The NY vs. Buffalo Superbowl was one of the best Superbowls of all time. It's shame that field goal didn't hit it's mark. The other three Superbowls were never winnable. No AFC team was strong enough to beat Washington or Dallas. It just sucks for Bills fans that they had take those for the rest of the conference. Hats off to Buffalo, though. I was there. It was hilarious. Most people were leaving the stadium by third quarter thinking it was an Oilers blowout, and then were trying to come back to the game again when it was obvious the Bills were mounting the biggest comeback in history of NFL. Frank Reich is probably the best backup QB ever.

I'm a Bills fan from Buffalo, and I absolutely love this video, it summed up everything about why those Bills teams dominated just about the entire decade of the 90s, but are still remembered as a team who couldn't get it done at the end. After nearly 20 years of not seeing the playoffs, I think we were all ready when Tyler Boyd caught that go ahead score against Baltimore. The Houston game hurt last season, but we'll be back, the East is ours again, and I think America is going to start noticing Josh Allen. We have our guy.

As a Packer fan, I've always viewed the Bills in a similar way to my favorite team. Both the Bills and Packers have a lot in common. They both play in a similar climate with a lot of snow in the winters, their fan bases are very passionate, they both play in small markets.
Packers play in a small market but they have fans all over the country. I visited the deep south once and all the NFL fans who weren't cowboys fans were packer fans.
The Patriots also play in cold weather and don't play in a dome either. Not the same as Buffalo or Green Bay but they are still a cold-weather team. Not just the Patriots but Boston as a city has very passionate fans despite them not always being very competitive.

Getting to the Super Bowl 4 times is nothing to be ashamed of. I definitely always found it very sad that they did not win at least two of these Super Bowls. I believe that the Bills will end up winning a Super Bowl soon or at least in the next few years.
Started watching NFL the first season they lost. I keep a very special place in my heart for the Bills. I think they have a shot to lose another one this year.
It really took A LOT of years for fans to appreciate just how impressive that run was. At the time droves of fans were annoyed the AFC was “letting” this happen. Especially as a kid, where a couple seasons feels like decades. I’m glad I got to see the entire arch of that story.
The rest of the AFC DID let it happen. Even the early '70s Dolphins and mid-late '70s Steelers never reached four straight Super Bowls. The mighty Belichick-Brady Pats somehow didn't even pull this off despite getting a free pass to the conference title game 8 straight seasons! The Bills not only got to one because a team choked away a 35-3 lead, they won another playoff game 10-7 on a DEFENSIVE score by someone named Carlton Bailey who even most Bills fans never heard of.
The AFC of most of the 80s and 90s was lagging behind the NFC, it was so bad it wasn't funny. People would call the NFC championship game the real Super Bowl and the big game just a victory lap for the NFC team. Those years from 1984 to 1997 were just BRUTAL for the AFC until Elway and the Broncos finally broke through, and then you had the Brady/Patriots years. I don't think that kind of power shift will ever happen again. The AFC had their runs where they were stacked in the 1970s and again in the 2000s, but they never had a crazy 13 year run of dominance over the NFC like the NFC just did with the AFC.
If I remember correctly, the Bills were the 2nd most winningest team of the 90's (behind the 49ers). Growing up in VA, everyone was Redskins fans in my family, but I couldn't help but love the Bills. The Music City "Miracle" was the only game I've watched where I legit cried, followed by a 17 year playoff drought was just horrible...but I'm still proud to be a Bills fan, even having never lived in Buffalo!

