upgrade it with automotive parts from amazon it's fine. Like this: www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/logitech-g29-shifter-mods-improvements.356908/
the mode button is for switching the t3pa pro pedal layout
really good and interessting Review, thumbs up :D
FYI those warranty stickers are illegal. It's unlawful to deny warranty due to a user self-servicing a product.
I just realized that I've watched the whole 50 mins lmao
thank you so much for this. i had a g27 for years (9) and it died on me and wante a g29. This proved that the t300rs and the accessories was the right choice for me. thank you for going in such detail.
I've said many time but gotta say again.
Thank you
What a thoroughly interesting video
Hello master race I am a console pleb i've been playing GTSport on a g29 for about 2 years now, got bored and decided I would have a look at Assetto Corsa because it was super cheep.
I could not even play AC on the G29 I thought there was something wrong with the game I couldn't feel the road enough and would lust loose controll corner after corner, until I got t300 a few days ago.
WOW it just changed everything, my qualifying times in GTS are down almost 2 seconds and Asetto Corsa is just a dream to use.
