@Harry Engel unfortunately for Blanda he isn't really remembered for being a QB even though he advertised himself as simply "a quarterback who could also kick"
When you put it into perspective, the 2020 nfl season isn't that weird. Its just stadiums with no people. Compare it to 1982, 9 games, 16 playoff teams, and a kicker winning league mvp.
Not league wide but Katrina in 2005... Saints home opener in New York and only 4 home games are played in Louisiana (none in New Orleans). Throw in persistent rumors that they would stay in San Antonio, and it was a sickening year of football. Going 3-13 didn't help.
Or what happens to Drew Bledsoe career. I mean they signed him to a 10 year contract that off-season. They would've wanted him to be there for a while.
Could you imagine what Reggie White's contract would look like if he was playing now? He would probably be making 17 million after two games. I don't know how I never realized new single season passing yards, pass TDs, receiving TDs, rush yards, and sack records all were set in the same season. We might not see something like that happen in the same season ever again.
Marino's record setting year in 1984 has become the norm in the no-defense 2000s. No runner will ever break Dickenson's record though, they'll never get enough carries.
Hey, I saw you on First Take with Stephen right before Kickoff started on TV, I think. i couldn't higher up the TV's volume because my mom was sleeping. BTW I believe you're very cool and awesome. Also TBH watching the Throwback with Peter is very fun. I mean I can watch it on DVR too. But what I'm asking is Throwback cancelled because I don't want it to go away. It's still fun even if I eat dinner that my mom makes.
My Dad worked with Sam Mills doing construction before I was born way back in the 1980’s. Sam wasn’t being paid enough by the USFL to fully support himself so he had to work a second job during the off-season. Then he finally got a shot with the Saints and went on to make 5 pro bowls and be named first team all-pro in 1996 at age 37. The Saints also snagged Michael Lewis off of a truck driving job to become an all-pro. Insane. Both guys were right under the Eagles noses. Lewis was signed by the Eagles but didn’t make the team and Mills played for the Philadelphia Stars in the USFL. Stupid Eagles.
In the 2020 season, we've seen (As of week 12): - *insert the endless effects of coronavirus here* - The Broncos play the Saints without a quarterback - Tom Brady leaving the Patriots - The Browns being a good team - The Buccaneers being a good team - The Bills being a good team - The Dolphins being a good team - The Patriots being an average team - An injury at FedEx Field that wasn't a player for Washington - An entire division with every team holding a losing record - A team that will likely go 0-16 (I'm calling it along with everyone else) - An expanded 14-team playoffs - The Raiders officially move to Vegas It's been rather eventful.
In the 1970 merger, two teams were exempted from having to worry about moving-the Giants and 49ers. Reason? Geographic AFL neighbors in the Jets and Raiders, respectively.
I think you should just do a full on documentary now. Starting at the beginning and detailing every change and thing of note from every day/week/month/year/season in the nfl history.
When they were talking about the 1987 NFL Strike, they said that the players called the strike off with a new CBA. That wasn’t true. The players returned to work without a new agreement.
I'm VERY surprised you didn't mention 1992, because not only was that the year Favre started for the Packers, but 20 out of 28 NFL teams that season couldn't finish a full season with their starting QB. 7 of those 8 made the playoffs, the only QB to miss and play a full season? Jim Everett. That number wouldn't be seen again until 2017, where 12 of 32 teams finished a full season with their starting QB, and it was nearly matched this season with 13 out of 32 teams. One of the worst years I have ever seen for QB's.

Then Drew Brees and Sean Payton arrived, the team returned home, Steve Gleason blocked a punt, and the rest is history.

2020 was like 6 previous seasons. Tom Brady led his team to Super Bowl victory and was MVP of the game.
In the 2020 season, we've seen (As of week 12):