YUP. Four Falls of Buffalo was what made me realize how great an accomplishment it actually was for them. Going to 4 straight is a lot harder than winning 1, then falling off afterwards.
The Buffalo Bills are a team that never stops fighting, no matter what. Being a lifelong resident of Buffalo, the Bills are a reflection of the city they live in. There is absolutely no quit in the 716, and the players who have played here through the lean years have witnessed that mindset during every frigid home game. The fans show up to cheer on their team regardless of what the world, league, or climate puts in front of them as obstacles. The #BillsMafia is a force of nature that is entirely unstoppable...
That was one of the most well put together documentaries I’ve seen. While it was hard to live through those 4 losses, it only strengthened my love for my city and team!!!! Go Bills
I too have a soft spot in my heart for the Bills...and that happened when this 4 year Greek tragedy ensued ☹️ The Bills Mafia is a prime example of what a fan base should look like!
It goes against conventional football wisdom to handoff during a two minute drill. But on that final drive, Kelly completed two passes for just ten yds, whereas Thurman ran twice for 33 yds. The Giants defense was playing the pass all day, and even more so on the last drive. If Kelly would've handed it off to Thomas a few more times instead of either scrambling himself (he was not exactly a running QB) or attempting short throws underneath, that kick is probably attempted from less than 40 yds.
I’m a panthers fan but man this makes me sad for them I’m glad they’re really getting better and better each year maybe not as good on defense but an amazing team

The rumor was, the Buffalo staff let the team party at the Super Bowl so the team showed up half hung-over for each game. Where as a team like the Cowboys, who had some of the most notorious party-ers like Michael Irvin always held back believing the celebration was in the future.
Duse, thank you for this. I was a young kid in Dallas so I knew nothing of the Bills, just SB’s. This was so enlightening and intriguing. Well done Mini-Doc, man.
I think it is fitting that Jim Kelly, the driving force of those offenses, faced cancer and beat it. I always respected Kelly, but his successful fight gave me even greater respect for him. Few fan bases are as fiercely loyal as Bills Mafia and as a die hard Broncos fan, I recognize that passion.
Back in 1990 they started showing NFL on free to air TV in Australia. As a young Aussie kid I fell in love with the Bills. Watching those 4 Super Bowl loses was heart breaking, but I still follow them. Let's hope the curse is finally lifted soon.
Having lived in Buffalo/Western New York for most of my life, this video just barely scratched the surface as to why there is such a connection between the city/region and the Bills, and why Bills fans are so loyal. It's hard to believe now, but at one time Buffalo, NY was one of the largest cities in the United States, with both a booming steel industry and manufacturing. But when the factories went, so did most of the population and the people were down on themselves. The AFL Bills were a powerhouse that infused life and pride into the region, and when the late 80's/early 90's Bills came along, that pride was restored. If there was one team that was a perfect reflection of its community, the Bills would be it. For those years the hope that the Bills brought made Buffalo a place to be proud of once again. Yes they lost four Super Bowls, but they got to four straight. That sense, even during the drought and all the years of losing to the Patriots, never went away. When Terry and Kim Pegula bought the Bills from the estate of the late Ralph Wilson, the amazing outpouring of love they got was beyond genuine. And what we're seeing as Bills fans right now has left many, if not most of us, sensing that we're on the verge of something great. This year's team is the first in nearly 25 years that I have been even remotely close to being as excited about as I was for those Super Bowl teams. But here's one more thing your video missed out on: many of those players from those teams still call Western New York home. Jim Kelly especially, for someone who chose Houston over Buffalo initially, is a major part of the community to this day. He's as much of an ambassador of Western New York as the Goo Goo Dolls and chicken wings.
@Erik Lerström 👌. Just asked cuz of ur name and cuz u said Kansas. Trump got crucified for saying that cuz it’s actually in Missouri, but since ur from Sweden nobody would fault you.
@Erik Lerström I’m a chiefs fan, living in Kansas, but if there is a goat debate, my vote goes to Brady. Mahomes could be but too early to say yet. USA is pretty sweet too but I’m not chanting USA unironically ever. Cool to see an NFL fan from Sweden is that rare?
@Erik Lerström interesting take. I think Tom Brady is athletic, but I get what you mean, he isn’t a freak athlete like those other guys. He is super smart which helps him a lot tho. Also I’d point out the patriots were not very good until they got belichick and Brady. That being said, I agree belichick and Brady were a very good match. Without eachother it is entirely impossible both didn’t rise to stardom and there is some luck involved for sure. Drew Brees is the regular season goat I’d say and Montana was a very elite QB as well, for all time great, despite not being the most athletic, I’d still have to go with Brady tho.
Would you ever consider doing a video on the Chiefs "cursed" playoff losses? The no punt game loss in the '03 season. To the Colts huge comeback win in 2013. Losing to the Steelers who didn't score 1 TD in the 2016 loss. Being up 21-0 at half on the Titans in 2017 and playing a bad Titans team and still losing. While I am a Chiefs fan and those hurt, I think it's interesting to see all the ways they could lose.
Those losses except for the Cots one are not even in the top ten of the worst Chiefs playoff losses. You must have forgotten the Marty Schotenhimer era
After the 4th loss, there was a talk show host (I think that it was Letterman, but i'm not sure) who made a joke. He had said that the phone company had officially changed the Buffalo area code to 0-4-4. I'll never forget that. Classic.
I'm a dallas fan and I have a lot of respect for those bills teams. Unfortunately the world acts like Ricky Bobby's daddy high on career day, "if you're not first, you're last".
The real story was the wolfpit that was the late 80s-early 90s NFC East which sadly coincided with Buffalo's rise. There was also was the sad state of the AFC East, as the Bills were practically given a free 6-8 games against really poor competition. Yeah, the Bills hung with the Giants, but they got beat down every other time. By the time the power in the NFC changed (Niners, the rise of Favre), the Bills were old, expansion was on the horizon, the AFC got better and the Patriots hit their stride under Parcells in the AFC East (so did the Jets). After a brief glimmer of hope under Flutie, the Bills were rendered irrelevant until the Josh Allen era. Just think of the QBs that went through there during the dark days: Collins, Hobert, Losman, a washed Bledsoe, Manuel, Fitzpatrick and Peterman to name a few.

Most people were leaving the stadium by third quarter thinking it was an Oilers blowout, and then were trying to come back to the game again when it was obvious the Bills were mounting the biggest comeback in history of NFL. Getting to the Super Bowl 4 times is nothing to be ashamed of. I definitely always found it very sad that they did not win at least two of these Super Bowls. I believe that the Bills will end up winning a Super Bowl soon or at least in the next few years.
Not this year
How did that work out?🤣
Started watching NFL the first season they lost.

I about wore out Madden 92, but always ended up playing with the Eagles. Loved playing with that stacked defense - Reggie White, Clyde Simmons, Jerome Brown, Seth Joyner, Wes Hopkins, Eric Allen. The Buffalo Bills are a team that never stops fighting, no matter what. Being a lifelong resident of Buffalo, the Bills are a reflection of the city they live in. Knowing the Bills' luck, the Giants probably get a miraculous return TD off the ensuing kickoff to win it.
If only we had Steve Christie a little sooner. Dude was clutch.
Even as a Jets fan I gotta give Bills fans credit for being this extremely loyal, and this organization for building back a playoff contender.

Back in the 90s Chris Berman always wanted a bills versus 49ers Super Bowl.
It started back in '88, and he made the prediction annually until '95. Except for '95, one of them made the Super Bowl every year.

Back in 1990 they started showing NFL on free to air TV in Australia. As a young Aussie kid I fell in love with the Bills. Watching those 4 Super Bowl loses was heart breaking, but I still follow them. Let's hope the curse is finally lifted soon.
Cool story bro! As a Pats fan, I hope the Bill can take the Cake.
Awesome Story 😎
This is the type of set the edge video quality i have been waiting on for six months, glad youre back on track
And now they're back and have a chance to get back there. Could be the redemption tour.

I've been a Bills fan for 28 years and I can say that it is the most sophisticated form of masochism known to man. Let's Go Buffalo.
